On united if the seat on someone's boarding pass is an aisle seat on the left side of the plane and once on board if there is a window seat open on the right side of the plane why is a passenger not allowed to move into that seat even if that seat is in the same zone or fare class?

Eric Frommer Passengers are not allowed to switch seats before door closure. We want to make sure all paying passengers get the seat they selected. It’s always appreciated when a passenger kindly ask if they may move to another open 💺 after closure. That way the airline won’t charge the wrong person during service👍🏻

Also the flight manifest needs to remain as accurate as possible meaning everyone in there paid assigned seat in case in the unthinkable happens...
