Thanks for this video. It woke me up at 440 am. I had no idea what was going on. Living alone and being short, I struggled a little and got them both down. Thanks again.
this video helped me to the point of success. I read the paper manual no help, I called the company, they were very very helpful and respectful, Kidde👍, so between the two helps this 72yr old guy found out about how to stop the chirping, change the batts as well as the need to change every year. So thank you. 👌🏻
This video saved my sleep and could potentially save my life! Of course mine was beeping at 2am on a weekend in an apartment building. And no maintenance number posted. Sometimes you have to do it yourself. THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
Thank you for your comment, this $&@? started beeping at 5:20 am, we changed the battery and continued beeping . That noise made us crazy at that time; 30 minutes latter started beeping another one.
As a medical student I know about diagnosing diseases and treatment, but I know zip about how to fix the little things like this in my life. Haha, thanks a million for this. :D
Thank you so much for share this helpful video,👍👍👍 this was my first time to do 10 in the house, but there’s still have another beep was it’s in outside, but i can’t found where is it today? Is it only 1 battery? My house has 10 kidde smoke carbon monoxide detector Please teaching me ? I heard 1 beep from outside or maybe rooftop,I don’t know why?? 🤔🤔
Sometimes late at night it’s good to take a baseball back these things and just knock them off the ceiling if you’re trying to sleep and unplug them of course that makes it hard to fix it when you gotta put a new one in and you knocked off the thing with the baseball bat and the mouth is destroyed if you’re gonna put a new one in the mount anyway and there’s usually two or three Phillips screws holding it into the plaster or that wood on your ceiling or whatever thing is not used to that you’re so mad about these things you can probably disable the battery and disconnect the wire so you have to push it up toward the ceiling and spin it counterclockwise to make it drop off the ceiling and then you can unplug the wires and just take it off the ceiling and pull the battery out And if it makes you take it or throw it in your garbage can outside and then it’s gonna irritate your neighbors
This helped me Soooo much!! Thank you!! I had two going off at the same time. One was in my hall upstairs and one was in my living room. I was in hell!!
Haha yep. I guess you could take a hammer to it. But that would make a mess. Hammer and wire cutters. But twisting it off and removing the plug is civilized.
Is the time to EOL 10 years or 8 years? Been told that it's 10, so I dunno. Looks like it was "expired" contrary to the date printed! Was August 14, 2012 the time of manufacture? I do agree that it looked like it was possibly made before 2011, until I saw the back.
Air in your place could be bad Your furnace might be defective If gas furnace you might need to replace it Your heat exchanger could be bad in the furnace This can kill you
I hope this helps me when I get home from work! Thanks to my apt manager just telling me it has a battery take it out! Duh but where the heck is it I ask! She has no clue ! Thank you hope this helps me no sleep very annoying!
How do you stop making say "fire, fire, fire" every 20 minutes when it's a false alarm? I tried a new battery, shut the power off and on twice and it's fine for half an hour. Any ideas what I should do?
The two chirps meant that the unit had REACHED THE END OF ITS LIFE! If it chirped _once_ every minute followed by "Low Battery", then you would've had to replace the battery! Just replace the damn alarm!
I'm wondering if it means the same thing as "defective", like the issue that my father reported with one of the First Alert LF combo alarms, where he had to have to sent away. Where at least once, if not multiple times, had an incident where it would literally say "Defective!".
I agree out of service replace it after seven or eight years they go out of service on automatically. You can probably get them down with a baseball bat after that time frame and then put the new bracket.
@@moviestudioland What an ingrate. You are trying to help people. Thank you for this. I unscrewed it once already but could not see how to open up top to get to battery. There are no instructions for that all-important detail. I am not sure I am up to going back into the cellar to try again today. We will have to see how much I can put up with the chirping, which I cannot stand. Thanks again. 11/6/21

Thank you SO much for this video! I was extremely frustrated with this thing and got it after watching your video only once!

You are a life saver. It was 3:11 am and this woke me up. 😮💨 I was pissed because I already couldn't sleep and I have work.
You can run a fan on high and drown out moise
Thank you for teaching me something I will remember forever
Thanks, your video helped me figure out how to open smoke alarm.
The beep started driving me crazy 😜
Reminder: If it beeps twice it means the whole alarm is over 10 years old and needs to be replaced. Even with new batteries it will continue to beep.
Thank you for your comment, this $&@? started beeping at 5:20 am, we changed the battery and continued beeping . That noise made us crazy at that time; 30 minutes latter started beeping another one.
Thank you. I was able to change the battery and get some sleep. It was very well explained.
Thank you sooooo much! This thing woke me up this morning!!!!

Well you can use an Axe to remove it. Or a sledge hammer. Those work too.
No matter how many times I do this I have to watch this video again 😂

Are you not looking at what your doing? 🤣 3 times and you still didn’t noticed the tab went back up untill the end 🤦🏻♂️🤣🤣🤣 had me laughing 😆
This video helped me out so much! Thank you :)
How to unstuck the red arms inside the battery opening it got stuck when I close it without the batteries
Thank you so much. You save the day
Excellent video and thanks for the help! Be careful
Thank you! Why do they make them so poorly designed? And like everyone else it went off at 5 a.m.

Greatest villains of all time... Darth Vader, The Joker, and The Tab.
Love this thing and it is very well made for the price

Thank you sooooo much for sharing this!!!
Thank you for this video!!!
Thank you very much! Great help!
Of course. You deserve to have a good sleep.
Thanks for this!
I think when you hear the alarm chirp twice it means it's time to replace the old Smoke alarm to a New Smoke Alarm.
Agree. Into electronics recycle it goes
Mine won't come down no matter what. Wtf do they make these damn frustrating things. Battery on the outside is far better!
Baseball bat works too
Actually it's not changing the battery one chirp means replace battery but two chirps mean end of life
Lol @ wrestling with the tab 😅
I find it best to use KIDDE Batteries for KIDDE Detectors!!
Thank you so much
How do you stop making say "fire, fire, fire" every 20 minutes when it's a false alarm? I tried a new battery, shut the power off and on twice and it's fine for half an hour. Any ideas what I should do?
You could have some kind of electrical wiring that is burning if it’s still detecting something...
The two chirps meant that the unit had REACHED THE END OF ITS LIFE! If it chirped _once_ every minute followed by "Low Battery", then you would've had to replace the battery! Just replace the damn alarm!
you forgot to test it so the beep will go away
Dont you have to turn off the power first
Turning off power first always best if you can... Good idea
Thank you so much!!!

@@RJARRRPCGP if defective it's one chirp every 30 seconds NOT followed by "Low battery".
I did that and it still beeps
baseball bat to it then
It’s painful to watch your video. You are struggling big time!
NO pain. No GAIN
thank you🎉
Thanks buddy

Thank you so much for this detailed explanation! The kiddie manufacturers video was not very informative.

Thanks 🙏🏾
what the heck did people do before youtube?!
How drunk were you when you did this?
You would benefit from drinking less
2 beeps means end of life change the detector
take a hammer to it
It Reach it’s End of Life
I just want to reach in to the video and put thr fkn tab down
It is out of service replace it
I agree out of service replace it after seven or eight years they go out of service on automatically. You can probably get them down with a baseball bat after that time frame and then put the new bracket.
the tab is public enemy #1
Painful to watch
HAHAHAHA and he posted it.
Absolute POS design for battery replacement.
Do not buy this smoke detector. It should be easy to use
Can you suggest one that’s even easier than this one?
Lousy job my friend….practice before you film…
