@@richardcline1337 it's going to be a pretty pricey swap. he's not very crafty when it comes to this stuff, if he was it can be done for next to nothing. My 6bt swap cost less than $500 engine and trans included.
Maybe double the torque but the 4BTAA is no horsepower monster, only a meager 140HP according to their company website. Nice engine, sure, but it's my opinion that it doesn't belong in a 70 year old truck that still has the original motor after 70 years.

Stock can do more than people give it credit for and in 50 years it'll always be worth more than if I had swapped it. Hell it's worth more that way now.
when you pull that old beat engine out your gonna give trhe engine bay a new paint job right, high temp black engine bay will look so clean and make that red pop
Good choice for the engine. I would pull off the body after mockup to protect it. You can more easily repaint the frame after final assembly and while you are at it, you can detail the firewall. I would definitely do a 4 wheel disc brake conversion, and adding power steering is a great idea, plus will be safer. The idea of using an engine where parts are so easily accessible is very smart. For added comfort on the road, consider a set of captains chairs with a console. The truck is going to continue to be a great looking workhorse, so driver/passenger comfort should come into play.

Does that setup come with full wiring harness I did some swapping while back for a 53 dodge truck the body/ frame is solid. Trying to figure what Im going to do for engine setup I do have donor of running 5.2 and 5.7. Thank you for your helpful ideas.
Great choice I reluctantly sold my 96 with a p-pump last year. Now my 2016 dodge gets about 1 mile per gallon less but the truck is 1500# Heavier. I wanted to keep for exactly what you are doing but I had no place to keep it.

I was hoping it'd be a Cool old school 331 Hemi something to match the Dodge (Mopar) theme. Still an easy, simple, and Very reliable eng. BUT I did NOT expect this... 4bt? Pretty neat. But I get it with the Parts thing.

I have a 57 Willy's 4x4 truck I was thinking of doing the same thing taking out the flathead 6 and my friend said put in a 6 cylinder diesel engine and a automatic transmission instead of the 3 speed manual transmission I on the hill about changing the transmission I do want to change the hearing in the axles because at 60 mph the wining sound from it
You could of fit a v8 diesel but the 4BT is way better suited hooked up to a 6 speed will do well maybe change turbine for a slight bigger one but other than that she will be good to ya
I think having a diesel in mater was a great idea but at the same time I think I would of rebuilt the original engine and put some bigger pistons in it. There’s things you can do to a gas engine to get more HP. You could of gone with a turbocharger also with the gas setup. You seem to have quite a bit of money to do these projects plus live in a beautiful home so I can see why you went with the diesel. Can’t wait they start the build. Did you drive to Colorado or is someone doing it locally that works for that company.
I would have found one of the new Cummins v6 engines out of the 1500 dodge trucks from a junk yard along with the computer and wire harnesses to put in Mater

Be neat if you hooked up a 6 speed manual transmission in it lots of bread/soda type trucks came with that setup 4bt with 6 speed

Look at a EPS system from a newer ram or a universal kit will most likely be the easiest for adding powering steering
Should have went with the 6bt if u plan on pulling the gooseneck at least it’s a Cummins I guess
