I understand the Ranger being distrustful considering they still believe Claire's hiding something but they dropped the ball not keeping her in the loop.
Oh yes, they made one step towards each other? Now's the time to take two steps back ;D Ranger is such a prick, but Claire does hide something so I can't blame them. And those trust issues came from somewhere, I understand them. And they do care and want to help. Just by thier own, since they fucked up in the first place with this case. I wonder if the Ranger can't trust Claire because the last time they did trust someone to that extent they got hurt. WELP IM READY FOR A VERY EMOTIONAL CONFESSION AUDIO
Oooooo and the plot thickens. Honestly I can understand both Claire and ranger in this situation and I imagine ranger is more than a little angry that the poachers probably went through a combination of bribes and loopholes to get out of that situation scot-free. Seething even, and probably wracking their brain on what they can do now. The way I see it is that they didn't just reject Claire out of trust issues they have of her but also just...if they don't know what the fuck to do, help from a bunch of people would only become more confusing than helpful. I can see them doing research and investigation on their own and off the books though. It'd be funny if Claire found them at the library researching obscure laws and history
Think about it. Claire told the ranger to investigate the carcasses in the walk in while they were trapped. How many of those carcasses would have tell tale signs of animal kills versus being rifle kills even after dressed? The poacher's testimony of wolves in the same area where the family hikes, yet presumably no boot or shoe tread tracks in the area, only animal tracks? The reaction solicited by the costume and the presumed joke confession? Claire's first answer about " the giant wolves" and the reactionary mark about " my family members catching a bullet" upon hearing about the release of the poachers? Honestly, given these data points, my bet is that the reason why the ranger is so much of an obsessively compulsive investigator is because the evidence finally clicked all the puzzle peices together. I wouldn't even be surprised if the ranger is being investigated by the Shifter version of Law enforcement before they Scout them as a potential candidate for their ranks to assist with taking care of the poacher situations. These are only theories though from my end. Only time, the pen, and our Narrator can tell what will go on with the story... and maybe the Seer observer. That one's a gamble though. XD Keep up the awesome work though!
Enemies to Lovers plot-line progressing through mutual hate of someone they both agree is worse, love it. I still think Ranger has some suspicion about the supernatural elements in town after a rough encounter in their backstory. I might be over analyzing but I feel like they had a weird reaction to Claire spilling the truth, it's hard to tell obviously, and hearing all that might have helped put them the two steps back after the one step forward at fall fest. This whole plot-line keeps getting more interesting. Also a new Hunt? How hard is Claire gonna go after these people? Is She putting people down?
