At Sporting most of the players he bought to play as wing back were wingers or attacking midfielders, the 2 full backs he bought barely played (fresneda, esgaio).

There's no hope for the season. It's a complete write off. I'm sure Amorim just wants to get through the season without dropping further down, getting as high up on the table as is possible. And hopefully winning the FA cup and more importantly the Europa League to qualify for UCL - next season will be 20x better if they actually follow through and back Amorim as promised. For now, let's hope the training they can get in with less games actually bears fruit

It’s an interesting point but doesn’t hold up when you look at Dalot who is inverted in lwb. He should be offering when you’re saying maz isn’t but he’s largely been terrible too. I think it makes more sense that the wingbacks in this system are attacking players, but we’re playing defensive ones which is limiting our attack.
Other teams with wingbacks (Atalanta, Bayer leverkusen) use wingbacks on their natural sides and make it work because they are much more gifted offensively and athletically than our guys. Hopefully Dorgu helps in that regard

Top analysis AJ as always. We need to start playing ballers as the outside CBs too. Maybe Heaven is perfect for LCB, Mazraoui as an interim for RCB, just the central one is hard to pick. I'd go for De Ligt because he can defend in a wider range of situations than Maguire but I guess Maguire can progress the ball better at times. If we can push the outside CB's up instead of the central one, the back line should be harder to breach too.

    3 things you didn't mention
    1. The back 3 should be Martinez, deligt, mazraoui. (Yoro and maguire should only replace deligt)
    2. Pressing: our press is shocking, U get goals by pressing well...
man mark if you must. This is a theme of united coaches so far, we can't press properly.
    3. U score goals by getting players in the box... when the ball is on the wing, say with Amad on the RW, garnacho, bruno, hojlund should be appearing in the box with dalot holding width.
Let us encourage crosses, high and low...
    Ugarte can sweep up...
We have few players in the box cos so many people are moving to the ball
    Football is simple really

100% agree. We haven't yet played well with two fullbacks as wingbacks but Amorim keeps persisting with it (a major problem he needs to fix and certainly will this summer). He needs to keep Amad at RWB and immediately throw Dorgu into LWB. Dalot becomes a backup wingback and Maz becomes a backup RCB (or starting now that Martinez is injured).

I fully agree an the wingbacks, and if you count or attacking 5 in posession, Dalot and Mazraui is not going to rack up goal involvements. On the Bruno dropping deeper move, I really liked it. The 8 drops down, creating a back 4 with our three centre backs. It allows for carrying the ball into midfield while retaining a numerical superiority in defence, however the problem is that the advantage of it is, yes, it allows our wingbacks to push higher on the pitch, and as long as we are playing two defenders there, it won't create goals.

We just dont have players in the box. One reason for this is we are usually outmanned 2v3 in the midfield so we constantly lose the midfield battle, but we also have 3 in the back guarding 1 forward (and somehow he also breaks through but that's a separate issue) so it constantly feels like we're a man short in the final third (even when Martinez sometimes carries the ball forward). This is a tactical issue.
The team seems to lack energy and physicality. They can't "run like dogs". That's a squad issue. No amount of training and coaching can help there.

I’ve took the opportunity to look at Amorin time at sporting vs his time at man utd, what I’ve gathered…. 1. At sporting the back 3 was quite spread which allowed the full backs to occupied higher positions. At man utd The back 3 is quite narrow which ask a lot of the wing backs. 2. Bruno has now played as a deep lying midfielder in the last couple of games and we all know he is soft as toilet paper so he doesn’t give the back 3 enough cover which can limit the wing backs or one of the central defenders making forward runs to create angles overload(outnumber the opposition) 3.Bruno seems to be uncomfortable playing between the opposition lines or back to goal but prefers to drop deep or slide out wide which often time leave the other cm on his own. So the question is do we need a CB who can win majority of 1v1 scenarios? Because sometimes we look like we are playing with 6 in the back with our defenders jockeying the opposition and allowing them to get close to our box. Or do we need another robust CDM who can slide into a back 4 when a CB get dragged out wide? Or A number 10, who can play between the lines and create angles for wall passes and 3rd man runs? Without these additions or changes our wingbacks will not be able to maintain higher positions and sustain constant threat on the opposition.

He actually chose to go long. Based on stats, Onana is actually making more long balls in most of the games. But we have been let down by Strikers hold up play. And you mentioned how deep those players are, I actually think they progress well but the issue is that at the start of attack, they all rush forward, and then due to poor personal quality, we often miss a pass in the second phase, the opposition then rush back to an unprotected goal. That's how we have conceded so many goals.

Amorim plays exactly like pep and they could even be dangerous in attack for more than 20-30 mins, the problem at man utd is the type of players we have. • @Bloodnok49
    @Bloodnok49 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

Sorry, AJ, but Onana is not the player you think he is. If he starts to go forward, he makes dire decisions: he lacks judgement. His ability to control his own 6 yard box is lacking, and balls from set pieces evidently spook him. - and if you combine him with Maguire, it''s more than likely to go t1ts up. Maguire playing out from the back is a nerve-wracking experience anyway - most of the time he wants to pass sideways or backwards. On those rare occasions where the opposition want to retreat into a low block, Maguire gains a little confidence, haltingly runs/stumbles forwards and tries a long pass, which evidently delights those who think he is something he is not: all Maguire wants to do is get rid of the ball at any cost - and it often costs Utd. God smiled briefly on the England team at the Euros when Maguire could not play.
Without Licha, what was becoming a reasonably firm defence line will fall apart, unless de Ligt steps up to the plate. There are currently 4 players who give the team spine: predominantly Licha (injured, possibly until the end of the year); Ugarte; de Ligt and Bruno. Those players had started to make Maguire more than a whining softie, who regularly gifts the opposition. their mental fortitude meant the midfield had started to function properly, at least in defence, but always - and it's still there - was the the mostly non-functioning attack.

I just don’t think we bother trying to get the ball in the box often enough in Gainesville you’ve seen us go behind and we have 10 minutes to go. We get to the box and we start shooting and we start putting crosses in and we look dangerous, normally an open play we will get to the edge of the box we will dribble towards the box and then we will pass along the 18 yard box. It’s like we’re trying to pass the ball Internet if you look at Bournemouth Newcastle for Arsenal, the goals come from getting the ball out wide and getting the ball in the box as soon as possible we try to be too cute around the box. If you look at games, Diego gets the ball in crossing position, runs the box and then passes it to Bruno Same with Ahmed occasionally Ahmed will try and get in the boxing shoot, but we’re trying to dribble to the box and then pass it to the 18 yard box to try and shoot, but by the time we start to dribble opposition, get 10 men behind the ball were too slow in the final third

It also took him 10 weeks to realise Kobbie is a 10 while everyone else saw it much earlier. Those are just a few question marks I have. He’s more of a box, Porter RA on the shoulder, running in behind striker. You play to his weaknesses and then call him crap. Joshua is brilliant at receiving the ball so people say he is a better option at the minute, but he’s not as good at finishing the best way of doing it is to not play long balls to Rasmus to get the ball out wide and to get the ball in the box as quickly and there as often as possible.

IMO Amorim must try a late 19th century tactic combined with modern day pressing mentality.
What I mean by that he can try play a full rondo formation in which there is no midfield at all instead he must play two wing backs instead of one on each flank.
Meaning one wing back to defend, one wing back to attack. The defensive one can also tuck into midfield when required.
This way we can attack faster and more efficient.
In a defensive perspective, when the ball is at the opponent, it is easier to engulf the opponent because our formation is literally a rondo.

At home, man utd should sit back and play on counter…This system doesn't help when Man utd try to dominate the game…We are caught on counter attacks…At away games, we are dangerous because teams try to press us thereby exposing them for counter attacks

You can anlayze all you want but at the end of the day. Collectively , as a squad. these players do not have the skills to play the way Amorim wants just like they didn't have the skills to play how Ten Hag wanted last year and this. Why in the world would you want Fernandes anywhere near his own goal receiving the ball to play out? It's not like Bruno doesn't turn the ball over is it? Good grief. And you really want two tracker trucks like Maguire and DeLigth trying to play out , surely nothing can go wrong with that deployment.
Mate, just stop with all the fancy analysis, Dalot and Mazraoui aren't wingback, Fernandes isn't a deep lying playmaker (no sane Manager would play him there because he's a turnover machine) and Hojlund does not have a hold up game . He never wins air duels and balls bounce him like radar.
So there you have it, you can analyze all you want but it's like trying to get a plow horse to run the Epsom Derby. He'll run but there is no chance that will work, cause he's a freaking plow horse. The best place to put him.....is on a field where he can do what he does best.....plow. Amorim's system and formation is trying to force the United plow horses to try to run like a Thoroughbred. They don't have the skills. Don't know why people can't accept that. Just because a player is making 200k/w doesn't mean they can play every position and every style of football. What do you think would have happened if Pep played direct long ball with Messi and his mates. If they were United fans they would complain that Messi makes enough money so he should be able to win more aerial duels and score more goals with headers.

Do stop the begging for clicks. It’s all an act anyway so why bother. We’re not fools. Ask quickly and move on. Much more professional.
