I really want to finish my list of 10 sci-fi books I gave myself to read at the beginning of 2024. At this point I’ve read 5 and among those I need to still get to is Wild Seed by Octavia Butler so I’m a bit scared😅
I dislike sci-fi, never read thrillers and very rarely fantasy but I like watching for the vibes and to know whay books are out there (in case I change my mind about those genres) 😅
Ahhh God of the Woods! Hoping you love it as much as I did! Also please read Oathbringer! There were definitely some slow moments but there were also two AMAZING battle scenes and just some great moments overall. I just started Rhythm of War and it’s off to a good start 😊
I recently read God of the Woods and quite enjoyed it. It was not a thriller, I would classify it as a family drama mystery. It's pretty slow, not very high action though there are some moments of suspense. For me, it really painted a picture, which i enjoyed. It didn't quite have 5 star vibes for me, but a solid 4 star.
i would also like to squeeze in the wedding people before the end of the year. i keep seeing it pop up everywhere and it’s making me really want to pick it up! i’ve heard it’s actually laugh out loud funny
My book of shame is The Count of Monte Cristo. Been avoiding it for years due to how huge it is. Going to finally read it in December to wrap up the year.
Ooooh Emily - Inflamed: Deep Medicine and the Anatomy of Injustice. Highly recommend as part of your women's health non-fiction journey (if you haven't read it already) 💅
I'll be curious to see if you like Annie Bot, I was thinking about picking it up but also giving it the side-eye for the same reason as you lol I read Huck Finn in school about 15 years ago and remember almost nothing about it but I still enjoyed James!
Oooh! I’ve been interested in God of the Woods! Also, I saw a video of someone planning to buy one book a day as a form of an advent calendar .. and I might just do that. Been that kind of a year. Interested in joining 😊?
James by Percival Everett is the only book left on my must-read list for the year. Everything else I finished will be gravy. I do have a bunch of Christmas themed books on my physical TBR but if I don’t get to them in December then I will save them for next year.
I saw a book that made me think of you on another TH-camrs recommendations-- A Quantum Love Story by Mike Chen which is a time loop romance? Also I think you would enjoy Sociopath by Patric Gagne. Loved Annie Bot! It was quick!
OMG! Have you heard about this new book called Twisted? I came across it by complete accident so I decided to order it as the synopsis has me hooked! It’s a murder/mystery and the author is unknown so I’m guessing it’s a very new author. You should check it out sometime!😮
I would encourage you to read other non-fiction books besides feminism and self help. I'm sure you will find a lot of other interesting topics and you will broaden your horizons. Love from Egypt 🇪🇬❤️
I really liked Anniebot's first half but didn't like the ending. It was a happy ending, but it felt unearned and rushed. The owner makes me angry, and you're supposed to be angry at him. I also think the book needed to work a little better on race dynamics and the nuances of consent. However, it's just noticeable but not enraging, like other books. I hope it helps.
2024 is almost done and I’m trying to squeeze a few more books in before it’s done. What books are you trying to get to before 2025?

My pile of shame! I’ve like eight books that have yet to be finished. One I started in April!!
I'm looking for a good Christmas themed book.
Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan
I missed when those landscape pictures went up on your shelf, but I'm loving it!
I dont think we've ever read the same book even once but here i am 😂
Here for the vibes? I can respect that 😂
(Not even one though?)

Happy Thanksgiving to you and the kitties

Loved Life Impossible, especially knowing the authors mental health history and connection to the books location.

Really? That would be awesome!

Almost done God of the Woods!! I feel like it’s up your alley. Next I’m reading the Wedding People. Fingers crossed. Have you read the Book of Doors?
I’ve not read a lot of 5 star 2024 releases either. I’m thinking 2025 is going to be a great year for books though!!!

I want to read the wedding people so badly!!

I thought Annie bot was fantastic! I hope you get to it so we can hear your thoughts on it!
The God of the Woods could be a 5 star It was for me. The Impossible Life was my worst read of the year!😊

James was a fast read. Loved it.
You read "All the colors of the dark" which you loved and it's released this year.
I'm currently reading it on your recommendation and loving it.
I knew I was forgetting something 😂
The rest though… rough

hey! I'm super early! :)
Huckleberry Finn is by no means English Classic. It's quintessential American.
LOL my brain went with “it’s in English, it’s a classic, must be an English classic” 💀
I dnf'ed God of the woods but I know a lot of people who enjoyed it. It was just not my kind of book.
Honestly, is it my imagination or do older readers enjoy this more.? I am much older and I really loved this book.

I’ve read plenty and they’re the topics I’m currently interested in.
@BookswithEmilyFox OK. Happy reads.
