| Japan began Week 3 of the men's 2021 FIVB Volleyball Nations League with a victory against winless Australia. Captain Yuki Ishikawa led the scoring with 22 points in the 3-1 (25-18, 21-25, 28-26, 26-24) victory for the Asian team.
This is what the players said:
Naonobu Fujii (JPN): It was a very tough game. This match ended with a 3-1 win for our team, but there are some small details we have to fix ahead of the next games. This result is the best we could get today. Our sideout worked well and we were good in breakpoints and this was a key to our success.
Max Senica (AUS): We were very close in the end, it was just a couple of misplays, but I'm really proud of the boys for how we were playing today. We got a lot of experience and I couldn't be happier with our performance. Of course it's not the score that we wanted. The speed of their attacks, especially in the middle - they were hard to stop. I think Lee had an amazing performance and trying to stop him is difficult.

@@Jason-sg7hq watching yuki from high school to college to italian leauge he has that skills already. The only thing that really improved is his receives. Thanks to his italian club for making him a libero the entire season.

I think the reason he didnt force himself is because powervolley needs him. During AVC this year you can see yuki is controlling. He needs to take care himself because the superlega is coming. His attacks werent that strong unlike durinh olympics.

石川選手はバレーの選手としては小柄ですが、なんだかんだでまずパワーがありますよね。
日本はセルビア戦の2セット目から全体的に流れが悪かったように思いました。他の試合でも2セット目を取られる傾向があるように感じます。
次はイタリア戦で、先ほど夜中の2時半から試合だとのことで少し拍子抜けしてしまいましたが、次も頑張ってほしいです！

All the comments seem to be about Ishikawa, but honestly lets not forget about Luke Smith. He's an absolute canon and was able to turn many sticky situations into points for Australia. Australia put up a good effort in this match.
Its because yuki is the main man in the match. He did all to get that win. They were down 4 and most of the scores in the 4th set were from him so its normal
