(Though the crickets were deafening) Lovely! You do read about wasps eating into soft materials and foam. Lucky they didn't try the van's soft furnishings out! Just removed a beach ball sized nest from my loft. Dressed up like Homer in his radiation suit first. Cut it off the rafters with an insulation knife and bagged it pronto. Dumped it on my front drive and cooked it with a roofing blowtorch🔥. They weren't a nuisance, but I need to do some electrical alterations asap and wasn't sharing the space with them.
Al, be careful with Auto-doc, cheap as chips but buy cheap, buy thrice is what I have found with their product. Especially with rear discs and pads for my 2015 Civic. Replaced them three times in the last 2 year. Rust like hell and warp easily, I have a very smooth driving style and go through Auto-Doc kit like it's going out of fashion.
Can of proper Bradex easy start deals with wasps in seconds, faster than Raid even, hose 'em down with the stuff, they die quickly, and all's well... :P
Best cure ever invented for wasps nests is brake clean, they don't get time to be pissed off, instant game over. Even for inside the house it knocks them straight out of the air and evaporates in 5 seconds unlike a chemical wasp/insect killer. Excellent video as ever.
Funny how I see many old Mercedes and Transits (and other makes and models that are prone to rust) in France and Spain that have no rust or rot. Its obvious that the stuff they chuck on the roads in the UK in winter is what causes the rust and rot issues
Absolutely, road salt keeps the roads nice and dry to drive on but kills any metal (and incidentally any nearby vegetation as well, my city uses so much salt they've started to experiment with tree species that naturally grow by the sea, hoping they'll be more tolerant towards salt because everything else is slowly getting killed). Salt isn't great for dogs either, hurts their paws. If we can believe Eric O. of SMA (and I don't have any reason not to) NY state is even worse as they spray their dirt roads with brine in summer to keep the dust down.

Spray WD40 on the nest, it kills it and they wont come back looking for it, just done on a nest in my garden

Here in Spain you cannot put a RHD van onto Spanish plates. Had to sell my really good 2.5 Vivaro before I moved here (permanently) for that reason.
