Listen closely to the tweaked Georgian scales too. It isn't just classic intervals but some constrained 3rds outside of even Roman scale architecture. There's a Wikipedia about it. Georgian music is fascinating.
I've been learning how to play some of their songs and it's like a breath of fresh air. They're simple but very interesting. Don't know too much about the theory behind it but I can see there's a lot more minor chords than in a typical "western song". Listen closely to the tweaked Georgian scales too. It isn't just classic intervals but some constrained 3rds outside of even Roman scale architecture. There's a Wikipedia about it. Georgian music is fascinating.
I've been learning how to play some of their songs and it's like a breath of fresh air. They're simple but very interesting. Don't know too much about the theory behind it but I can see there's a lot more minor chords than in a typical "western song". I had the lucky chance to listen to this group in Pigna at Festivoce festival in Corsica _ France. They are really talented artists. They have beautiful voices and great passion...and they are good dancers too.
