Sarah and Chelsea Handler actually gives excellent advice on their podcasts. You would think that they had degrees in psychology. They’re both so quick on their feet. A lot of these questions I would have to think about the answer overnight I would not be able to answer some of these things right away.
You so perfectly described my own experience - one that I've always had trouble putting words to. I too spent the entire first 19 years of my life feeling "homesick" (EXACTLY right!) but that feeling evaporated the moment I stepped off the train to New York City on my 20th birthday. And it never came back. So I WAS homesick, but I was just homesick for New York all that time. THANK YOU for giving me the right words to describe it at last! 😘
My favorite podcasts this one, Chelsea Handler podcast (she also gives excellent advice) and The Endless Honeymoon podcast. And every now and then I cruise on over to Mark Maron’s podcast bc he gets really great guests to come on.
I never fault anyone for not being able to handle the truth. The truth sucks, and it is quite bothersome to deal with. My approach to the truth is viewing it as a reminder of the work we have left.
I've felt that hopeless feeling before. It's awful. I would up in a mental institution where I learned about coping skills. Examples can be: making SURE you take a shower every day, even if you have to trudge through it. Force yourself to go outside to get some of that sun. It only takes like 8 minutes, and it will help you feel a bit better. Plan something to do in the future. That way no matter how bad you're feeling on a certain day, you always will have something to look forward to. If you're going to the grocery store, take a different route to see different stimulating things you wouldn't have otherwise seen/thought about. Small things like that can add up and perhaps make you feel a bit happier. Also, if you have the means, talk to a doctor.
Seriously never done this one before: Thank you for the sponsor recommendation for dog food. My German Shepherd "Soda" was seriously picky about her food (it was all about the toppings). I had her on the beef since February, and the bowl is always clean. ♥🐕🦺
