just one detail - Magnus didn't sac the exchange, he blundered the exchange. All comentators were surprised, Nepo was shocked by this move and after the game Magnus himself said explicitly that he missed that knight move completely and that it was not intentional.

bruh thats not what he meant when he said "I didnt see Nc5 Nb3". What he didnt see was the IDEA of going Nc5 then Nb3. After Nepo played Nc5 magnus 100% saw Nb3 as a possibility but just decided to sac the exchange.

There is no way I would have even the slightest chance of understanding the strategies behind their moves without your incredibly good recaps. Best chess content and creator on TH-cam, period.
The thing that I love the most about Levy’s recaps is that he truly makes the game understandable to us 1200’s.
Listening live to Hess and Fabi’s commentary it was difficult for me to wrap my head around the ideas at hand.
Informative and entertaining but most importantly easy to follow recaps are why I love GothamChess.

Yeah, im sure the Fabi's observation on the game are better than levys and a 2000+ will learn a lot more from them than from levy, but im happy that there is a way i can "understand" this game.
I do learn alot from 5 hours of watching Fabi and Hess. I do end up knowing way more than i would just watching levy. But levy does occasionally bring up things not mentioned in particular broadcasts like comments by anish and anand's recall of the transposition. Plus levy is very exciting to watch. When i saw the magnus king move in the live broadcast i just knew levy's reaction would be so good.

Yeah agreed 100%. I'm an amateur player myself and it's hard for me to follow an analysis presented by Fabi that's aimed more towards 2000+ elo players. Levy is amazing at explaining these top level chess games to us lower rated folks. I always manage to learn a lot from these recaps.
Vishi and Anna on fide are quite accessible.
Honestly, you are one of the main reasons I even care about the World Championship in the first place and if it wasn't for your recap I would just look at the result and not care further than that. So thank you!
Also, bring back the intro. It's awesome and it doesn't break anything, it introduces the video beautifully.

The more I watch the live games, the more I begin to appreciate the games regardless of the draws. The positions sometimes are so tensed that you feel the game could go either way and it just has a better feeling than watching the recaps. Although Levy, loving the recaps. You make the moves easy to understand for the beginners and intermediates. Thanks a bunch for that. This is gonna be a great championship match.
You can also see the tension in how neat and dapper they both look at the start, and by the end they’re shedding clothing and getting more disheveled by the minute.
I learned to appreciate this in fabi vs magnus. It was so precise all the way through to the point where small inaccuracies seemed like huge blunders. Even though they drew all games, they were incredibly tense and exciting

I think it's just that some draws are infinitely more entertaining than others.
@@TheRealPunkachu 100%. But you still see people complaining about draws whereas it's a very fundamental part of the game. A draw is better than a loss.

Coming out of a 2 hour rated classical game, I can agree with this. I played Rb1 on move 8 and didn't move it again until move 30 when I traded it off

These vids really make chess entertaining, present the matches in a way that all skill levels can appreciate, and at least for me have really grown my interest in the game, as both a recreational player and fan/spectator. I started regularly watching chess videos through MatoJellic - I watched his recap of game one and it felt like a speedrun of the Position.
The way you present, explain and your energy is just the _best_ chess content hands down.

This is an absolute brawl it seems. This is my first world championship I've watched, and it's really cool to see the best go to rounds like this. Truly shows just the level of mastery they have over this game

I watched this match from the start till the end and it was so intense for all 3 hours.. commentators made this extremely good match and even I'm 1k scrub was waiting for every move. Insanely good match.
I was high key stressed for both players just watching the damn thing. I can imagine having to play this position. Ace recap as always Levy.

Fabulous, Levi! Thank you! Oh, and Fabi, Danny, and Robert/MVL ;) were awesome and on-point! Fabi especially brought a wonderful dynamic. He is so direct and doesn't seem to get Danny's screwing around or the bird-walks that commentators often take; he just states the reality on the board and the "obvious" plans to be pursued. Peace!

I actually like when players get out of their confort zone, only then you can see more exciting chess than usual
Yeah, for those of us who don’t know openings like a book we have to improvise from like move 5 so it’s nice to see them in our situation
Levy, you are the best chess youtuber because:
1. You demonstrate chess is fun.
2. Your analysis is deep enough to keep things interesting.
3. You don't get lost into boring variations.
4. You (at least try to) pronounce most foreign names correctly. Except for Maroczy because of the Hungarian spelling. In Hungarian the CZ is like the English TS in Itsy Bitsy Spider ‒ so, it's Marotsy.
I watch some of the other recaps and to me yours by far are the best, I throughly enjoy them thanks for doing this 🤘🏼

Crazy game. Magnus was very adventurous and kind of played into Yan's style of game. It's fun to watch two supercomputers playing for the world championship.
I didn't expect Levy to upload the recap on a daily basis but this is very good. He explains the position and the variations in such a way that even a 300 can understand. Good job, Levy!

This sort of reminds me of the inclusion of Petrosian vs. Fischer (1958) in Bobby Fischer's My 60 Memorable Games. Winning isn't everything in chess. So much to be gained by reviewing the players' choices throughout the game. Awesome commentary!

I'm a decent tournament player myself, but this was soo complicated at some stages, I admit I didn't understand a thing! Crazy game, interesting game ... I am looking forward to things to come!
I really like this format of analysis where instead of rapid firing through like 3-5 games in one video, you take one game and explain it fully. I would love to see it continue beyond the World Championship, even if it does mean you recap fewer games in the end.
These games are intensely fun to watch. Your recap commentary makes it super exciting

I would like for you to add the evaluation bar on the left to see who is winning at any point of time. Outside of this, great video as always!
Don't think that's a great idea. Computer evaluations often give you an idea what happens with perfect play but humans evaluate those kind of complex positions VERY differently. Only need to watch any of the broadcasts with top grandmasters that don't look much at the computer during the game and you'll hear many different possible variations that could be good or ok where the computer just laughs in your face.
It would be similar with this kind of commentary video. Levy could tell you how gangster a move is and you'd see the evaluation bar go down 0.5 and you'd think "Levy that's stupid it's obviously bad , computer says so." It's imo a lot more enjoyable to watch these recaps without evals even knowing what they said during the game.
If you want to see the computer evaluations for yourself just look at them on your own on any of the countless chess websites.

It's possible, the game will still remain pretty much equal tho... Maybe even a small lead to white after almost every queen move because then the rook will be attacked by the knight so it will have to move again, giving white time... At least that's what I think so...😅
Rb4 Qc3 and the rook has to go back. Rc8 then Rd8 and Rxc4 is still impossible while Nxc8 is a threat now
