interestingly enough, this video is old and i still have every single pair of performance that i had bought before making this video. they have literally been through it all and still going strong, no rips, etc. it is crazy how tough they actually are. so i don't feel the need for a heavier pair of pants in most situations... comfort is pretty much king for me.
I have 9 pair of the Outdoor Performance pants and I absolutely Love them. I'm a carpenter, I ride horses at least 6 days a week. they keep you cool in the heat of Southwest Florida, Yet they with a thin base layer of under armour, keep plenty warm in a northern Michigan winter. I totally love them.
ive been wearing the outdoor pants for a few years now and theyre my favorite for work and for warm weather. not made for winter but they breath and stay cool and quick dry etc. super comfortable. they have newer ones out now that are thicker
I have been wearing the Wrangler Flex Cargo pants ever since they became available in my area years ago. I have switched over to the Wrangler Performance pants due to constantly wearing out the seat of the pants at the seams on the Wrangler Flex Cargos. I believe it is from all of the sliding in and out of our vehicles at work due to job duties and security checks. Hopefully the Wrangler Performance pants hold up better or I will be switching to BDU'S. They are both comfortable and dry faster than jeans which is nice working in a humid environment.
most likely the fabric used if i were guessing. the performance have a lot more stretch, which helps with friction. the same holds true for those other tactical style pants that use rip stop fabric, it is way more durable, not necessarily more stretchy. i 100% do not wear the flex cargo anymore myself. i do wear the performance for everyday use and then other offerings from TruSpec and Beretta if i need something a little tougher but still lightweight, breathable and with a little stretch.
I purchased a pair of flex cargo pants on sale for $10 at my local Wal-Mart and after 6 months of some pretty severe wear the pants have held up very well. I wear them at work where I am a maintenance technician at a press shop. I have done a lot of climbing, crawling, stooping, kneeling and bending while working around press machines and the Wrangler flex cargo have held up very well. No rips or tears in the fabric and no stitching failures, even the button has stayed on. Also no issues with the zipper. On the other hand, the velcro on the side pockets have long since failed and no longer work. Also, the pants need ironing after every wash, (they look pretty crappy without ironing). The pants also dry quickly when splashed with water and oil stains will wash out fairly easily. Overall, the pants have great for me in my line of work and I have purchased 5 more pair. There are better pants on the market but Im not going to put down any serious money on pants that are going to get ruined with dirt and grimes stains. So, the price is definitely right for the Wrangler Flex Cargo.
Love the Outdoor Performance pants for backpacking. Only downside are the back pockets. Very open / loose. Billfold or cell phone can slide out. But, overall, love them.
this is true... i don't like velcro or especially zip back pockets but seldom am i in a situation where something like that matters and if i am, i will typically swap my wallet around to a cargo pocket
My SIL turned me on to the Performance cargo pants and I love them. I have 2 of the Flex cargo as well. I prefer the Performance as the better of the two. I just purchased mine in January, 2021. The Performance now only have 5 belt loops. Wish they had 7 like the Flex. Thanks for the great review.
awesome, yeah, i don't like them. out of all the pants i have ever worn since dropping jeans, they are by far, hands down my least favorite. i have multiple pairs of the performance and multiple pairs of pants from other brands but as far as Wrangler goes, after extended use, i go performance. but we are all a bit different in what we like, right? i will say this, i still have my flex, wore them yesterday (laundry day) in fact. and while they don't seem as comfortable to me (fit or feel) they are still kicking, still holding up, same pair from this video. 🤣😂
Anybody wondering, I just bought 2 pairs of the Outdoors, and 1 pair of the Flex Cargos at Wally World today! $21 for the Outdoor Flex, and $20 for the Flex Cargo. Feel amazing!! A little tighter in the legs than I like my pants, but nothing like the hipster skinny pants. Great video bro!!
I found the outdoor performance at Wally world on the weekend. There so flexable. I'm gonna turf all my jeans and by 5 more pairs of these. No grunting like an old man. So easy to move around. Super light too. Nice review thx!
🤣😂🤣😂 how do you know that was not my intention all along? you gotta watch TH-camrs like that. since this video is a bit old, will give you a follow up... i am still wearing the same pair sof outdoor performance pants that i bought when this video was made, dirty & stained, sure but no tears rips or other problems. by this time into a pair of jeans, i would have holes everywhere. though they seem thin and flimsy, they are actually quite robust. .
Bought the outdoor zipper pocket ones for work janitor work and so comfortable I wear them on off days with rolled up like capris sooo comfortable just don’t order them from Walmart online they do not come as described No pockets
Dude as a professionally license bodyguard and a full-time federal security officer ... I like them both the both clean up nice as. You still get that tactical kool look I have big legs I work out a lot ... One thing that pissed me off about the 511 striker pants is they were just not holding up after six months a man I do a lot of running and gunning and training lifting and rolling around on the Matt but for the price of these wrangler pants I can buy four pairs to one striker and just rotate them out ... and they’re comfortable of shit rather your care and inside the waistband running a full duty belt running a gun belt with a duty holster with a leg strap and an outer vest my tactical shirts or uniform shirts stay tucked in .... I like them both .... I run both
Thanks for sharing I just recently bought theses since i needed something for paintball that was simple with enough flexibility for running around since I didn’t want anything flashy and I was wondering how well they would hold up plus we got a pair in black for my dad who works as a security guard since they seemed comfortable, my main concern was durability but your comment made me feel more confident that they’ll last, thank you
Your concerns about the ruggedness of the outdoor performance pants Is a non issue. I've been using both of these pants They are very durable. One nice thing is the weather resistance. I've chained up the semi truck many many times with these pants traveling over the mountain passes this winter the pants are great. Dry out quick pockets have had no problems. I do not keep sharp objects in my pants pockets.
i don't keep rough edge or sharp things in my pockets either, that said, my concerns have not really come true since this video was made. the performance have held up super well... both fabric and zippers, which i will admit, surprise me a bit. and, i have not knowingly been careful when wearing them either, just go about any normal daily routines. now all that said, i no longer wear the flex cargo. i found i simply do not like the fabric more than anything. between the performance an my Tru-Spec pants (which are different fabrics) they just felt weird, more coarse, less breathing, etc.
@@CloverTac try the pile lined version, I have these also. They are warmer and the medium weight polyester pile is comfortable. These do not have cargo pockets, only a small zippered slash Pocket but they are rugged.
@@tomhickman1006 i appreciate the tip but I am here in TX and with the heat, humidity and a looming medical issue aggravated by both... warmer is not what I need LOL
I have been a portly boy all my life , but I have always been flexible and I hated the options available for "husky" kids they always focused on fitting the waist and neglected everywhere else. I spent my formidable years unable to lift my leg no higher than a street curb due to incredibly limited crotch space.. That was until I found a catalog for big and tall men called KingSize Direct. They sell Jeans that are 98% denim and 2% lycra and they are awesome for mobility and comfort. The one thing I have to disagree with you on is the angle cut pocket opening on the cargo pants. I pocket carry regularly and I have found that those pockets tend to not only allow the gun to shift around, but also tend to expose the grip of my weapon in the low cut opening.
i don't pocket carry... except for the occasional NAA revolver and it does fine. these pockets are considerably deeper than the low part of the opening. if you go with the other style pocket you might as well carry on your waist because you are gonna have to pull your shirt up regardless to get to them... unless you tuck in of course. but again, just me, i seldom go tucked.
as a life long denim jeans guy (prior to trying these types of pants) i can say that they are certainly more durable than denim, i never would have thought so but am STILL wearing the very first pairs i ever bought of the blended stuff
I tear up all my britches. Unless they are made of steel cloth. Rip the pockets, belt loops. Zippers buttons. And I work in a office! These look good though for light duty.
yup, i don't do heavy pants, if i am going that route for whatever reason i will go back to jeans for the day. so far i have avoided that, have not worn jean or denim in months. i love the light, flexible fabrics that breathe... getting older i guess and comfort is king to me
yeah, thanks for the question, i am not sure what you mean by "these", guessing maybe the performance series. this video is over a year old and while i did purchase both styles at wal mart, none of the stores close to me carry the outdoor performance series anymore. that said, i have seen them at other stores while traveling, online, etc. they are identified pretty easily by the branding in the wasteband and the fact that they do contain spandex & nylon in the blend. if you are looking for the same exact ones shown here, i would pay attention to that blend most of all because that is where the fit and comfort will come from regardless of the "style". and these being over a year old, maybe wrangler changed up the way the pockets or seams or something are, but so long as that blend is the same, you should be good to go. if that didn't answer all of your question, just let me know.
Thanks.. by these.. I meant both pants.. and I got some today.. the are called rugged utility.. from walmart.. they are 98 cotton 2 spandex.. they are different style for sure.. they feel rugged like flex cargo.. but seem to fit more like the outdoors... I wear the flex cargo shorts on a daily out here in California... but with our short winter near.. I wanted pants.. saw that Tractor Supply Co sells the flex cargo.. will be getting those soon.. thanks man.. great vid.. 🤙

Yeah, wouldn't pay $40 for them, I have seen them as low as about $15. I have not looked lately but the local stores around here have had them in pretty good supply.... maybe I need to play closer attention. Everyone that has them seems to love them, maybe it is a seasonal thing.
hopefully you see this comment but recently made a trip through north east texas and into oklahoma, we stopped at multiple wal mart stores on the way there and back, all of them had ample stock of the outdoor performance
