As someone who used to only own one guitar... with a floating bridge... I appreciate you teaching in standard tuning. Brilliant channel and thanks for all that you do.

You're welcome mate, I never know whether to do it in std or actual tbh, need to do a vote!

@@LetsPlayAll Personally I don't see any drawbacks to teaching in standard. Will definitely benefit more people, especially beginners and those with only one axe. Drop D is different of course and there will be no shortage of people who disagree with me, but when the only guitar I had was an old Ibanez S series, I found myself quitting lessons before they started if it meant fooling around with trying to change the tuning down a half step.
I also wanted to say I really enjoy the songs you pick to teach. When I started playing in the 80's, so many of my favorite songs seemed so far out of reach. Now with your channel, I can learn them in no time.

@@BillyHellbent Thanks Billy, yea I think the drop down 1/2 step isn't worth the hassle personally. I tend to do that for AIC cos they're all in that tuning but food for thought, thanks for the kind words too!

Relatively easy but one of the most brooding riffs also. Start of this song always eats my soul.

For sure, amazing arrangement with fairly simple chords tbh

Love this. Been learning guitar for just over 3 months. Pumpkins are my all time fav band so learning as much of their stuff as I can (mostly from your vids and Marty).

Just came back to finish this song today after it being one of my first pumpkins songs when I first started playing 6 months ago. Excited to say it’s my first song I’ve 100%’d. Still taking a little bit of memory to remember all the sections in order when going start from finish guitar only, but I’ve done it 😁
A testament to your videos though, seriously are the absolute best I’ve seen on TH-cam. The songs you cover are right up in my lane too, so glad to have some common ground to expect more cool songs to learn from you!

This is one of those songs that really shows Tony Iommi's influence on Billy Corgan. His riffing is very much an indie/alternative take on Sabbath riffs.

It is nice to play in tune of how it was recorded but standard tuning is fine if dealing with open voicings at the nut or closed voicings because I can just throw a capo on. If the song gets complicated and using open voicings and licks up the neck it gets confusing.

Great video. I wish you would have broken down James' outro solo in more detail though. He does one little descending run that I can't quite get right. Ive been listening to the recording and trying to watch live. It's driving me nuts lol.

Don't think I can get that fuzzy distortion on my old line 6 amp lol. Classic song, first heard it when I was a little kid. Guess I can turn the gain and drive way up and add some reverb or something.
