NGL I can tell your skill level has shot up. Good job on the hustle to get better. To explain burst and instant cancels, instant cancels stop the end lag of your move, open up your basic move set, and costs 1 meter & takes a frame to complete. Burst cancel does all that, has a hitbox which can bounce people up from being on the ground, resets pronation (some moves make the rest of your combo worse, this resets it), is burst immune (can be used to burst read), and costs all your burst meter.
Another important thing to know is that you can burst in neutral now, so if someone is on you and you don't feel like you can do anything by constantly block, you can burst to get them off.
he needs to get way better at combos tho
nobody talks about the fact that it instant cancels also reset your AIR OPTIONS
Burst cancels are instant cancels with a hitbox instant cancels get you out of your stance and give you more options
burst cancels takes 100% burst meter while instant takes 1 super meter
You're supposed to use a burst cancel when you think your opponent is going to burst, it's a more fair way than just blocking it. Hints the name (Burst cancel) I only do this when I think someone's going to quit out and want to give them hope so they have more of an incentive to play.

as a Kether player, we at Project Moon are throwing him out of the hivemind.
Cowboy can now control the direction of the Temporal bullets using the DI weel.
Also if you shoot a bullet in the foresight, or use the detonation wile a bullet is out, it is going to ricochet/ get lunched in the direction of the DI.

there is one rule for dealing more damage if you are playing cowboy: don't lightning slice after lightning slice. If your oponent is too far and you are on the ground just use impale after lightning slice

The new update added canon events.
Speaking of, that's a cool idea for a character. One that's able to "buff" itself by making a certain attack of your choosing sure hit for a set number of times, essentially making it a Canon Event that you get hit by it.
Kinda like Cu Chulainn's "Gae Bolg" from the Fate series.

My man needs to stop ending combos prematurely, a big strength of Cowboy is that every hit almost ensures you a good 4k+ damage, unless you hit with impale, since that knocks your opponent down, so basically during combos use as often as possible moves with high damage and hitstun (for example, aerial throw is a surprisingly great option! or, with 1000 cuts, you can just spam vertical slash while on the ground), then use foresight and shift to get to your opponent's opposition and you basically get to continue your combo for free
Also, a better finisher than impale is usually lasso into Izuna drop, since that deals a lot of minimum damage!
Cant you just lasso into pull to continue your combo

My favorite new update is Robot's balance patch because now he feels more (well) balanced and doesn't have as many safe options as he used to. As far as my favorite RHG character goes I'ma say Steel is my favorite character rn but honestly I like all of them so he's kinda the placeholder for saying they're all cool characters. 11:28 btw the direction didnt matter bc thats the way u throw him after grab. To grab behind you, the flip toggle has to be on
the reason it didn’t work was prob because of your -2 block advantage. block advantage is how many frames extra you have to wait before you. comes out. You get it after blocking a hit or after your opponent blocks a hit.
actually since grab starts frame 1 with -2 it starts frame 3 if the startup of grab hits the hitbox of a grab it automatically does the bouncy grab thing where u clash with it. The modded character grab must work a little bit different then. so u were kinda robbbed

Saw your cancels questions were answered, but not sure on the attacks questions:
Block being so safe is great, but it's also really great with "block disadvantage" as well, which is what enables blockstrings. Ex:
if you get them at -1 block disadvantage, *your jab now beats grab,* letting you punish and follow-up a lot more safely, since it also gives delay for movement as well (so moves like hslash can punish backslash at a better range as well).
Also, shift teleports f7, so you can't simply use it to get out of dodge.
Oh, im no cowboy main at all, so ive no fucking clue what's optimal for combos. But here's what's worked for me: 3-combo is arguably your most solid damage dealer per scaling if you can pull them off (just hold after each hit), while Impale is more a combo-ender (so don't try to cancel it unless you're willing to burst cancel, depending on knockback)
Foresight in combos actually has less IASA (10 frames instead of 14) so if you've got them in enough hitstun and know where it's going: foresight > [attack] > shift+attack can be a great way to keep the combo going without burning meter. Also, take advantage of "bullet juggling" via ricochet and *rift* since it teleports any existing bullets to the location, allowing you to brutalize them at a range while acting simultaneously
