Thank you for this video. My son has a 2000 ml320 andvit just started acting up a week ago. The car would not start at first try. I changed the fuel filter/regulator and it fixed the issue
You need to show the hardest part is how you're disconnecting the lines from the filter. When people search for this videos that's what they want to see the most and you are missing it.
Been having the same problem with my 1999 ML320 (same Fuel Filter and Pump). After testing fuel pressure I figured it was the Filter/Regulator. Ordered a new one and hope this fixes my issue like it did yours. Thanks for the great video. You should add some Tags or keywords to associate it with the Fuel Pressure Bleed and Hard Starting Issues that pertained to the fuel filter and Small Evac Leak. That would make it easier for others to find this awesome Tutorial. Thanks Again Pete
I cant thank you enough Pete! Your video is the only one that gave a full explanation of the problem of no fuel pressure at start up. It was detailed but I see someone complained you didnt show how to get the lines off the pump. Here is a video explaining how the lines come off: th-cam.com/video/-IGrSMAsgRw/w-d-xo.html
The best and easy way to R&R The fuel pump and fuel filter on 01-05 ML Mercedes is by dropping the fuel tank and cleaning it it's .much easier this way
Since the fuel rail showed zero pressure when the gauge was attached to the schrader valve on the fuel rail, it was immediately apparent a problem existed with the fuel filter/regulator which is supposed to hold pressure in the fuel system...app 60 lbs .
What part of the filter does the new long hose connect too? Is it the single part that extends from the other end of the fuel filter (new long one) or does it connect to the side at the top by the other two lines?
Hi Pete, The most painful part of the Fuel Filter replacement is to disconnect the fuel lines which you escaped.. did you disconnect them from Fuel Pump Side (which is another painful process of removing the back seat).. or how did you disconnected the lines. Thanks for the video.
do you have a link or part number to the harbor freight pressure tester? I couldn't find it on their site? did you use a particular fitting to adapt it to he ML rail? if so, can you ID that for us as well?

Hello
Is the pressure gauge you used the same one is used for tire pressure?
You new a fuel pressure tester. $13 at Harbor Freight.
What is the name of that tool i cant find it in the harbor freight website
do any of the fuel lines need to be clamped before disconnecting? Did you disconnect the lines from the pump or the filter?
Good job
thanks for the video
Any tester will work. No special fittings needed.
