The first location in the first game is the site of KVLY-TV's transmitter in Blanchard, North Dakota. It previously held the record for the tallest TV mast in the world until the FCC spectrum repack, which reduced the height from 2,063 feet to 1,987 feet. The current record is KRDK's (formerly KXJB-TV) transmitter in nearby Galesburg, ND, which sits at a height of 2,060 feet.
13:20 you are looking at a world famous part of the Vigelandsparken (part of Frogner Park), in which the sculptor Vigeland has left his legacy. I am very happy to have been there in person. It is stunningly beautiful and a place of contemplation, with 212 statues. The statues are not iconic representations of famous or religious figures (like many public statues are), they are for the most part lively depictions of all stages of life. The most famous statue is the "Sinataggen" or "Angry Boy" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Angry_Boy).
Recognized that Wieliczka salt mine immediately (round 4 of that underground game)! Visited it when in Krakow in 2019. Really cool plave, definetely worth a visit if you're ever around there Edit: Also recognized Vigeland (round 5 in randomness). Was a pretty crazy but also intriguing place when visiting in 2018
😍 Brutalist architecture! Also how have I never noticed how obviously photoshopped the sign from the highway exit meme is? 💀I insta sent US on that because I was just thinking of the meme and not actually looking at the surroundings.
fun fact: in 2019 i went to the you had to do it to em site and took a picture of me doing the pose and the dude’s dad legit came out of their house and told me to please leave 😭😭 he was tired of so many people taking pics at the spot 😭
I have saved up a whole bunch of locations. Now my lazy ass just has to organize them into maps. Might submit a map or two for you to play when that's all done.
8:10 well there is an amazing place right there, it’s called Aven Armand, it’s a mindblowing cave which actually looks similar to the one in the first round in China, definitely the most beautiful cave I’ve been to, can absolutely recommend checking out, and also the départments of Lozère and Cantal as a whole, very picturesque places
@13:25 CG, you got to work on your goosemeta! That is what we call «Canada Geese» (Branta Canadensis) and is basically ONLY found in North America 😄 The ones living in Europe stem from birds who were brought from NA for hunting (acc. to wiki).
I feel like "brutalist" architecture gets a bad rap because of the name "brutalist." I love almost any kind of unique architecture with a lot of sharp angles. I'm a fan of it as well.
I'm happy with how I did on most of these, especially Randomness! Though my US Interstate Junction score could have been much better - I was looking for 787 and saw it the moment the round ended, and I spent too long looking for 185 and clicked on the intersection the moment the time ran out, so my guess didn't register in time. Round 5 sucked because I couldn't even find 29 in all of the nothingness between 27 and 35! I am very happy though that I managed to recognize the subway station even though I've never even set foot in the States, and that I have the highest score on the Norway famous memes round as of posting the comment (Though I have no idea what the meme is!)
SPOILERS clicked on this video immediately with the thumbnail, as a tampa resident i of course had to know where it was. sadly i only got 4,995 on that round, i knew the general area but not the 5k. i also had fun with the interstates game, i got all of them very close except the sioux falls round!
yoo thanks for playing my memes map, i spent ages trying to find good memes for it

Wait, this thing is 600m tall? :O It looked more like 150m at first.
7:36 I was at that salt mine in Krakow many years ago, when that round loaded in i just got a vibe that it was there... Can't believe it was it.
Ya I was there in August this year. It’s so fascinating

The only meme I knew when I saw the location was the "change my mind." Interesting stuff.
The naked statue bridge round, I would have guessed Denmark or Sweden... that's the vibe I was getting. So Norway wasn't too far off.

Ahhhhh eastern shore maryland. drove that road plenty of times. crazy how you recognize places.
5k'd that Oslo round. Walked past there many times! Love it when I get locations I've been to.

I’m really happy about the Foggy Bottom location. I love that station. I’ve been there countless times.
I’d heard of all the memes except “you know we had to do it to em.” Fun video as always!

Yooo the second I heard you say 29 and 229 I looked up and immediately knew where we were. One of the only intersections I could 5k lol
i’ve met the guy behind “road work ahead,” shoutout to drew gooden

I recently saw a travel ad for Romania and that salt mine was featured.
wasn’t expecting fitchburg state lmao
After 13:13 that was a location where my ex-workmate sent me a selfie last summer for geodetective fun. I found him there quite quickly :)
For the last round, Norway has yellow and back chevrons! Same with Ireland, Portugal etc

Those appear to be Barnacle Geese, which are native to Europe. Tough with the image quality though.
The color isn’t quite right for Canada Geese. Very likely a barnacle goose in Northern Europe
Lol i recognized the tcu round immediately! such an odd trivia point lol
6:13 I've been to that exact spot lmao, I literally have a picture of myself there
Same here! That was a really pretty hike
freshavocado lives in my head forever
I really liked the memes map, i hope the creator will update it in the future!
Love the Brutalist aswell!
Submitted a map to 'maps-and-scripts' in the Discord some time ago... just sayin'

The Mason/Dixon line, Separating the Northeast from the South, follows the Maryland northern border with PA. Maryland IS a southern state.

maryland will always be a mid-atlantic state in my eyes
