- Here in this comprehensive feature, we’re going to take a look at the story of the Resident Evil franchise. We’ll be moving in chronological order, not in order of release, which means Code Veronica, RE 0, and both the Revelations games will also be included in this elaborate recap. However, please note that we won’t be talking about the fourth game since we don’t want to spoil it for someone who will be playing the upcoming remake. Besides that, we have included everything that is important to the series.
Also, do keep in mind that this is a compilation of several story recap videos we have done for Resident Evil games in recent years, though some parts of it have been updated to bring it up to date, while at the very end, we have also added a huge new and thorough recap of Resident Evil Village and its DLC.

There's actual lore that Chris put on crazy muscle before the events of re5 so he could fight wesker toe to toe because he got his ass whooped so badly the last time they fought
Resident Evil is my favorite game franchise of all time. The first one is the game that took me from someone who just played video games here or there or with friends to being a gamer. The first Resident Evil game on PlayStation 1 was the first video game that I would actually think about playing when I was doing something else.
I only each game in the series on physical media and some of the games I own twice. Like Resident Evil 1 and then Resident Evil 1 director's cut or Resident Evil zero and Resident Evil 1 remake and then I own both of those again on PS4 for the remaster. Resident Evil 2 and it's remake. Resident Evil 3 and it's remake. Hell, I'm about to own Four copies of Resident Evil 4. The original GameCube version, the PS4 remaster, on the Oculus, and now the remake.
It's the greatest video game franchise of all time.

My top five Resident Evil Games: RE4OG, RE1R, RE2OG, Revelations and RE7 (with an honorable mention for Code Veronica). Revelations is definitely underrated. It's actually fantastic. Glad to see the appreciation it's been getting lately.

Actually it's implied that there was more than one tyrant in the remake as he dies half way though Claire's story but is still present in Leon's as they are running concurrently.

For the RE3 portion I probably would have picked one version or the other. Using RE3 make footage while using the original RE3 narrative points could be confusing for those who don’t know it’s two separate imaginings of those events
thats what I was saying. They used the RE2 remake but didn't use the RE3 remake. The canon one is currently RE3 remake as the OG re2 and re3 are no longer the canon versions of the story. The og RE3 was already confusing enough because the branching paths which is why for several years no one knew the actual canon ending of that game.

@@fernathebest414 NO, the current canon are RE1 remake, Re2 remake, and Re3 remake and RE4 remake. You can't say RE1 remake is canon over the OG RE1 but then try to claim the rest of the remakes didn't also replace the originals. And RE3 remake doesn't change the fact that barry is still alive. That OG re3 scene where barry is flying them out is more of an easter egg that requires certain actions on the bridge. Even revelations 2 doesn't have barry say that he flew jill out and Revelations 2 is canon. He left racoon city conanically along with Chris and Rebecca. Unless you don't think the revelations games are canon?

@@KaiPurge No. The fact that they used models from RE3 remake doesn’t make it cannon. It’s not like if they could used the pixel models from the 90s.
Also RE2 remake is no way cannon. Ada never pretended to be FBI. That was dumb. Both RE 2 and RE 3 were reimagining of what happen. But we all know that the true cannon was OG RE1 2 and 3
For me the best RE games that i love are :
Resident evil 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 7 , 2 remake & 4 remake.
If Wesker comes back in RE9 I am just going to scream.

I definitley needed to watch this lol I only played the OG first one and RE5 and always watched friends from school or my cousin play the rest of them. I still gotta play the remakes of 2 and 3 but im playing the remake of 4 right now and im having a damn good time. im hoping for a RE5 remake and im going play 9 whenever it drops.
I think 5 and 6 remade could work if they streamlined and unified the story to the rest of the series and add the mold to 6s story in some small way. Oh and of course like RE4 bring back the survival horror feel.
5 is probably the most connected game in the the series. All 6 needs is to re-write Carla and not have an Ada clone lol. But the Family's connection to umbrella is pretty important and the steaks that arise in 6 are what the whole series had been leading up to since the beginning. Umbrella's consequences leading to a BOW war and potentially ending the world
This is a beautifully done synopsis of the whole series. Easy to follow, remember, amd even a little emotional. I had no idea the Ethan story was so sad. 😢

The G-Virus is a highly mutagenic virus, that is supposed to endow the user with incredible strength and regeneration capabilities. In practice, it does that, but at the expense of the intelligence and will of the user, with each resulting mutation reducing their humanity until they simply give into the base desire to reproduce, in this case with the next most closely related subject, in Birkins case his daughter Sherry

I think everyone is wayy too harsh on resi 6. It was a fun game and even with a goofy storyline at times, it was so exciting to see OG characters meet one another in a mainline game which hadn't happened before

I did more research. So the resident evil world is actually fairly normal. I used to think the t virus was everywhere and what little society was left was just trying to survive. Turns out the virus is pretty rare, and all the games are isolated events that are getting cleaned up. It's impressive when rose is a teenager, forty years later, the virus hasn't consumed the world

This game was good. I didn’t play the original, I wasn’t a fan at the time. I was into the first 3 at each games launch though, mainly the first 2.
Regarding re2make being foggy because of the awful a/b senario i just think the canon from og applies to remake: claire a leon b is canon
Hope Capcom remakes 6. 6 definitely needs an update because it was incomplete although it's still one of my favorite RE especially compared to RE4 but RE4 remake will be something special

Thank you, it’s crazy how we have fans that don’t understand how important remakes of 5 and 6 are, that was when all the Boulder punching and stunt doubles started, as much as people hate 6 and I understand why because of the gameplay, it had one of the best stories, including so many characters the first time chris and leon, ever had an interaction, then we got to see sherry again? What?, they just went about that game in a bad way, imagine all of that again, with a slower more realistic survival horror tone it would be epic.

Bare minimum 8 years from now. Seeing as to how much of a mess it was I'd say it's unlikely even then. Thankfully it's mostly just a standalone game considering 7 was a "fresh start" & 8 was just basically "7, part II"

Say what you want about RE3 remake, but the cuts definitely improved the pacing of that game’s narrative. That original story was a bit convoluted.

They really need to remake code veronica....it tells the continued back ground of chris and wesker which continues into re5 and it closes claires story... if you really think about it we only see chris and wesker in re1,cv, then re5...if you remove CV (as they seem to have) there are 3 games before we see chris again and all ofba sudden wesker is back,with superpowers and an old vendetta?? But if you look at the movies versus the video game storyline the movies aren't nearly as complicated.

Seems a bit pointless to miss out Resident evil 4, as its still a part of the series and story. I am sure im not the only one here who still wants RE4 explained as well, and regardless of spoilers, if you dont want the game spoiled, you can skip that part. Resident Evil is my favorite video game franchise of all time but I don't have any problems in saying that if the remake plays better, has better features, and a better story then it's not automatic that the original is better. The remake of the first one is better than the original, The remake of two is better than the original, And by all accounts it appears that the remake of four is going to be better than the original. They did drop the ball on 3-make though
