Just had my first pour of OFR. Unbelievably great! I paid $25 in the Chicago area. It’s going to be a regular sipper for me. The taste is so good for this price range.
I usually buy stuff after watching your review, but today I decided to try a rye whisky without having watching any rye style review. I’d only had Rittenhouse which I liked but I went with the OF instead based on my love of 1920. Considered the Russell Reserve Rye at 36, but 25 for the OF felt like the right move when trying something outside my usual taste. I think it is very delicious neat and look forward to using in an old Fashioned and letting it soak into a cherry or two. Cheers!
Sounds like a winner. I JUST spied the OF Rye on my grocery store shelf yesterday for the first time. I love the OF brand, so this might have to be my next "complimentary" Rye in my cabinet (I always try to have at least one Rye on-hand).
Picked this up last weekend too. I can't wait to open it. You're right at this price point and at 100 proof how can you not pick this up. Cheers man great review and comparison as always! Ooh! cocktails! you know that's something I need to try maybe I'll do that next time I go out for dinner!
Definitly buddy! Its a great buy and a unique rye. Played really well in the cocktail. Make yourself an old fashioned or manhatten. Rye plays really well in those. Cheers!
No worries Moose! This will be pretty available eventually. It's tough now when new whiskey's come out but the Brown Forman distribution will be nationwide. Cheers.
Hope I don't have to drive to Chicago to find a bottle. Having a hard time in St. Louis Mo.... Restuarants are buying it up at the warehouse when it arrives.
Jason, A typo on your banner saying this mashbill is 65% corn rather than 65% rye. Really looking forward to finding this. Sounds great and a nice alternative to Rittenhouse in that price range. Cheers!!
Awesome review man. I’m glad you did a Head to Head just to compare its profile and what it would go up against in that Rye market. Awesome job, keep them coming 👍🏻🥃
I appreciate the direct comparison with one of my favorites, Rittenhouse. I've never really been a huge fan of the OF I've tried, may have to give this one a try if it becomes available in Ontario
I am in the Dayton area and tried finding this yesterday, but I was told that State of Ohio doesn't have it on their list yet. Just curious if you had found it locally in Ohio or if you had to make a trip south.
Up until about 5 days ago, I had never had a Rye.. plenty of bourbons, scotches and other whiskeys of various types, but never a straight Rye. I have been wanting to try Rye for a while, and found myself at the local Total Wine looking. After much deliberation, I landed on the Old Forester, and boy, do I like it.
RYE WHISK[E]Y MAKES A GREAT "BLOODY MARY" - MIX WITH TWO PARTS KETCHUP AND A DASH OF HEINZ 57, THAT IS THE POOR MAN'S BLOODY MARY - LMAO!!! PS - GOOD REVIEW - OLD FORESTER IS THE BOMB - BRAVO!!!

Was introduced to Old Forester last year. Haven't stopped drinking it. It is fabulous for the price. Thanks for concurring.

I love this one too. For the price and availability it rivals Pikesville.
You have a typo in your banner (i.e. "65% Corn"): 3:52. I just bought some of this, not expecting to care for it much, but it's really very nice.

Just restocked on this stuff. The fact that it is just a dollar or two more here in Brooklyn is nuts. I love this stuff

First time picking up the OF Rye … I’m really liking it. Nice store run with this and the Bardstown Origin bourbon. 2 for 2!
love the opening... kickis ass ....makes you wanna order a shot of anything.... make mine a rye .... cheers!
I'm going to pick up a bottle because of this review. I'm a big 1920 fan so I mine as well try the Old Fo rye. Thanks Jason.👍🥃
I'm sipping on Old Forester rye while I'm watching this video. Outstanding!!!
Really enjoying your analysis and presentation!
Loving how you are reviewing these new releases. Let's me know if I need to run out and grab one before they disappear off the shelf.
No worries Moose! This will be pretty available eventually. It's tough now when new whiskey's come out but the Brown Forman distribution will be nationwide. Cheers.
Was not a fan of this when I first opened the bottle but loving it tonight. Will definitely be getting a second bottle!
your mash bill label at 3:53 should say 65% Rye, not Corn. otherwise great video.
I’ve only tried the standard 86 Bourbon from Old Forester but I’d love to try the Rye (as well as the 100 proof Bourbon and other products) !
Hope I don't have to drive to Chicago to find a bottle. Having a hard time in St. Louis Mo.... Restuarants are buying it up at the warehouse when it arrives.
Good rye !! Im drinking it now!!
Opened this one last night. Loved it! I called it lemon cupcakes.
You are not far off my friend. That lemon note is everywhere. Loved it.
I’ve never had an OF I haven’t enjoyed. I love the 1920 and the OF “Banana Pudding” Sig100
I think this will become a fan favorite very quickly. Cheers!

Thanks I will see if I can fix.

Thanks buddy! This was fun! Both delicious.
Great review, I just purchased this and have to agree it's really great for a budget rye.
Great review! This is one I will for be on the look out for, cheers buddy! Looks like you can now start up your cocktail channel!
Maybe something there buddy! Lol
Check the Mashbill banner, At 3:57, No rye?
Yes it's supposed to say 65% rye. Trying to fix that. Thanks.
Great review (and timing)! OF rye is supposed to hit our shelves today and it sounds like a good one to pick up. Nice cocktail comparison!
Thanks Christine. Thought it would be fun. It's a different flavor profile but I really enjoyed it. For 24 bucks it's worth the pickup. Cheers.
Just thinking anyone who is a fan of the whisky row series is gonna buy this and be happy. Looking forward to trying this.
Most likely. Although it is a very unique and delicious rye in its own right. Cheers.
Great review Jason! I'll definitely be picking one of these up when I see it. Cheers brother
Thanks Richie.
Glad to hear this is good! Can't wait to try it.
I appreciate the direct comparison with one of my favorites, Rittenhouse. I've never really been a huge fan of the OF I've tried, may have to give this one a try if it becomes available in Ontario
Definitely give it a go. It's really different. For me in a good way. Cheers!
Great review. Hopefully this rye shows up in VA soon.
Great review Jason... sounds like I'll be getting a bottle of the OF Rye. I too prefer when the rye punches through in an Old Fashioned.
Thanks Jim! And thanks for the old fashioned mix. Delicious!
Jim, anywhere I can buy some of this cool OF mixture? Never thought of it to be a thing
I am in the Dayton area and tried finding this yesterday, but I was told that State of Ohio doesn't have it on their list yet. Just curious if you had found it locally in Ohio or if you had to make a trip south.
In kentucky I got it. Ohio gets everything a little late as you know so had to head south. Cheers!

Glad you do! One of the best available on the market. Cheers!
Lookn forward to finding one of these in the wild!
Excellent as always, Jason!
Msrp 23 ? Pennsylvania 29 plus tax. Still a value. You nailed the review. This is good. Cheers
Pennsylvania's law sucks. Although in Philly you can get OF 100 1L for $26. Can't complain too much about that.
I love OF Rye. I tend to like the less sweet more spicy whiskeys.
Love OF, have most of their product line on the bar looking forward to adding this one
Great both neat and in a drink. Loving this stuff!
Great review! I concur!
When are you going to review the Jack Daniel's Taster's Selection?
Going to open that on an upcoming LIVESTREAM and do a review. Looking forward to it. Cheers.
I can't find OF Rye anywhere in the KCMO area.
Hey, Jason. I've been pondering my next rye purchase. Sounds like it may be OF. Cheers!
Hey, Jason,
How 'bout those Buckeyes! They finally won last night! GO BUCKS!!
Definitely about time. Cheers.
Will have to pickup a bottle.
Excellent. OF doesn’t put their name on anything subpar

Picked up a bottle and it was not my taste. The “lemony”/herbal note made me nauseous. Hoping I can use it in cocktails so it isn’t wasted.
I get the strangest finish with this one that reminds me of a Jolly Rancher.
OF ALL DAY LONG. CAN YOU IMAGINE IF OLD F WAS ALLOCATED.
Hi. Love your channel. $32 in New York. Andrè from New York
Cheers Andre! Everything is a bit more expensive in NY I guess. I grew up in long island. Lol
Very cool. I grew up I Forest Hills Queens. My wife Massapequa L.I. So we chose Levittown right in the middle.
Sounds damn tasty
Any dill?
Not really. Very slight on the finish. Alot of lemon and honey.
I happen to still have a bit of that Old Forester on my bar... Think I'll enjoy it soon!
Sweet! It's a very unique and delicious rye. Cheers.
I taste watermelon on this one
