Greenland would be the perfect place to study sustainability for people like myself. As a sustainability research scientist, I would imagine that additional research on the effects of space weather on climate change would be invaluable to the world. Such an effort with the Northern lights and solar storms could contribute additional understanding as to the rising temperatures of the magma pockets beneath the earth affecting the electromagnetic storms on the surface of the earth.

HOW HAS GREENLAND BECOME PART OF DENMARK ??
    - In connection with the sale of THE WEST INDIES ISLANDS to the US in 1917, Denmark had its claim to extend its sovereignty to all of Greenland recognized. A number of other countries also approved the claim and resigned themselves to Denmark taking all of Greenland under its rule in 1921.
Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, but has a high degree of autonomy, which was most recently expanded in 2009.
    - However, the autonomy does not include national affairs such as foreign and security policy and currency policy.
How much money does Greenland receive from Denmark?

I only hope that IF this goes ahead, a) the Greenlandic people get to vote on any changes, b) that their heritage, customs and way of life will be respected, and their natural habitats persevered and c) that one's the resources are depleted and the Arctic Ocean freezes over again, so all Arctic trade routes are closed, the U.S. won't just discard the empty husk of what is left of Greenland. Well, firstly, Alaska surely hasn’t been ravaged by environmental exploitation as the earth-worshippers would have all believe. Rather, Alaskans have prospered from their state’s resources.
It should go just as well for Greenlanders, most of whom are currently settled along its southeaster rim, particularly in the city of Ruuk.
There would, however, be at least this one problem with Greenland coming in with the status of US statehood - its excessively low population.
Right now, the average population of a congressional district (CD) is somewhere around ¾ of a million.
The state with the currently lowest population of a CD is Wyoming, with under 700,000.
Trump recently suggested more realistically that Greenland might be combined into single state with Maine, which already has two CDs. In this arrangement, Maine would continue to have its two CDs, since the addition 56,000 to its population would not significantly affect its total.
Nearby Iceland, however, does have a population of 393,600 people.
If icy Iceland were to come in along with Greenland, it may be at least marginably justifiable for these two islands to enter as a single new state.
Might the Icelanders actually like such a new arrangement ?

@@ThorNado24 When you included New Zealand, you just described Oceania. It is a geographic region, NOT a continent, and belongs to a separate tectonic plate called Oceania. Zealandia, refers to the eighth continent between Australia and New Zealand. The mostly-submerged continent has New Zealand and New Caledonia rising from its depths, and was only put on the map by geologists in 2014. Australia is mostly on a single landmass and is referred to as an *island continent,* surrounded by oceans. New Zealand and Australia are both part of the Oceanian sub-region known as Australasia, with New Guinea being in Melanesia. In 1984, the name _Meganesia_ was suggested, meaning "great island" or "great island-group", for both the Pleistocene continent and the present-day lands, and this name has been widely accepted by biologists. _Meganesia_ includes mainland Australia, Tasmania, the island of New Guinea (Papua New Guinea and Western New Guinea), the Aru Islands, the Ashmore and Cartier Islands, most of the Coral Sea Islands, and some other nearby islands. Situated in the geographical region of Oceania, Australia is the smallest of the seven traditional continents.
