Ringatoto North Buttress ~ Tahurangi Traverse (Mt Ruapehu)

On 13 - 15th October 2017 we headed up to Tukino. After quite a few dropouts we were left with just the 3 of us, so we picked an exciting looking route up the North Buttress of Ringatoto Peak. The route guide suggests starting on the East side of this large rocky outcrop above the Whangaehu Glacier, however we wound up on the West side and picked a small icy line up a vertical crack, with the crux being a 10m traverse onto the crack from the valley floor. From there we continued to Tahurangi to complete a really great day out.
