Denis, you have helped so many people with your video. I have worked for several days to understand why I can no longer compile my sketch, but now I know it was the newer board library issue that you describe. My sketch is now compiling (as before) and I can continue work on my radio project. Thank you so much!
Thank you very much John for your message. It gives me great pleasure to have been useful to someone. When I made this video, I had no idea that so many friends would have encountered this problem, I thought I was a marginal case. :-). I wish you every success with your projects.
Thank you Denis I struggle for hours installing different libraries, checking the sketch, trying different boards then watching your video solved the problem in seconds Thank you once again 73’s Pete G4GRK
Hello Pete, I'm delighted to have been able to help you. Indeed, I too struggled a lot before finding a solution. Sometimes the hobby can be a bit of a tease. 😏 Thank you for your encouragement, it makes me very happy to know that this video was useful. 73 Denis F6CRP
I had the same problem. Searched for hours but did not find a solution. Until I came across your video and now the upload succeeded. Thank you so much for this info and calming my heartbeat! There was one more catch for me: during upload I got the errormessage "Wrong boot mode detected". Turns out that this is easily fixed by briefly pressing the 'Boot' button on the ESP board once the upload has started.
GOD BLESS!!!! I haven't wired it up yet....but after getting rid of the "charge only USB C cable" and finding one that worked and uploading blink successfully....I was then hit with missing libraries.....fixed that and then got the same error msg as yours "Dram error"....well I followed your instructions and it compiles and uploads!!!! So thanks....I will post a link to my finished product if it works....and give this video a shout out as it is very helpful! If this DDS VFO works well I will make it the heart of an OZ QRP 20m KIT I have. 73 de VK2AOE.
Hello, and thank you for your message. I'm very happy to hear that my experience and this video have been of use to you. You are the 4th person to have left a comment on this subject and to have encountered the same problem. This VFO works very well and is really nice to use with both the analog and digital display. An absolutely brilliant idea from JF3HZB. I installed it on an HF receiver, it's perfect. th-cam.com/video/XqalAifIlSM/w-d-xo.html Keep up the good work and thanks again for your message. 73 Denis F6CRP
Oh that's so nice Fréderick, thanks a lot for your comment. I hope you are well. The next video that will be released in the week will describe the receiver on which this VFO is now installed. 73 Denis

Hello Hans, thanks a lot for your message, it's very nice to know that this video was useful. Interesting information about the latest version. Fortunately all previous versions, from 2.05 , work. Have a nice evening. 73 denis F6CRP
Good evening and thank you for your comment. I'm not surprised, depending on the version of the ESP32 cards. Anyway, the important thing is that you managed to get it working, your comment will be useful to others. Regards.
I dont know how to install the 2.0.5, preference URL doesnt recognize a .zip URL and i see no app file in the folders? Someone help steer me in the right direction?
Hello Denise! I have thoroughly read all posts and your tips on how to deal with this problem. Unfortunately, when I try to reinstall the ESP32 package, the required version 2.0.5 does not appear I can only install: 2.0.15, 2.0.11, 2.0.12!? How to download ver. 2.0.5 ? Please help.
Hello, I hope you'll understand, my English is elementary. You need to download the ESP32 packages from your Arduino interface. Proceed as follows: - from IDE, select "Files -Preferences" - the last line of the window that opens reads : " Additional boards manager URL", click on the blue icon on the right - a new window opens. Copy this URL " raw.githubusercontent.com/espressif/arduino-esp32/gh-pages/package_esp32_index.json" - click on OK it should work Hope this helps
Good evening, no, that wasn't the problem. Square signals are normal, you need to filter this oscillator to get a purer signal. The problem was that I couldn't compile the code. The process stopped, returning a compilation error. The cause was a version problem on the ESP32 package.
Hi Denis, I’m struggling and I wonder if you can help me; When I try to install a different version of ESP32 I only get two options; version 2.0.11 and version 2.0.10 there are no other versions available. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Mike
Hello Mike, i think the first thing to do is to install a fresh ESP32 package. You can find the procedure here: Installing ESP32 Add-on in Arduino IDE, follow point 1 and 2 : randomnerdtutorials.com/installing-the-esp32-board-in-arduino-ide-windows-instructions/ Then follow what I've described in the video, uninstall then reinstall. Hope this helps.
Thanks Denis, that did the trick, i'm so pleased! I spent about 4 hours going around in circles, I nearly gave up but then thought I'd give you a shout.....I'm so grateful for your help. 73 Mike GM4HCY
I'm so happy. Usually I make videos for my own enjoyment that are of no real interest. For once, this one is useful. Amateur radio is a fabulous hobby. Keep up the good work Mike. 73 Denis F6CRP @@mikestokes235
Long video's are boring if like long books, films, music, they lack engaging content. If there is engaging content to say, don't be shy to make long and deep dive video's. We can always jump ahead on TH-cam, or back, or replay, but if you omit the content, we can't work with what we haven't been given.
