If Acustica's Ruby sounds so UNBELIEVABLE , wondering how amazing the hardware version is!

That unit really struck me something like 10 years ago when I heard it on an electric bass sound I tracked and mixed; it really MADE the bass sound, and I thought... I need to remember this...And it was the kind of studio where I could compare it quickly to all the other prized classic units. It was seriously amazing...

The VT-5 is essentially two VT-4s in one box, with front panel controls that adjust both channels at the same time. There are twice as many tubes, transformers, inductors, etc.

If getting the vt 5, could I use only the left input and the left output to use it as a mono unit?

@@franknobel4715 The VT-5 has only one set of controls for both channels, but otherwise the two channels are completely independent. So, yes, you can use just one channel as a mono equalizer. In fact, you could equalize two channels of different material at the same time as long as the eq you want is the same on both channels. (We also make the VT-4, which is the single-channel version of the VT-5.)

"As long as you use it carefully...only a couple of dB" Turns it to -12.
In all seriously I'm sure it all sounds good anyway. You can't go wrong with Fearn gear.

Hello! So are there twice as many tubes and transformers in the vt5 than the vt4? Doesn't seemed mentioned and would think most would like to know...

yes , it’s mentioned in the video . The vt5 will go hotter since it has doubled the amount of juice

Does the unit last 50 years and then can be repaired? Or does it die

All our products are designed to be easily repaired. The only parts that are likely to become unavailable at some point in the future are vacuum tubes. At his point, it looks like tubes will remain in production for many years.
Some parts, like tubes and electrolytic capacitors, have a finite life and will have to be replaced at some point. Our oldest units are now 30 years old and we are not seeing much need to replace electrolytic capacitors. Tubes generally last 5-10 years at minimum.
