Perhaps THE song to listen to from Porcupine Tree. Live it's even more powerful!!! Masterpiece! Next to go : Arriving somewhere but not here (live too)
Gavin Harrison is probably the most unique drummer I've ever heard in my life. He's up there with my favorite drummer Mike Portnoy (from Dream Theater). Btw if you haven't listened to Dream Theater yet I suggest that you check them out!
So glad you watched the live version as well, opens up a new Door for your reaction channel, superb performance from the guys that, perfect even, great reaction as always Todd,, now…. Now that you have this set up, you must check out “hatesong” live from Chicago, this one showcases the whole band,, it’s also outstanding!! You know you want too 😉
As much as I love later Porcupine Tree (say, post-Deadwing), and I do love it, to my ears it's not a patch on their earlier material. Sadly, their mid-era material is rarely available as a live recording captured to the quality of the later stuff. Hence my preference for the studio versions of tracks from their purple patch of four albums 96-02 (Signify; Stupid Dream; Lightbulb Sun; In Absentia). But what a band!
Are there drummers as technically gifted ( or better technically) than Gavin Harrison? Sure . But what Gavin has that is missing from so many others is that he has a voice. You always know it's Neil , or Geddy, you always know it's Gilmore, Stevie Ray , Eddie , BB King , you always know it's Emerson, Wakeman , Monk or Corea. You always KNOW IT'S GAVIN HARRISON.
I don't know the full tuning of the guitars but they are tuned down to C, no effects needed. If you look closely you can see John Wesley (the guy who played the first solo and backing vocalist) retuning his guitar after the solo, bent his strings out of tune.

One of my favorite drum performances of all time. Gavin is so smooth.
So true!
They gave a show two night in a row in Tilburg 013 for the DVD. I was there both nights. Will never forgot!!
I’ve heard/seen this so many times and it never gets old! Amazing performance ❤️ Would love to see you react to “Sleep together” from the same show 😊
I'll see what I can do, what album is it from, out of curiosity?
Found it!
@@MusicWithToddLedbetter of course ALWAYS live please!
I never get tired of first reactions to this video.

I really don't know anything from DT, so that would be perfect for me to react to. I have so many friend that love them.
Such a great live concert.
Love it and what a live performance!
Alex Lifeson from Rush actually wrote the first guitar solo.
He played it on the studio recording right?

Yeah , that was cool, such a deep haunting tone.
If Gavin just applied himself he might have a career in music
