THIS is the dream that creeps me out the most, when Tony is watching the ghost lady (who I’m assuming is his dead mother) coming down the stairs, reminding him that her influence is still prevalent in his life, primarily in Janice, how she manipulates people around her for her own benefit, just like Livia did. Wonderfully done
I noticed you guys mentioned that Tony is short on allies: It's worth remembering that even though the show focuses on Tony's inner circle, there are actually at least 3 or 4 other crews in the family, each with at least 4 guys in (some bigger), not to mention associates too. We sometimes see the captains of these crews at meetings etc. The Soprano family is considerably bigger than what we typically see on screen most of the time. In terms of are any of them dependable, well that's another story ha ha!
I thought something similar when they mentioned that. It might seem like Tony only has like 5 or 6 guys, but the family obviously is much bigger. It's just that we don't see most of those people. The show focuses heavily on Tony's former crew, a bit on Ralph's crew and Junior's crew before it got decimated. While we have seen next to nothing of the other three crews.
Say what you like about Janice, she helped Bobby out in this episode. Burying a cake at your wife's grave is weird, and the morbid behaviour was effecting his kids. It was time to eat the ziti, and Janice helped him get there.
Great discussion. Just a little correction...when you mentioned Tony seeing Pussy's ghost...Tony didn't see him, only we viewers did. Tony paused before closing the door as if he sensed something but that's all. I thought that was an interesting choice from the writers (or Chase) & one of several instances throughout the series where they implied some supernatural occurances might be real. Just another little layer that makes this complex show so fascinating & unusual. 🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵
man the dream sequences are so powerfull in this episode from everything we see tony go through we never see actual horror, these deep meaning dreams are the first of many to come. its relation to death goes hand in hand with the overall darkening of the show every season you progress
The masonry job refers to adding more rooms to the house. The people Tony kills, or is responsible for their death, end up in this afterlife house. With Livia already there, always watching.
24:13 in this scene people like to believe Karen’s ghost moved the wine glass in front of Janice because the amount of ghosts through out the show but the show runners I think said it’s some video glitch or cut idk forgot what they said video editing lingo
Can we just give a round of applause to Aida Turturro who played Janice. Davi was right, the writing of this character is so good because she gets a lot of people to hate her. But it wouldn’t be anywhere close to being as effective if it wasn’t for the actress! One of the many reasons why The Sopranos, to me, is the best show ever made and why it’s so influential to TV as a whole. Also, amazing dream sequence at the end, it’s creepy, and it’s so well done.
Ralphie's transformation is that he's dead guys lol He was alive and now he's dead, therefore, change. I mean, don't get me wrong, you can also connect it to Tony being angry at Ralphie's attempt at being better; Tony doesn't know if Ralphie actually killed Pie-o-my, and the dream is "made" by him, so there may be some doubt in his mind. From my perspective, he's probably feeling out of control with his own destructive nature (he's not driving the car, and the car has a guy he murdered in it), and at the end he has "reverted" to a primitive form of builder (so, the antithesis of destruction) in front of the ghost of his mom, which is to say: whatever constructive tendencies Tony has, they go to shit due to all the unresolved stuff he has around the figure of his mother.
The house that Tony was entering in his dream speaking Italian and broken English....Just keep that house in mind for the future episodes. And the woman also that was coming down the stairs...that was Livia btw.
Highly recommend you guys check out the HBO miniseries 'Generation Kill' based on the book by Evan Wright about the 2003 Iraq Invasion. The series is more relevant than ever right now as Evan Wright sadly passed away this past week at the age of 59.
I’m always interested to see the perspective you all have on the dream sequences because I feel like that is one of the most subjective and interesting aspects of the series. They get more and more in depth and I can’t wait to see you react to them, especially the ones in Season 6. 🫶🏻
Who's ready for TONY TUEEESSSDAAAAYYYY????
Intro to one of the best side characters in the latter seasons: Little Carmine

It’s great that throughout the show, Janice has denied she wasn’t like her mother. But she and Tony, were both like her, through and through
Beansie ROLLING with the girls 😂😂😂
I see what you did there 👍
enough with the spoilers , this character does this or that next ep, they were waiting for Ralphie to do something crazy the tracy murder ep

That wasn't Ralphie, it was Cypher from The Matrix.
Bald and beautiful

That last nightmare gets creepier the more you think about it

Just realizing I really love y'all's into music

Appreciate the shout out btw (I was the one who made the 'Janice' comment)
I was always under the impression the ghost lady on the steps was Livia
You guys are in for a real tour de force performance next week.

My fellow, great fantastic Americans, I like to think of this episode as The Sopranos Halloween Special

The structure of Tony's hotel in the final scene looks familiar. Think it's the same hotel where James Bond roomed in "Goldfinger".
As a huge James Bond fan myself, that would be awesome if so. Two of my favorite entertainment franchises.
"You're gonna smoke cigarettes, and blow up the school"
Hey man, you're giving AJ too much credit
The house that Tony was entering in his dream speaking Italian and broken English....Just keep that house in mind for the future episodes. And the woman also that was coming down the stairs...that was Livia btw.
Any time I thought maybe Janice is redeemable, I remember this episode and immediately dismiss her

Thx guys
Why not try honey before the vinegar beating with the appraiser? With a civilian, seems like that would be the wise move
aj's girlfriend looks like floyd mayweathers white daughter lmaooo
Let's go
Ralphie is bald...remember the wig came off in the bathtub...it was Ralphie in the front passenger seat
My bad I thought this was the Whitecaps reaction
Tony Tuesday?
