    Wait, so the technology Odin obtained from Ivaldi to imprison Fenrir could be one that separates his consciousness from his body. Kind of like how Jupiter and Minerva imprisoned Juno in the grand temple. So Fenrir’s consciousness is probably locked beyond the walls of another temple and requires someone to touch an eye to release it (like how Desmond touched the eye to release Juno in AC3). All Basim would need to do then to save his son is find that temple and set Fenrir free and into the gray. That would make for a really interesting plot line.

    I also believe Aletheia is actually a hybrid Isu/human. There were already some indications in the Atlantis DLC (which could be conisdered Aletheia's memories) and we have some in Valhalla as well. For example, when pretending to be Freya to trick the builder, the builder can comment on his voice, to which Loki says something like "I am told it [his voice] has a seductive quality" and Thor replies "by a wolf". If this refers to Aletheia being a "wolf", then that would explain the "wolf traits" of Fenrir as him also being partly human (through his mother). So maybe the allegory is that Isu/human hybrids are (hybrid) "monsters". It is likely they were seen as such by some Isu and discriminated for it, much like "mudbloods" vs pure wizards in Harry Potter. Havi would then ban all hybrids ("wolfs") to counter the prophecy/calculations. Btw, in Valhalla Loki is considered half Jotun (mentioned in the codex).

    I wonder if the binding/Isu jail is perhaps a cryogenics chamber of sorts - it would keep Fenrir alive but also keep him imprisoned; as for what his potential 'mark' being I've not sure - perhaps his son was an agent or sympathizer of humans for the war and agreed to kill Odin for them since it'd be a huge victory, like the assassination of Saturn. Ivaldi mentioning the testing of the Mead and hugr into a goat - I wonder if perhaps he is a relative of Juno? Since he's a blacksmith he could perhaps be Hepahestus since he made the 'Weapons of Eden' and may have owed Odin a huge favor for something, resulting in his servitude to the Aesir for an unknown amount of time.
    I also don't know if you know this but in the Hidden Truth video, the Isu that Loki killed - that was Heimdall.

    I have a question - Juno said "Desmond is WITH ME within the Grey." We met Desmond in this game. Basim speaks of him. Does Basim (Loki) and Juno met in the Grey? She helped Odin long time ago, so I wonder if she and Basim liked each other it not...

    • @AccessAnimus

      That's an interesting question :D
      So, in the years from 2012 until 2018 Juno, after she was freed from the Grand Temple, Juno might have actually had some interactions with Basim / Loki within the Grey / Yggdrasil device.
      Judging by the Anomalies files, I'd say Loki wouldn't be a fan of Juno because she helped Odin and at the same time didn't help him when she was holding the Mother of Wisdom title...

    This is really only a theory, but something that could explain the ambiguities around Fenrir and Odin’s actions is if you expand the definition of “children” beyond biological to technological: i.e. Loki and Alethia’s offspring could be fully autonomous artificial intelligences.
    It isn’t hard to imagine a society defining AIs as “monsters” out of a fear of losing control of them (there are plenty of examples of that fear in our own culture), and banning their creation. It would also explain explain Odin’s fear of ALL “wolves” (AIs) not just Loki’s one specifically, and how they’re not immediately recognizable but need to be hunted. It might also explain Fenrir’s role in Ragnarok as him being able to affect Isu technology on a worldwide scale, rendering them more defenseless against the Toba Catastrophe.
    If the divisions we’re seeing are caste-based rather than geographical it might be fair to assume based on what we’ve seen that the Greco-Roman/Jotnar Isu are the scientists and in a technologically advanced society they might be the ruling class. Norse culture’s emphasis on warrior qualities could hint at the Aesir being the Isu’s military caste, and lacking the status given to those who researched and created knowledge.
    Loki is stated in the codex to have been the son of a Jotun so in this context would have been the child of a scientifically accomplished family who (for whatever reason) decided to join/marry into the military. He then encounters and begins an affair with Alethia, a woman from his former caste, and with their shared scientific background they successfully programmed artificial intelligences.
    In this possible explanation of the allegory, the dwarven caste who are obviously physical makers of things could well be the technicians who build and maintain the Isu’s technology, which would fit and make the cord and Fenrir’s jail pieces of hardware designed to trap and hold the AI software (like an air-gapped server).
    Like I say it’s only a theory, but I think it does give a logical explanation for a lot of the things that don’t quite make sense yet.

  • @Garcusmarvey
    @Garcusmarvey 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think it’s interesting when you remove the veil of Norse mythology. It helps you understand why Loki referred to Odin as the mad one. that Loki’s son wasn’t an actual “wolf”. And Odin imprisoned his son because of the “calculations” of his son killing him during the toba catastrophe. And also Loki is half aesir half Greco Roman isu. so intriguing, I love the lore of this game.

    Couldn't it be possible that wolves, and by extension Fenrir, represent humans?
    Also explaining why it is so "shameful" for Loki to father this "beast".
    He and Aletheia may have adopted a human and considered him a true son.
    It's even possible that Fenrir may have been Adam. Who after escaping with Eve and starting the human rebellions, was captured by Odin, but Loki convinced him that he should be kept alive as leverage, though in reality it was because he cared about him.
    Could be interesting if Jörmungandr, or whoever came to be known as such, was also the "snake"/being who "tempted" Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. (or, in AC lore, led them to the key to their freedom?)
    Could be interesting to find out Loki was involved in that.

    I don't understand one thing. Time and again it has been mentioned that isu had the ability to "sense" time in a way that humans could not. This was highlighted in a way that they had this capability in a biological or at least consciousness level. But all evidence we have seen is them being exactly like humans except they are technologically more advanced. All this sensing of time is achieved through technology itself. So what am I missing here? If anything, isu made humans in such a way that controlling them would be easier. That is the only difference I can see (and the height of course).
    Great Video btw. This and your site are my go to source for anything AC.

      @@giovanni8199 I guess that really depends on the main Ireland and Paris DLCs for the game. If those feature modern day, we'll probably play them as Basim and based on how they end, we'll probably have a better idea whether we'll play as him.
      The thing is, Basim / Loki isn't necessarily and only a bad guy per se - Odin behaved "villanously" most of the time during the Asgard and especially the Jotunheim arc, so Loki's behaviour can also be considered as a reaction to all that.
      All in all, Basim's character is so complex that it may work both as a main character (the father that survived time in order to save his children) and as a villain (the selfish Isu who killed Odin's son and Heimdall in order to survive and have his revenge on Odin)

    So... Isu had many different groups. Greek/Roman Gods , Asgardian Gods for example.
    Loki was a Greek/Roman Isu that was living among Asgardian Isu.
    The ice giants in the Asgard arc were an interpretation of Greek/Roman Isu which were in war with the Asgardian Isu for unknown reasons.
    Loki had a child with another Greek/Roman Isu (Alithea) , the child was Fenrir.
    Why this child(Fenrir) is a threat?
    What does this child have to do with the catastrophe?
    Greek/Roman Isu invented the 7th method?
    Why they were at war?

    • @gedemartha9534
      @gedemartha9534 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I might be wrong , but The answer to why the Isus' were at war was because the asgardian isu stole the 7th method of salvation that the greco-roman isu had.

    • @kazekagejichujisoo7838
      @kazekagejichujisoo7838 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      1. Only Odin thinks Fenrir is a threat because he will be the one to kill him during Ragnarok (the great catastrophe from Revelations.
      2. Pretty much answered it in number one
      3. The seventh method was invented specifically for Odin and his trusted 8 as a means to survive the catastrophe. Not sure who came up with the seventh method tho.
      4. The Greco-Roman Isu and The Norse Isu are at war. That’s it. No explanation why because the game never tells us why.
      Edit: actually for number 3 I think Juno/Hyorikkin made it for Odin. There’s a scene where she gives him the mead/serum during the Jotunheim arc.

    • @AccessAnimus
      @AccessAnimus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'd have to disagree with the two factions being at war *because* of the Seventh Method because the battle at the Bifrost and the other incursions by the Jotnar in Asgard happen before Odin even gets to know about "hugr magic" (which is the conscience transfer branch of the Greco-Roman methods of salvation), let alone of the existence of the Mead / Seventh.
      I'd go with more traditional reasons like conquest or difference of opinion etc. And in general I'd say that the war sequences appear in order to show that even the Isu could go at war against each other (although we knew that already from Syndicate)

    I think that a good explanation for Fenrir, Jormungandr and Hel is that they’re visually different to the Aesir Isu. Perhaps the Jotun/Capitoline race of Isu had visually distinct markings or something different to the Aesir Isu and would explain why Odin said “I’ll tolerate no wolves in Asgard” when he tried to kill Fenrir (meaning “I won’t tolerate half-breed/tainted-blood abominations in Asgard”). This makes sense to me that Odin is a massive xenophobe and would class children born with both Aesir and Jotun blood as abominations since the Aesir are at war with the Jotun. I’m saying this all based on that Loki is technically a Jotun but his appearance is changed to that of an Aesir to fit in. It’s entirely possible that Fenrir, Jormungandr and Hel were full Jotun/capitoline since both Loki and Alethia are Jotun/capitoline themselves.

    I don't think that Fenrir being a wolf is an allegory. If you remember in AC Odyssey Jugment of Atlantis you can find a lot of different notes mentioning that wolves were cast from the Atlantis, and there was even something about a wolf-like creature terrorizing the city and then there was a note about the head of beast mounted upon Evaimon's wall, which was called a wolf.
    As well there was a side-quest with a woman turning into a wolf when she fell asleep.
    So, maybe, Fenrir indeed was a wolf, and because of that how Atlantians' (i.e. Greeko-Roman Isu) treated wolves it was dangerous for him to stay there. Furthermore, maybe Fenrir wasn't literary Aletheia and Loki's son, but the result of some of their experiments, hence the reason why he looked like a wolf.

And that all parties involved should know of the prophecy and come up with a humane plan.

    Could it be that Fenrir was part human? Like I always assumed that Alethia was a hybrid held in high regard since she told Kassandra that the Fate of Atlantis DLC was made of her memories as Dikastes and in the DLC Kassandra was made Dikastes by Poseidon because she was a hybrid. Being held in high regard as Dikastes would also explain her “normal” interactions with the other isu. Plus everyone in the Fate of Atlantis was able to recognise Kassandra as a human right away so if Fenrir was part human maybe Odin could notice him right away and treat him the way Loki said he did in the anomalies since humans were discriminated against.

    • @AccessAnimus
      @AccessAnimus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      We cannot exclude that too... although in the Jotunheim arc Odin identifies a few humans used as slaves by the Greco-Roman Isu, and those are depicted as normal men working in Suttungr's palace. So technically in the allegory humans are represented as... humans.
      Still, maybe Fenrir could be partly human, so that would explain why it would have been considered as a "monster"

      Yo I had the same theory, this is my take: What if Aletheia isn't fully Isu? In Odyssey, Poseidon says "Your humanity is clouding you" to the dikastes near the end of the dlc. Now we know Layla is reliving Aletheia's time as the dikastes, and we know Loki bears children with Aletheia. What if these children are "tainted ones" or what would later become people like Kassandra, who have large amounts of Isu DNA inside of them. It would make sense for both the Greco-Roman Isu and the Asgardian Isu to be freaked out by the idea, since they treated humans as slaves mostly. Idk, I just think there is something here to go on. Fenrir could also look like an isu but be mixed species, hence why Odin doesn't recognize the trait, which could be humanity. Wild I know but I just love theorizing about this. Wolves could be an allegory for humans or human isu hybrids, and how they would rise up with Eve and rebel, as shown in the prophecy disk, but now I'm stretching. Also could the actual giants in Jotunheim be Isu? The rest human or some other form of Isu, maybe a lesser breed in their view?

      It's because Eivor sees the Graeco-Roman Isu as the Jotun from the Norse myths, thus having them acquire all of their mythological qualities, including the place where they live.
      Meanwhile Asgard is also a reflection of what Eivor sees in England, with not only the Roman statues but also some buildings being reminiscent of some you can find throughout the story.

    • @noone5454
      @noone5454 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It's not really about who is a bad guy; Assassins Creed always had a plot were all of the factions were truly not good nor evil.
      Havi (A. K. A. ODIN) tried so desperately to stop the Ragnarok (A. K. A. The Toba Catastrophe) that it made him do questionable things, such as threat the live of Loki's son (A. K. A. Fenrir), or causing inestability in the Jotun cast (the Roman/Olympian Isu cast), making the 7th method of salvation only available for himself and his allies; meanwhile, Loki killed Baldur, and possibly Heindal, Odin's sons, not only as an act of revenge, but to persecute Odin reincarnation replacing the last in the reincarnation, and to reunite with his wife, Aletheia (they knew this thanks to the calculations that the Isu were so good at). There's no side completely evil or good, they all have motives that, in some ways, justify their actions. We can see this not only in Valhalla, but also through the series.
      One of the big dilemmas in the conflicts of the principal factions in the franchise is the one between the Assassins and the Templars, who want to achieve, but the ways the want to achieve it difer; the Assassins (P. K. A. Hidden Ones) think that if liberty was given, people would be able to achieve peace, but full liberty causes complete chaos, because without rules, there's only chaos, while Templars (P. K. A. the Order of the Ancients or N. K. A Abstergo) think that, if they can control people, they will ensure peace, however, people who don't have control over their lives are bound to live a live of misery. This filosofies have good and bad points, and it's completely reasonable to believe such filosofy.
      That's something that I love of this franchise. Not everything is black or white, but different shades of Grey. I hope this helped you understand the plot overall in a more understandable manner.
      (If you wonder, P. K. A. means Previously Known As, and N. K. A. means Now Known As)

They don’t have glowing skin markings like isu shown before, this may be an over site by Ubisoft but it may show a larger story being made in ac. This would make a sense if Loki was a human because his children would not be accepted by isu, and since we know there’s a human isu war going on this should suggest humans hate isu as much as isu hate humans. Also remember humans did posses qualities to disobey isu such shown by Adam and Eve, Odin may be a descended from them.
