Challenge #2 asks the community to raise a colony to the imperial age in the fastest possible time. Results are in and the top 5 times featured here are literally insane! I should have made this video a whole lot sooner, my apologies to everyone who was waiting! However, it still took me a huge amount of time to put this together so if you enjoyed it I would appreciate it very much if you pressed the like button to show that you did :)
I usually never comment on TH-cam, but I have to say this video was very well put together. It really shows how much effort you put into it. Also, hats off to all top 5 players for those remarkably fast times. Here's to the next community challenge!

It was really positive experience for me to watch this video and look on the game in a different way. Stealing enemy's resourses and all the other tricks really impressed me !

He went to grab his lead pipe to close-shut the front door to the 3-star restaurant, but a sudden pinch to his shoulder caused him to kneel down and understand the delinquency of his recent shoulder-injury. He knew it was acting up again. He immediately felt for his phone in his pocket to call Lintallin - his 12-year old neighbor. However... Something was amiss. What could it be? What was preventing Eloquin from dialing Lintallin - his beloved neighbor? Of course! He left his phone on the midnight train! Alas! If only he took his pills that his black doctor prescribed for his shoulder pains... But wait! Something he just remembered... The alarm! The alarm intended for the police to alert them of burglars! If only he could reach it... There he laid, hovering over the lead pipe like some sort of diseased-ridden caterpillar... If only he could reach the button. He crawled with all his might, only to come across a crack in the floor. A crack in the floor? Surely not! Surely not in his beloved 3-star café! He had to investigate... He pulled the tiled floor; searching for the root of the problem of his damaged floor. He pulled; he wripped; yes, he even cussed; but suddenly! The floor fell beneath him! He was crumbling like the Russian he was! Oh, the pain he had... Poor, little Eloquin had fell on his shoulder, not without buckling his knee - his other passed injury caused by a passing train... Eloquin knew his was in vast trouble, but the button! The button had destroyed! Along with the entire top floor of the café... There he cried... For days... Never knowing if any customer would ever return to his store. Not many people often showed up to "Eloquin's steamin' pile of harshdiddies". I mean, who turns up to a 3-star restaurant when there's millions of 4, or maybe ever 5 star restaurants laying about... He wept; he sobbed; he lost controls of his bowels, until... His phone! It was in his pocket the entire time! How silly of old Eloquin! He quickly made haste to call the ambulance, but... Oh, no... The phone wasn't his... Nay! It was his nephews!!
that one trick where you convert all your food into coin, couldn't that last game queue'd up for some livestock then unqueue'd them to get the food back while still getting the coin?
fun to try out, but no practicality, this requires build orders and cards that have no value in a treaty and the extra time in imperial does not make up for the lack of say being able to use fur trade at 36 min or the military upgrades you will miss out on by including crates nd the like. I wonder how fast i could do an aztec water boom. Will have to try this

Odeton won it with French on Texas in 7:27. He deleted his starting towers to give exp to the CPU so that it would send more crates for him to steal. I think the prize was a trip to Ensemble Studios in Dallas. There were also prizes (ES merchandise I think) for the fastest times with each civ. I don't know how they're gaining xp and home shipments so fast. I couldn't do this if I was getting one home shipment after another. They've got a secret to gaining xp for those home shipments I've never seen before.
+450rmack They actually don't send very many shipments at all, the shipments they do send they got of the back of the early TPs and the fact that early game shipments come quite quickly :). I checked all the recordings, every's legit!
it seems to me some players (#1 for sure!) used maphacks to see where the cows are on the map... did you not say "no hacks"? Of course technically he could have saved, looked for all the cows, memorized their placement and loaded, but I think hacks are more likely. and I wonder - if Umeu had used a settler in his opponents base to gather crates as well - would he have won? I think so
People asked me if they could use the cheat code "x marks the spot" to reveal the map to see if they liked it (and I suppose to see where the livestock was). If they liked the map, they'd then use the restart game button which single player has which would reload the exact same map. (or they could save it and reload as you suggested). They'd then play on the map normally and not use any cheats/hax :). Eiterway, the motive behind me saying that cheats and hacks were not aloud was mainly to stop people collecting resources faster than settlers can in a normal game, placement of livestock isn't really in the same league in my opinon. I can confirm that I checked all the times submitted for cheating, gather rates are all normal and all resources accounted for. (Checking Aizamks time was difficult because he qued so many cows/sheep just be fore he clicked up but in the end all the resources where accoutned for, no extra. It is possible that Umeu's time would have been faster if he stole resources, but he didn't think of doing it or chose not to in his game :), It does make you wonder though :)
i didnt steal res because auracania is such a long map and walking the vil across the map wouldve almost not made it worth it. i think aklaks bo is better in the end. but i do think auracania is better with the tp. but no sure. cba to check now :P
SoWeMeetAgain Nah, if you're going to be stealing crates you want to vs Expert bot and non-treaty. If you use treaty there's that annoying building restriction which would prevent you from using trading posts.

wonder why the iroquis didnt age up with the vills. they would have had the maximum amount of time to gather him recouses, and use the crate age up as age 4 ageup to make age 5 cheaper, and use the fast age up for age 5
for second place, i dont get why he would ship cheaper trading posts. rather wait till age 2 and get 3 trading posts for free which is the max you can build now anyway
Well, I originally intended to give away a key to the player who set the fastest time using treaty and to the fastest player who didn't use treaty (because I thought some people would be annoyed that they could have used treaty but thought it would have been against the rules as I didn't say anything about it in the video when I set the time). But it turns out that once even more times were sent to me, the fastest time didn't use treaty anyway so it made no sense to reward Aede who came in 5th with a key as the player who set the fastest time using treaty. I have bought a second copy of the game on Steam to give away but in the end I decided it would make more sense to give that key away in another community challenge. I did buy a second copy of the game though :P

By macro I meant the choosing a BO and being able to execute it side of macro. But you're right. He's still a monster though. This was a lot fun, just a pain in ass to make this video, but I'm very happy with the result :)
