Jack Shirley Hi jack I’m a DJI pilot who was staying at a premium hotel in Ventnor and using my drone at the hotel trying to emulate some of your scenes I was approached by the hotel to do a video of the island and hotel and thought you would do that perfectly certainly better than me
Extraordinary camerawork, excellent editing and stunning musical accompaniment. A fantastic piece of work that shows the beautiful Isle of Wight at its best. Thanks so much!
I was born in the New Forest and holidayed on the Island as a child, nearing retirement now and hope to return somewhere in the west wight, love the pepperpot lighthouse shot,it is a building I have never forgotten from my childhood,I have live and worked all over the World but I always knew I would return there.Good work Jack ! peace.
This is fantastic! Pity you do not name the locations though. I might do it for you if I get chance. Great to see one of the Peregrines fly out of Gore Cliff at 1:50 and over the top of you. Awesome.
Thanks Vicki! Do check out 'The Lion and The Wolf' for more of his music and you can subscribe for more of my videos - another Isle of Wight one coming soon! :)
I'm really excited, I'm going to the Isle of Wight in 11 months with my whole class for a week, and I have to say it looks absolutely beautiful, hopefully plastic pollution will not kill this wonderful island beach ☺️
I also was born on the Island at Bonchurch in 1945, lived at St Lawrence for a few years, then moved to Bonchurch Shore, so know Ventnor very well, and spend my early misspent youth there...:) Great drone footage, but wish there were captions showing where the places are, as I know them very well, but sending a link to an Aussie friend, who won't have a clue...:) Brilliant work mate, and hope you make more...
Just a thought: Seeing the Brading Roman Villa at 40 secs reminded me of a visit there, (after a dozen years of living just down the road, I finally got there!), where one of the points they make is about the Villa's location and why it was built there. Although the topography has changed, a drone's eye view might be of interest to them as another way of telling the story of the site. Might be worth contacting them. Glad the County Press put a link to you on their web page!
Lovely film Jack , I live at Apse Heath,Sandown, beautiful seeing all the places I love from the air , will be looking out for a new one.....subscribed!!
Very nice video, Jack! I just want to know if I'll be able to fly my drone in the Isle of Wight as well if I'm a tourist? Do you happen to know which permits should I have or do I have to take an exam so I can use it there? Thanks in advance!
I believe the Isle of Wight is still legal to fly. A quick Google will show you. Aslong as you stick to the law, last time I checked you are to stay away from busy areas and stay under 400ft. Enjoy flying
Hello. Great footage of the island. If it’s ok with you, may I use it, as part of our church TH-cam service. (East Cowes Methodist church). Many thanks Gary
@@JackShirley wow .never been to Hong Kong but would like to.love to see u make a film and tell everyone in.the UK and rest of world what it's like.. especially for a westerner to adapt and be accepted by the locals..
Me and my twin are gonna visit in isle of Wight and we're planning to make an travel vlog for our youtube channel. I am wondering if i can take some clips from here but i will give you the credits because we can't film like that and this will really help us. I hope you you eill response. We will really appreciate it! It's a very wonderful videobtw
Would like to use a few seconds of your video in a presentation for Tai Chi on the Island, would you be ok with this if I add you to the credits on the video. All best, David
Hi David, thanks for your message, If you are uploading it anywhere, you will have to pay for licensing. You can find my email on my profile if you want to license any footage. Thanks!
seems like more of a taster than a film. you obviously have a talent for drone photography but the rapid fire editing leaves no time to linger on this beautiful island. I would love to see more of your work but make a 20 minute film instead of 2. as a poet once said, what is this life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare.
Annoying the way it flits from one unconnected scene to the next, hardly enough time to work out where each one is. Much better to film the entire coast in one go if possible, then speed up the film. Many of us want to be able to recognise each scene, some logical flow would be more interesting and nicer to watch.
Hi Jennifer. Sorry you didn't like my video. I personally don't like sped up shots - they look unnatural to me. I also believe people who aren't from the island would get bored looking at the same scene for a long time and so I wanted to make a quicker compilation - as this video is primarily aimed at tourists to make them want to visit. I spent many hours making this and putting it in an order based on shot type, colours, directional movement and to suit the lyrics of the song - Not so much geographical location as I don't think that is so important when promoting the Island as a whole - sorry you couldn't see my logic. Thanks again for your feedback. Will try do better next time.
I don't think you read my feedback properly, you need to be able to take on board suggestions rather than only seeing it as criticism. You may have had tourists in mind when you made it but those who know the island and want time to recognise different places don't know that
@@JackShirley I read the post from Jennifer the same way Jack. For what its worth I think she is totally wrong (and frankly a little rude). The video is anything but annoying. I live on the Island and I think it flows perfectly. My drone will stay sat in the cupboard now I have seen the benchmark you have set. Great job. Beautifully filmed and perfectly crafted. However well you do something, there is always someone out there to try and knock it.
@@marktemple3976 thanks mate. Appreciate that! Don't leave the drone in the cupboard though! I often feel this way when I edit films -that I might as well give up because it doesn't compare to other films. But then I make my own style (quick cut so viewers don't get bored but some may complain it's annoying! Haha) so go play with your drone and enjoy it, that's the main thing! Thanks again!
+Jennifer McGoo: A very useful tip I got from a U-tuber a while ago: Hit "K" to pause what you are watching. Hit "J" to go back 10 sec, "L" to advance 10 sec. Then you can take all the time you want to examine the frame. I am fighting the temptation to get out the map, or call up Google Earth in another window :-).
I'm planning on making another Isle of Wight film very soon so please click subscribe so you don't miss it. Many thanks for watching.
Jack Shirley nice work mate
Thanks :)
Hi Jack love the film. I have an idea for you, do you have a private email please that I can respond to?

Do you know any family with the surname DRIVER there?
Oh how beautiful! I have ancestors from the island who certainly never saw it from this vantage point. Thanks for the lovely tour!
