    Another bonus mid-week video from you is always a delight to watch. I did consider staying at the Washington a long time ago but chose another nearby hotel close by which has since changed it's name. It's very convenient to get from Shinjuku station to the hotel without stepping outside at all. I like that robot in the hotel. It's a shame you can't order the robot to go out to buy some stuff for you. "OI robot, please go to the conbini and get me a nice bento meal. That's a good boy" 🤣🤣. The views from the hotel are wonderful. I suppose this hotel is worth considering if you're staying in Shinjuku but I'm going to stick to the Southern Century or Sunroute Plaza for now. Thanks for the video. Take care of yourself and I hope you've had a great day.

    That was a interesting feature with the hotel card in the elevator... was that for convenience or for security? As in you can only go to your 24th floor if you had a room card?
    As for the bathrooms, I have never seen the toilet and the bath/shower separated except in Japan. I can not speak for a lot of other countries, but I believe the US and Europe only separate the two in bigger homes, such as a house having two and a half baths. That normally means there is a master bathroom off of the master bedroom, a second bathroom with everything for guests (normally separated via across a hallway for them), and the half bath is just a toilet and sink (normally on the first floor). I am sure that would be super confusing for someone from Japan where they call a room with just a toilet and sink a half bath. In England, I have heard the half bath also called a water closet, so it would not shock me to hear other former colonies of theirs to use the same term. Though I believe for them they call a actual flushing toilet a water closet as well, so it can be a bit confusing.

    • @travelloveranna
      @travelloveranna  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it's more for security. Because you can't go to other floors.
      True. We hardly see the separated bath in the US and Europe :/
      A water closet? Never heard of it :o

    • @user-kc1tf7zm3b
      @user-kc1tf7zm3b 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@travelloveranna ‘Water closet’ is an older English term for toilet. In the UK and Australia, the WC abbreviation is used in real estate property plans to indicate where a toilet is. The WC emoji has existed since 2010. 🚾
      WC does appear on Japanese maps of local tourist attractions from time time to time. 🚽

      $254 for one or two people is too much for a hotel room of this standard.
      As one Google Maps reviewer stated: “It’s just like a good business hotel.”
      A prime benefit of staying at the Washington is that there are many independent and affordable restaurants within the hotel complex, so the 16 minute return walk to Chuo dori for dinner can be avoided.

      When you consider the amenities available there, it’s much like a resort with all the restaurants. Most Resorts are several hundreds of dollars a night for two people. Often those rooms are nothing special as well, with the assumption that most of your time will be spent outside your room.

      Hmmm. Google tells me that there was a murder at this hotel in 2008. It was on the 24th floor, the same floor where our vlogger stayed. Apparently guests on the 23rd and 24th floor were evacuated due to a foul smell, which was coming from a decomposing body packed into a suitcase. I could not find out whether the murder has ever been solved. In fact I found news articles about quite a number of hotel murders in Tokyo over the years, in various hotels.

      The hotel location is only ordinary, as it is in the middle of nowhere by the Tocho and other corporate skyscrapers. There is not much to see and experience immediately around the Washington. As a matter of fact, when John Daub visited Tocho for his Covid vaccination a few months ago, he pointedly stated he has visited not visited the skyscraper district for years.
      The Washington is just an oversized business hotel with an array of restaurants, with the hotel having its own restaurant. The hotel looks dated as the property obviously opened during the Bubble Era of the mid-1980s. 🇯🇵

    Google Maps states, that through hotel booking sites, the cost of the Washington Hotel room for 2 is only US $57. To be fair, this $57 rate would obviously be for a basic room with no breakfast. But, the measly $57 cost for 2 guests does underscore the calibre of the Washington, as it just a nice business hotel. Nothing more. $253 for the Washington is paying way over the odds for room, considering what the hotel is really worth. 🏨
