    Man, I was never very good at this game and picked it up again recently. I am at cycle 100 and was running into issue because I was constantly having to go and find more coal, I built hydrogen and natural gas generators and sucked up all the gas they had access to. I made it to the surface and was thinking about trying solar, but so far 16 minutes in you've already helped me a lot. When I get back online I'll have to switch out for smart batteries. Looking forward to this section on using Hatches, I haven't tamed anything.

    Duplicant motion sensor with the light bulbs around the machines will make the dupe work faster, get the lit workspace buff, and save energy because when they walk away the light shuts off.

      or the pressure plate, so you don't have a light turn on just because some dupe decided to chill near the work area, and is standing right at the edge of the sensor.

      @@IcoKirov you’re right. pressure plate is the best option.

    When using gas element sensors i also add a second one set to polluted oxygen. This way it only turns on if its not oxygen or polluted oxygen.
    Another tip is if you have a liquid punp pumping partial packets pump first into a tank and connect the automation to the pump. This means you get full packets pumped into the tank when it goes low and it shuts off when full. Saves having a pump running continuously. Later game its not an issue but saves a good amount early on.

    great video! ty so much. I'd love to see more of this series for example for food and keep up the work we really appreciate it especially the new players :)

    Great videos! I've learned a lot and very glad I subscribed. But I have noticed something... when you run something a long way horizontally or vertically like ladders or pipes, a slight movement of your hand while dragging the tool makes it no longer straight.
    Did you know that you can make SURE they stay straight by holding the shift key as you drag the tool? It makes it a LOT easier to build long runs. This is similar to a lot of drawing tools in other programs that allow you to draw a line freehand, but holding the shift key constrains it to be a perfectly "flat" line.

      I will need to get into the habit of doing this. It's always felt weird to me, but it's clear that I should learn it and apply it :D

    42:56 I have a habit of putting switches on just about all my setups, even those which are supposed to be fully automated. I don’t trust fully automatic setups enough just yet lol.

      Totally a valid way to do it!

    im still running coal and it is infinat if you have a hatch farm I have two of them I also split a lot of my stuff out on transformers and put switches on things to turn stuff off on specific lines i also put a lot of my lights on motion sensors so they are only on when a dupe is present i have that in two seperet bedrooms becuase they cant sleep without a light as well as in my recreation room my only ones that are alwasy on are for food

    Been watching a number of your videos recently and making pretty decent progress in-game. One question: why do you use deeper 2-block liquid locks instead of the 1-block stairstep design I see in most other places?

    This concept is great! Kley should put this mode in the game!😸

    thank you! I learnd a lot with your video, especially with the last design. I dont know if you mentioned it, but maybe I lost it due to my english level. Anyway sorry for this question. Is it any option for priority in consumers? I know almost 100% how to deal with generators (producers), which one first or last, but I didn’t find in videos about consumers. For example, if i want to have the SPOM (those pumps and electrolyzers), as the critical “building”, which get first the power and last to disconnect, how can I do it? Thank you in advance and sorry again for my english.

      No worries at all, your English is great :)
      I am not 100% sure how priority works when it comes to consumers. I would assume the closer buildings to the power sources will get power first, but I really am not sure.

      I'm not sure if this is exactly what you want, but just as you can use individual Smart Batteries to turn generators on based on how low your power grid is, you can do the same sort of thing with hooking Smart Batteries up to Power Shutoffs to cut power to specific circuits based on thresholds in your network's power. Run your power cable branch into the smart battery, then the power shutoff, and then into the one or pair of power transformers. A red signal will act like a break in the cable. You can also set them manually like switches.

    To make coal renewable, use Stone Hatches and feed them Igneous Rock from a volcano, which will give you an endless supply of coal.

    is it possible to do the same gas filtration trick, but with liquids?

    • @Magnet_MD
      @Magnet_MD  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep! Just make sure you always have a place for the pipe to empty on all sides, otherwise it'll back up and you'll get stuff in the wrong places.

    • @TSVThomml
      @TSVThomml ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe i'm too stupid using the gas/liquid shut-off. Mostly the shut-off let a second element trough... no, not the correct one 😪
      So, for the sake of correct filtering I'm still using the energy expensive filter...

    • @Magnet_MD
      @Magnet_MD  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TSVThomml You just need to make sure they are consistently powered, and that the pipes never get blocked up in any direction. Minor instances of gasses going to the wrong places shouldn't be a big problem.

      You're probably playing on Spaced Out which has much smaller asteroids. The options should still be there on the default asteroid (natural gas geyser, magma at the bottom, etc).

    Pumping and filtering CO2 for carbon scrubber is silly. Scrubber successfully extract CO2 from air itself. You just need build it low enough.

    • @IcoKirov
      @IcoKirov 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the idea here is that you store some of it in a tank, so you can use it in a rocket for example.
      but yeah, i usually use scrubbers as well.
      bad thing with them is you have to do something with the polluted water. which usually mean cleaning it up for usage again. which mean you need sand, and so on.
      pumping it out is kind of simpler in a way.

      1) turn off anything you don't really need at the moment.
      2) automate buildings so they run only when they are needed and will be efficient (for example a gas pump can move 500 grams of gas, if it is pushing less than that in the pipes constantly, then it's not used efficiently - it still uses 240W but is moving only 50g for example instead of 500g)
      3) use smart batteries to turn off the power generators when you don't need more power (if the battery is near full, turn off the generator)
      4) find a renewable resource that can produce power - produce coal from hatches, find a natural gas vent, or something similar.
      5) use geothermal power - the steam turbines uses the heat from the steam to generate power.

    I think you're moving too fast, skipping too many things and using cheat mode too often if you're trying to teach new players

      Okay, that's good feedback. I'll keep that in mind for future episodes!
