    Computer institutes don't teach these stuffs in networking classes. All they do is draw stuffs on white board and say things. Students needs hand on experience using real equipment in real time. Thank you for this video.

      They don't wanna teach ya if ya don't no it and all they want is money .....and make a portfolio lmao I'd love a job doing this

    • @Stark-w9v

      Da ve we go to learn because we don't know lol. But yeah they do it for money. Where I am from the course cost too much and the knowledge and service is not provided as expected. So yeah, I go to institute just for the certificate and credentials but I rely on internet for education.

      They don't and they shouldn't. Hands-on stuff is learnt in the field when you're a junior. Education is for fundamental stuff - that you'll never acquire at work.

      Artem Ponomarev No they should. I am not expecting them to teach enterprise level or data center level hands on experience. But like the video, they should teach how to install, connect, configure and troubleshoot devices in Local networks. They should teach how to work with different types of cables and connectors so that students can grasp some ideas that will be used in enterprise levels.

    You are the best! I have been installing cameras for more than 10 years and I have just come up with a huge project where I have to run fiber because of long distances I can't reach with regular cat5 or cat6 cables and let me tell you. You have just solved my problems, simplified my solutions. Very well done! Thank you so much! Will be buying lots of products from you!! Saved my life!

    Even new patch cables are dirty. ALWAYS clean your patch cables and sockets with a cleaning pen before connecting. 80% of all malfunctions are due to dirty fiber optic connections

    Proper use of the extraction lever not shown correctly. It should be put in the closed "locked" position once the SFP has been inserted to prevent the accidental extraction of the SFP. Once closed, then the LC fiber connector should be inserted.

    OMG The Optical loss that the distribution/termination box must have (with that angle right after the splice holder), I'm in awe for it even have recognized the other converter. You should show us the OTDR measurements :D I bet that at least it looses -4dB right of the bat :D Good thing the LC Pigtails are really good. Anyhow... As an example, good video. As an educational point, please don't tell me you arrange the fibers/pigtails like that.

    • @dipolen
      @dipolen  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are right. The angles are far too small, even if we consider g657a fibers. At the time we prepared this video, we did not paid enough attenion for that - we focused just on make the installation workable and everything was fine in this matter.

    Hmm, you typically don't leave that small handle on the SFP down at 9:04... Majority of SFPs I've worked with, it's the locking mechanism and you've literally just made the SFP loose by connecting the cable with that handle down.

    this is an expensive little project. the fusion splicer isn't cheep at all. we're talking $1312.76 USD. Might be better off getting a pre-made fiber jumper depending on the distance. It is a nice video though. Great Job!

      Mr Brian,
      thank You for the comment. Please note that the making a pre-made fiber is not always a viable solution and sometimes we just must make a splice :).Also, this is a professional equipment for people that will use it daily, just like a chef's knife :) Lastly, this particular splicer is relatively cheap, comparing its functions and accessories to similar devices.

      Brian, when I installed multi-mode and single-mode fiber in early 1990s (bank, hospital campuses) the splicing required an qualified splice tech and larger splice hardware ... that was a service (charges by hour, day, or contract install). The charges were typically no more than cost of this modern hand-held. A small charge for $250,000 cabling installation serving 1,000 users.
      Fiber was used because of distances involved (>100m,

    Great video. Is that a 62.5 micron pigtail on a 50 micron fiber? If so your probably having some loss but an excellent educational video on how it all physically connects. Those pigtails should be Aqua color if there also 50 micron. It obviously works over that distance but may not pass TIA 568 standards.

    • @dipolen

    • @dipolen
      @dipolen  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello,
      in that case the ethernet cable is just a medium that transfers data between cameras and media converter from one side and media converter to a DVR from the second side. No internet connection is necessary. If there was a need to, i.e: access the video feed from the DVR on an mobile device or from another location, you would have to connect the DVR to the net, hovewer in this presentation we did not have any Internet connection. Imagine this as a closed network without the access to the net.

    Great video but I don't see the advantage of this setup other than a longer run than cat cables can handle. I have an NVR system with POE and getting EMI was hoping to be able to use fiber optic to avoid that problem. With the setup in the video still using POE this would do me no good. Anyone have any suggestions to help me out? Power line filter? I am in a heavy industrial area with many overhead power lines.

    • @dipolen
      @dipolen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The question is what is affected by EMI. It could affects cables, but in this case it was not the cause. If cameras, NVR or PoE switches/adapters are affected not many things can be done.
      As for the advantages, the one more can be safety when thinking about short circtuis from different part of network. Using even 0,5 m fiber cable you can separate the networks with no surge risk.

    Hello there, great video. Can you please explain to me why did you use 2 fibers?

    • @dipolen
      @dipolen  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello,
      we used 2 fibers because the Media Converters used in the movie require 2 fibers to operate :). One of the advantages of such solution is that You use only 1 wavelenght in a fiber. If the number of fibers You can use is limited there are 1 fiber solutions.

    Thank you for this presentation.
    We will like to experiment with 8 IP Camera using fiber optic within a small office. I have some questions if we setup or 16 Camera system:
    a). Do we still need to buy and setup two separate "distribution / termination box (ultimode TB-02B) - as shown here?
    b). Must we have POE enabled Switch for 8 IP Cameras?
    c). Are there any other equipment we would need to buy to complete our 8 IP Camera system?
    Please advise.

    Can we connect multiple cctv units to single NVR using sfp module/any other things

      What is a CCTV Unit? We are not aware of any NVR that is equipped with an SFP module? If You want to connect many cameras to a NVR You can do it just like in the movie :)

    How many poe ports on a switch can the media converters handle? How many for the single fiber singlemode fiber cable media converter?

    But why you need that termination box (the white box) if you can install the LC pigtails to the fiber cables and plug it directly to the media converter or SFP module in the switches?

    • @dipolen
      @dipolen  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to protect the splices and pigtails in the termination box, without wchich they would be prone to damage.
