I always had that the Adore album was one of the best works of art of any media.
It absolutely is. Certainly one of my picks by anyone all-time. The sensuality of it alone is overwhelming!
Their most underrated album, bar none
If they had released Adore as their debut album, they would have never become as big as they are because it lacks the punch and dynamics of their previous three albums. It's just too soft and lame.
No it wasn't
I discovered the Smashing Pumpkins back in late 1998 as an 11 year old kid right about the time Adore came out and captivated me tp this day, I also loved Machina, Siamese Dreams and Mellan Collie came later for me as a retrospective dive around the 2000 while I was entering my teens.
Way to go Billy. Glad you're still with us and are here to utilize the Internet. I wish Kurt could have seen how it's empowered artists (or he has from the realm he's in now).
Billy having kids might be the best thing to have happened to him. Listening to his ATUM
podcast and his interviews lately he really seems to have mellowed out.
I love Billy Corgan. Saw him live in Irvine, CA. The pumpkins were fantastic this tour.
Seeing them in Tampa on the 21st for the first time! Been a fan since the 90s. Am so excited 😬🥹
@@giuliantheboss3329 me too! Been a fan since the early days of Mellon Collie, and just saw them for the first time a few days ago! You're gonna have fun! Stone Temple Pilots opened and they were great. Your inner child will be screaming.
we only come out at night, that's hilarious that his kids like that song. i used to actually sing this as a lullaby to my son. totally forgot about that until this interview
His message truly is powerful.
His message lol. He's an actor reading a script

I saw Billy Corgan at the Gypsy Tea Room in Dallas around 2015 thinking I'd never get a chance to see him perform again. I was the only one under drinking age in the crowd. I was the last ticket he signed that night. I framed it. This band has always made me feel at home with myself in so many phases of life. My husband surprised me with pit tickets for my birthday. It was surreal and was a great show. Thank you Billy!
As a loyal fan from 93, I have been thoroughly impressed by all of their shows, especially the last 5 years or so. Jeff was such an amazing addition and the fact that jimmy and James are there makes it sooo much better. I wish Darcy was leveled out and on tour. Nostalgia 💯
I wish they would have find the way to incorporate D'arcy back too. It is very sad. By the way I started listening to the band in 1992. I am in France. Thank you. Michel
@@michvair fellow fans from another land! My name is Michael as well
Have watched so many of these recent concerts and BRAVO!!! Solid sets, solid ensemble and having lost anything. STILL GOT IT
Everything this band has done is awesome
Not true
Exactly why i love this group! Billy is an amazing guy.
Just saw them in Charlotte 2023, great show!
An all-around excellent interview. Billy Corgan is, of course, fascinating to begin with but Emily Curl's awesome smile and great questions made this a pleasure to watch. Kudos to the vid editors as well. They kept a great pace throughout.
Thanks for the new album, Billy
The band is very storied, that's for sure. Plenty of critics out there, and many have had their words about Billy, because I think some people just like to talk s_-t. (I lived through watching Rush get ridiculed in the early days, to eventually have people come out of the woodwork to claim they were their heroes.) For SP to push through that noise and take on an ambitious project with the Atum Rock opera album set and a big tour, they have earned my immense respect.
Of the 33 songs on the Atum album, I have noted 18 songs worth checking out. Spellbinding, Avalanche, Beguiled, The Culling, To The Grays and Empires are my favorites. Give it a couple of listens, believe me- some of them will grow on you.
Legend ⭐️ 0️⃣ ⭐️
My favorite band !
What a great interviewer, how refreshing
That was very interesting. Great questions/interview and great answers!
Love this interview
Billy Corgan is the best
He's right about this tour. It's as if he took the best songs from each album and included them on this all-impressive setlist.
This tour is a 90s greatest hits tour with a few Atum songs thrown in. Super boring for me.
@@TerribleEnglish So which albums and songs were you hoping they would focus on?
@@clownnookie Well, since you asked, ha ha.. Personally, as a fan of SP generally, my ideal thing would be the Pearl Jam approach.
They play a completely different set every night. Of course a few old hits are thrown in, especially towards the end, but basically their shows are for real fans, and at the show you can get any song from any album.
I think with the Pumpkins that would be amazing - I'd love to hear different songs from the early albums instead of the singles all the time, as well as songs from Zeitgeist, Oceania, Teargarten, Monuments, etc.. which deserve more attention than they get - he's completely ignored that whole era since the 'reunion'.
What do you think?
@@clownnookie Update: I see now he has changed up the setlist, ha ha. Finally!
@@TerribleEnglish (*laughs) Billy always did claim to read the Comments section. Perhaps you influenced him !
love this interview
I bought Bullet with butterfly wings. I think that was the name of the album .So long ago. I wore it out. Good band. Reminds me of Nighmare before Christmas -The era and time in my life. The dog days of Grunge.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
D’arcy is truly missed.
is she clean yet?
😭
😢
love me a Billy Corgan interview
Cant wait to see you tomorrow
All SP ALBUMS R CLASSICS. ROCKET HUMMER AND JELLYBELLY R MASTERPIECES
Pretty talented guitarist and songwriter, Corgan has written lots of songs that became hits. Probably the one that has more hits in his generation. And still giving valuable answers to media.
An amazing songwriter but a contrarian first and foremost. I don't think they've had a hit single for a very long time, but he'd probably panic and change everything he's doing if he did!
@@TerribleEnglish he has a lot of memorable songs plus still has an amazing level of streaming engagement, plus some of the best 90's videos.
@@barbosahMX I think he's a brilliant songwriter, and I think his recent stuff is really high quality too, in fact, I think Atum is up there with the best he's ever done..
But I don't think he writes anything commercial- by design. I don't think he's had a mainstream 'hit' for decades. In fact, even though I rate his recent music very highly, I don't know who it's for, if you know what I mean. It's too weird and uncommercial for the general fan and not rock enough for rock fans.
@@TerribleEnglish if mainstream is bad bunny, do not count me in hahaha Zwan is an excellent album I own the special edition and love it too.
Even though they weren't hits he has written songs that should have been, like "Freak", "Violet Rays" "One and All" "Silvery Sometimes" "Anno Satana" "Purple Blood" and "The Good in Goodbye"
Heart Rock
Nice! Great interviewer too.
Adore is eternal.
❤❤❤
Very good! ❤,🎃
I see he's bringing the wrestling to SP, with the Ultimate Warrior inspired face paint.😅
lol :D
Cool interview, but I would suggest no background music playing throughout the video. It was a bit distracting for me.
Yo he good at talking bro!
Where the podcast available they referenced?
An American Standard… Billy Corgan.
Oooh
👏
Vampires are real. I hope Billy Corgan and his band stay safe.
Someone give billy a baby doll and some glitter
Billy can be divisive, pretentious, likes the smell of his own farts, but he's always been an artist. I don't like everything SP has put out but I've never discredited Billy for doing what he wants, even though he can be ultra cringe at times. This interviewer is also horrible..."Where do you get your inspiration?" C'mon.
Reminds me of the old Norm podcast where Adam goes “Where do you get your ideas from?” 🤣🤣🤣
u can tell that the host is a well meaning person
set to drain ain ain ain ain
Love SP, but.. what a lot of BS. Their setlist (until the last few shows) has been a complete 90s greatest hits set, with a few new songs thrown in. He admitted that his plan was to 'get the old fans back' several years ago, plays all the old singles in every show while constantly complaining about not being thought of as a current, relevant band!
Plus, it was HIM who was saying 'rock is dead' in the 90s, thus alienating his rock fanbase, something they've never recovered from.
True. And this new album, is absolute garbage lol. Idk why he's so averse and scared of just going back to gish and Siamese sound. I don't get it
@@justinkassinger8238 You'll be very pleased to know that he's making a proper rock album now - no joke, he actually said "in the style of Gish and Siamese Dream".. We'll see about that.
Behienie
Carlton Fisk and Jim rice are going to beat your behinee
Atum huh and 33 huh.. Billy knows.
He is such a beautiful person to listen to I can just see it it's cool but... Basketball for the African slaves baseball for the American slaves football for the European slaves.get dat ball boy nice and deep like.. we're not in the 70s I'm calling Carl Yastrzemski.
love him but rock is not nearly as big as it used to be
Billy. Such a anti corporate, anti establishment hero stealing 8.6 million from taxpayers during COVID.
Its not really a band its Billy's solo project. I feel Billy's really out of touch.
Billy's hilarious; he's not wrong, he's meant to be the man on the moon, he got robbed though, they stole all his fortune to build their own space stations and he's gonna end up immortal like Wall E, still though; on the ball corgan, David n Saul again 😇🫒😋🕎
The album is about Trump.
No. It's actually about democratic party fascism. Billy is a conservative. Which in today's society means a "normal person". Liberals are crazy Nazis now
Hopefully that's a joke. It's obviously a riff on Corgan himself building off of how MCIS and Machina both referenced his public image
@@werideatdusk I just meant the dichotomy could be applied to Trump as an entity who disrupted the status quo and then was banished to the outer rim so to speak. I'm not suggesting Trump is an artist but one can like Trump and the Smashing Pumpkins at the sae time ;)
Billy is certainly open minded and reasonable enough to entertain that possible interpretation. Most other "artists" would not be.
@@cinemar it's true, being a Pumpkins fan has no political litmus test... but it does require a sniff test... and this take had a certain odor LOL
Wah wah wah
All BC ever does in interviews, is whine about how no one ever likes the pumpkins (or does he mean him?)
Me and millions of kids have loved them since Gish.
Stop already with the pity.
I wish Corgan would retire into obscurity. The new music just isn't good.
Billy Corgan and Smashing Pumpkins albums have not been relevant or well made since the 90's
You've never been relevant.
Strongly disagree. Cyr was a super solid album that sounded relevant to the pop soundscape of today while still maintaining artistic integrity. Personally, I’ve not been able to get into Atum yet. I like most of the albums before Cyr as well but I just pointed out Cyr because that album was musically extremely relevant.
Being "relevant" to the music scene of the 2010s and 2020s is more a mark of shallowness than quality IMO
Agreed.
Billy hasn't aged well and to name his tour after the cringe-y opening line from Bullet is just lame.
....of course.Tot's
That's just wrong. He actually looks like a quite healthy middle aged guy.
some line from Bullet which is a mainstream song he told the world waits from him again and again lol, not the Disarm, not personal songs. So pathetic, though I'm a fan.
