- I found a "Guide to My N64 Games" I wrote back in 1999 where I reviewed my Nintendo 64 collection. I was quite a harsh critic back in the day!

That was great! Yes I'd love to hear those ps2-era reviews as well. I never did reviews as a kid, but I did rate all the games I played during the snes era. I know at one point I used the Nintendo Power format. Wish I had kept mine like you did.

This is a good idea for a video. This is actually one of the best videos you made in a while. I've always found with your reviews as you gotten older, you've been a little more forgiving with how you looked at games - you always try to see the good out of every game you play regardless if you like it or not. Its weird because as kids to teenagers, I often found that we're not usually as harsh because we're just simply happy to have a video game to play, but yet some of the complaints you had about games when you were younger would be things that i wouldn't complain about so its really interesting to see your mind set towards video games when you were younger. Still an excellent video and some good insight about what you deemed as a good game when you were much younger in your life.

Awesome you found those papers! I did something similar. Not a review like you, but I scored all my NES and SNES games in graphics, sound, replayability, difficulty and a final overall score. I'm pretty sure I don't have those lying around anywhere..

This is one of my favorite videos from you, Pete. Keep up the good work. On a side note, I too found my younger self being a lot more critical with video games than I am now. Maybe it's a collector's mentality, but ever since I got myself into game collecting, I appreciate the majority of video games (including Bubsy 3D).
Good video. I enjoyed listening to what an articulate little feller you must have been even back then. I have memories and a few writings like this from when I was a kid in the NES era.
I mean honestly you don't post as much but your just very relaxed but great commentarys makes you my favorite TH-camr for sure

Funny reaction to Yoshi's Story lol When I was in 8th grade I wrote a review of FFVII and I still have it. Your reviews seemed fair to me. Diddy Kong Racing was an interesting one.

I love your videos, and I am really happy that you still take the time to make them! It would be awesome if you did a Pokemon themed video to celebrate Pokemon's 20th anniversary and the upcoming release of Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon. Maybe you could do like a retrospect or something. ^^

People still don't know the term "isometric" to this day. I keep hearing "the graphics are top down, but kind of from the side", it's funny.
I loved Yoshi's Story, DK64 and Diddy Kong Racing. I played and Rented every game from Blockbuster (Snowboard Kids, Fighter's Destiny, Beetle Adventure Racing, Mystical Ninja etc etc.)
I'm so glad you're back.
It's funny how we look back at enjoying every game as a child and back then we were little critics like we are today.

We have the same age! Don't tell me you wrote these on Microsoft Kids' Creative Writer, that font looks extremely familiar. Also, even though Bomberman 64 is one of my favorite N64 games that stood the test of time, I would have probably given it a lower score, cause I didn't know how to bounce on bombs to reach all the warp zones and therefore complete it 100%.
HHA so ccording to your review scores, you like Ken Griffey baseball on N64 as much as Mario 64 HAHAHHA!
I think you used "1D" as an insult. As opposed to 2D or 3D.

It's probably the school's fault you never gave anything a 10. Back then they seemed to hammer it into kids that nothing could be perfect.
This reminds me of the stupid opinions I had about games when I was a kid.
I didn't think I was gonna like any final fantasy games because I wrote them all off as just "pokemon with people instead of pokemon".

I had like 11 N64 games when I was a kid, and none of them were first party Nintendo games. Jealous of all the Mario/Zelda/Donkey Kong/Star Fox etc.
