    Haha triumph!!! I got the right rear spring in on my coil conversion, bad news I'm giving up for now on the left rear, the nuts are too rusty and stuck, so I've added a schrader valve and some airline to it and I'm going to have a hybrid air and coil rear!!!!! I've just got to put wheels back on and stuff and my little air compressor will be putting in 60lbs or so, I'm excited to see what happens....it may get me around for now, or who knows it might work fine. I had set up the airline to do both but the back nut on the right rear finally gave it up so I got that coil in this morning, I was going to have coil front and air bypass set up on the rear two, thanks to Far Reach Engineering channel for a great video on Air Suspension Manual Override

    for a while I was having hard time with my air struts' although i had 2" spacer on top of each I still needed to replaces front struts' every year. I received yesterday the heavy duty air to coil suspension conversion kit and I was wondering if I should put the 2" spacers on top to gain more height? I do go off road often.
    Also, how hard was it to install the module?

  • @chadbrandonstreet

    Your LR3 is looking good!
    What size tires are you running? It may only rub on those frame horns rear of the front wheels.... they can be trimmed back easily enough.
    Curious to see if it settles evenly front to rear, my 05 LR3 has the AB coil over, not the old man emu, but the standard coils... and it sits way too low in the back now. Thinking of swapping the coils for the ones you have. I stuck with the air suspension +2.5” Proud Rhino lift on my 08 and happy I did. Twice on trails now I’ve lowered it to clear overhead tree obstacles that I would of had to cut or re route had it not been for the air suspension capability to lower it. But yes theres a lot to be said for worry free suspension over the air suspension.
    Keep it up! Doing great man!

    How's that wind faring working out for you? I have it in my cart right now. Just trying to figure out if it's worth it. It's a bummer you removed the air suspension. The air suspension is actually pretty simple to diagnose and pretty reliable once you sort out the maintenance neglect from the previous owners but I understand your reasoning.
    The truck is looking good man!

    • @ty_zib
      @ty_zib  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly the wind fairing is just alright. It's not gonna reduce the noise down to zero but it definitely helps a bit. If you're a diy kinda person I'd say try to make your own before spending the money on the front runner one. Its just a slanted piece of aluminum. If you want the consistent frontrunner look then go for it. It's nice quality and fits well.

    I'm currently getting my a$$ kicked with my air suspension. Placed new compressor, used my GAP tool to refresh and still problems. I want to bash head against an axe! Local shop couldn't figure anything out. Don't want to trailer it 100 miles to the stealership. Really wanting to do coil as I'm constantly afraid of this happening off road or far from home. I just don't want to lose the clearance abilities. Is it still capable of going to moderately technical places at that hight?

    • @ty_zib
      @ty_zib  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been loving the coil suspension so far. The fact that I won't be chasing down electrical or air leak issues is a major plus in my eyes. It also rides very comfortably. I've conquered some pretty intense terrain with my current setup with no issues. I had johnson rod 2.5" setup previous so the 2" is just a little lower. Also depends on your wheel/tire setup. If you've thought about it this much I'd say go for the coil setup. Spend more time adventuring and less time fixing dumb issues. 🤙

    Firstly, your car, your money and you choices.
    IMO, swapping to coils just makes it like any other off-roader. Limited articulation without the cross link air system. Too much lift and you put long term strain on CV joints where you only get get that strain for short periods of time when in extended height mode.
    Surely you’re just better off making sure the desiccant canister is refreshed as this seems to be one of the main causes of air suspension failure.

    Removing the air suspension from a LR3 is like removing your hands because you don't fancy wearing gloves anymore. Quite possibly the worst thing you can do to this car!

    • @TravisFisher

      These people complaining about removing the air suspension must be all the LR3 owners that never take them off road.

      @@TravisFisher the whole point of the air suspension is being able to take it off road.... look at the off road setting then extended setting then super extended setting with off road. Why did you do that?? You’ve just killed the car. Nobody around me (including me) have serious problem with air suspension at all. Still original airbags. 8 years ago fixed the air comp. and going on. It was a cheap fix. We do all the off roading btw. Come on man!

    Sounds like you didn’t keep up with your maintenance, and now you fitted coils to it, you’ve completely mucked her up. It’s such a shame when people do this to a Discovery or LR3

      Gets to a point where long term future reliability and cost proofing is by far the smartest move.
      My 2010 D4 with 275k’s all up 2” lift conversion fitted cost only $2700 here in Australia c/w potential $6000 in parts eg 2nd air-compressor replacement, air-struts, ride sensors etc over the longer term.
      Btw my D4 has been immaculately maintained since new. Don’t hesitate.

      @@jamesrebbechi4471 $6000 potentially.....hmmm must be buying the gold plated parts. Compressor is £250.....struts are £100...... remembering you are highly unlikely to have to change every component I'm amazed at your statement. Absolutely ruined this truck by changing it to coils. Lost 8 inches of lift and completely ruined its off road settings and capability.
