Marty Friedman, Rocky George and Dimebag changed the way thrash and aggressive music soloing can be played. Their feel and creativity was on another level.

Dime and Marty religiously take my 2 top metal guitar spots, they rotate between first and second, but no one else ever gets in

I love when legendary guitar players are as humble and down to earth as Marty

Marty is the man. One of the GOATS that played in one of the GOAT metal bands, awesome down-to-earth dude and just a genuine human being. God bless him. 🤙👍💪

I agree with the shredder thing, u can't beat melody and feeling in playing. And sometimes its simple notes that sound the best. David Gilmore, toni iommi, billy gibbons, Richie Blackmore to name a few have that special feel and ability to write soul touching music not just fast nonsense.

Marty is a master of note placement. Extraordinary and sometimes exotic songwriting. Not to mention his phrasing and bends.

The song Escapism from Introduction I want played at my funeral. One of the most gorgeous melodies I’ve ever heard…brilliant album, every song is incredible. A desert island pick for me.

Great interview! Marty Friedman named some bands I was lucky to see in US! Dir en grey, coldrain on vans warped tour, maximum the hormone, sim, man with a mission, & one ok rock at knotfest in Ca! 🤘🏽

Imperial Circus Dead Decadence, Zemeth, and Bloody Cumshot are my favorite JP heavy bands right now. Everyone should give them a listen.

One of my favorite guitarist! Not too many lead guitarists In my opinion that all their leads are memorable. Not just a bunch of noodling

Superb episode. Another great Japanese band is Friendship, they play sludge/doom/hardcore. They're on Southern Lord too.

...... Reason Marty didn't get asked is because the whole point of the kings of thrash tour as mentioned many times live by Ellefson is that it's all '80s only tunes, and rust in peace was 1990
