Juicy Lucy in Minneapolis. A burger stuffed with melted cheese. Also you really need to try the original of originals. Louis’ lunch in New Haven Connecticut. It’s literally the origin of the burger. Two pieces of toast and burger patty cooked to perfection, just a tomato and a slice of grilled onion on top. The place actively discourages you from putting anything else on it. My dad and I stopped there in 2018 as part of our four-week road trip across America, it was his absolute favourite burger he's ever eaten. We even got a photo with Marty (current owner Adam's dad).
Thank you so much for the warm welcome! I had an amazing time exploring your state and indulging in those delicious burgers, chicken fried steak and More. We can’t wait to come back in the future
Make sure to try some Bluebell ice cream while you're in this part of the country. The Jollys tried Butter Pecan,my Texas aunt's all time favorite. Also try to get some good onion rings and jalapeno poppers. Also if you haven't tried it try a catfish joint and have fried catfish and hushpuppies with a side of coleslaw, which is also a grease cutter.Or just see if they have pickles.I think I liked the look of Sid's best with those fries.
I really enjoy a burger with sautéed onions and mustard instead of ketchup. But what I most enjoy is watching the two of you travel across the USA eating the foods that are popular for that city or state. And on a personal note you are traveling to some places I’ve never been in my 68 years ( such as Oklahoma) so I’m living vicariously through you. And I love it!
Thank you for your kind words and for joining us on our food adventures across the USA! We're thrilled to hear that you're enjoying the content. Let us know if there is anywhere else we should go?
It's amazing how something as simple adding caramelized onions can greatly improve the flavor of a basic burger. Onions and ground beef are just made for each other.
I worked at a Big Ed's when I returned to college at 39-40. My manager (who was a great guy about half my age) taught me how to grill onions for our onion burger. There was a pot of melted butter kept on the grill, used to brush butter on buns then grill them. He would put a MOUND of sliced and chopped onions on the grill then pour butter all over them. Then, he would stir them around and let them cook until the onions were limp and almost translucent. When he piled the onions on a burger, it was so beautiful and scrumptious! He also taught me to clean the grill at closing using the melted butter. The butter both cleaned and seasoned the grill so it didn't take long to start up the grill in the morning and your patties and buns didn't taste of soap or cleaner.
My sister-in-law used to go by Roberts grill. Sum 46 years ago. And buy the fried onion burgers by the bag fulls!!! You could buy 3 or 4 for a dollar, I think!! They was a smaller Burger, but always tasted excellent! Even after traveling another 35 me to bring them home!! Back then they only had two things on the menu. Fried onion burgers and hot dogs with coleslaw on them! Not sure if they had french fries or not, we only had the burgers!! Man I miss them burgers!! That and Dan's Indian tacos, and the Oklahoma State Fair cinnamon rolls!
George Motz, the Burger Scholar, is famous for recreating the fried onion burgers & I've only seen him use onion, burger, and cheese on an Oklahoma fried onion burger. No pickles, no mustard.
Enjoyed this one! Also learned onion burgers exist which I’m a bit shocked I never knew. I lived in Dallas Texas for many years and ended up in Oklahoma many times for work yet I never found out about these. Now I wish I had and tried one
I totally agree that "less" is more with toppings to not interfere with the stars of the entree. I think it was Burger King that started the trend of lettuce and tomato on a burger. To each his own, but glad I broke that habit years ago. My burgers are no longer have ingredients atop that quite frankly, make it cold.
My family has been in Oklahoma before it became a state, so I have been eating onion burgers all my life. The best generally come from a well seasoned griddle with someone who has been around a day or two 😉 If you come try one, welcome, we're glad to have you 😊
We are so glad to hear you're proud of Oklahoma's food scene! We loved it and have more videos to upload soon! It really does have some hidden gems worth showcasing. Thanks for watching!
The trick to eating fully loaded burgers is to eat them top side down. The top bun is thicker and actually built to absorb the juices as they try to escape the bite.
Tucker's is great but Syd's is where its at! Not an onion burger but it's one of the best around...check out Nic's Grill (original location at 1201 N. Pennsylvania in OKC). You won't be disappointed! Also Patty Wagon a few miles up the road is amazing too.
I just really like you guys so much you make everything so fun… I have never had an onion burger, not like that and it looked fantastic… Keep on going… Florida girl😊

You should try Nic’s grill the next time. It is far better than the others in my humble opinion. But what do I know, I don’t have a you tube channel. Great show!
I love your trips to Oklahoma City. I used to live right in that same neighborhood where you ate at Tucker's. You should try Big Truck Taco just up the street. Also, go meet Mai at the Jimmy's Egg on Classen Circle and enjoy the best omelet ever. Funny story about eating lunch at Sid's in El Reno back before it became so famous. I used to travel the western part of the state for my work. I stopped in at Sid's one day for lunch, no knowing anything about its history. It seemed like a nice quiet little diner. I had just placed my order when the place was suddenly invaded by a hoard of rowdy teenagers. I hadn't realized that Sid's is right next door to El Reno High School. 😄 The place went from practically empty to SRO in an instant...it just added to the fun. Great burgers too.
great video! I'd absolutely devour any of those 3 burgers with glee! My personal fav for a burger is with jalapeno or I can do mushroom with 2x cheese.
Hey, thanks for watching and sharing your burger preferences! Jalapeno and double cheese sound like a winning combo. Keep enjoying those tasty burgers!
OMG YES, i commented before watching it all..YES You went to Roberts haha...Ed owns it hope he is their. Not much to look at but I can't wait to see which one you pick......so exciting my favorite I live over 30 miles from it I will go totally out my way to eat at Robert's.
I've lived here in OKC for so long and still haven't tried tucker's.. Definitely goimg for lunch tomorrow.. I love how many unique restaurants we have here
Roberts reminded me of a rural diner out of my childhood in the 80's. You sit down at a stainless steel kitchen counter on a bar stool in front of the flat top. There was always a elevated covered plate of donuts or baked goods to pick from. In a small town everybody knows everybody. you're having a conversation with the person making your food as you enjoy your morning coffee. Town gossip gets spread as people come and go. It eliminates the anonymity and keeps people honest. Decades after graduating, i've had humorous conversations with both a former teachers and my parents about times when I was paddled for screwing around. Then you hear stories about when your parents were in school. Etc...
This is so cute. I live here in El Reno. I saw y'all filming outside of Sids! They are pretty great there. You should've gotten a peanut butter shake to go with your burger, so good!
I live near there and have never eaten at Sid’s only Robert’s. It’s always amazing. I’ll have to try Sid’s and Tuckers. There’s also an old burger place in Kingfisher, OK called Burger Shoppe. Their onion burgers are delicious and they have curly or straight fries.
Roberts was delicious and the experience was second to none! watching them cook right in front of you! Sid's and tuckers were also very good and worth a try! we would love to hear what you think?
I agree with people saying to go to Braums!! My favorite shake is banana! They put actual bananas in it! Our Indian tacos are also pretty great! Love you guys!!❤
Thanks for the advice, Braums sounds like a great place to try, next time we will definitely head there. We do have more videos to upload from Oklahoma and will upload them soon.
I never knew this was a famous oklahoma burger, ive been making burgers like this since a kid when i was being taught how to cook, i LOVE sauteed/ caramelized onions and peppers on my burgers 😗🤌🏽
Thank You for more great content. That first bite of the last burger was obviously to hot but you went right back in and that says so much about how good it was.
Oklahoma has all sorts of different types of foods. You definitely won't go hungry here. There's something for everyone here. Sweet Potato fries are very good too if you ever get a chance to get them
None of them put the onion in the meat. You put the onions on the grill, place meat on top and smash it into it. This is why it’s not seared on one side. I make them at home often, I’m an Oklahoman.
There's another Sids here in Minco...the El Reno location is best though. My neck of the woods. I grew up in Mustang. Went to vo~tech in El Reno, worked years there. Also was a Sids in Yukon, where I've lived mostly. Hope you two enjoyed Oklahoma ❤️
@@thebritstry i shamelessly admit the over four years I lived in Lahaina Maui (2015 to 2020) were far better than here...but this not a bad place to live and grow up, West OKC suburbs.
When you said you want your fries to taste like potato it reminded me of this customer that came in about a month ago and started screaming at me wanting there food for free and a refund because their fries tasted like “potato”. I had this dumbfounded confused look in my face because fries are potatoes lol.
😂🤣 That's funny. But I do suspect that maybe they were doing that just to have a free meal. I can't imagine someone genuinely wouldn't know that fries are potatoes.. But it is 2024, so.
So glad y'all made it to El Reno! I grew up there and have to grab an onion burger any time I'm in the area. Johnnie's is my personal favorite but you can't really go wrong with Sid's or Robert's.

Okay I need to quit watching your videos at 2am. I'm hungry now. Thanks lol. Sid's is on my radar. I'm not sure how I feel about that much onion in my food, but I like the story behind Sid's so I'm going to give it a try. Have you been to the Big Texan yet in Amarillo, TX?
We live in Oklahoma City and have tried all three of the onion burger restaurants you visited. Our favorite is Tucker's. We were disappointed with both Sid's and Roberts. The wind is always blowing in central Oklahoma. It's unusual not to have wind blowing around 15 mph. You need to try Five Guy's Burgers. Oh, and the damned flies are everywhere
A little bit of wind... Yes in Oklahoma, that's a LITTLE bit of wind ;) Glad you guys have enjoyed my home state. Also I like my Onion Burgers with Cheese, Bacon, and ketchup it's all you need. I'll add Jalepenos when I feel like spicing it up a bit. There's a great tiny place in NW OKC called Bunny's that's one of my favorite onion burgers.
I think y’all would have a good time trying different Kansas City BBQ. Some local faves are KC Joes, Q39, and maybe a newer place like slaps, chef j, or Wolfepack. We have over 100 bbq spots to try and other great cuisine.
You guys are such a cute couple with amazing chemistry. Love your videos. Keep at it, I'm sure you'll hit 100k, then 500k at somepoint. Sometimes it just takes time and a bit of luck.
That a classic Oklahoma Smash Burger you got to start off right there. Contemporary twists add sliced fresh jalapeno. You can try it at home with a gas burner and a cast iron skillet.
There are two burgers attributed specifically to Oklahoma. Now that you have tried the Onion burger I would try the states second most popular burger, the Theta burger. I would suggest Johnnies (local chain with multiple OKC locations) and Classic 50's Drive in, in Norman, Oklahoma about half a mile from the University of Oklahoma.
@@thebritstry Theta burger was invented by a now defunct burger place in Norman, OK who sold them to Theta sorority girls. And became in institution at a place called "The Split T" in OKC which is also defunct. The place to get a Theta now that is an old institution (revived) is a place called "The Charcoal Oven".

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts! It's comments like these that make these videos so rewarding.
My home state! Love y'all. Honorary Okies from now on.
Thank you for the warm welcome! We had a great time in Oklahoma and it holds a special place in our hearts. we just wish we had more time there! we do have another video to come though.
My dad and I stopped there in 2018 as part of our four-week road trip across America, it was his absolute favourite burger he's ever eaten. We even got a photo with Marty (current owner Adam's dad).
That’s such a great memory! We would love to do a road trip like that in the future. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for coming to visit my home state! I’m so glad to see you enjoy your burgers! ❤ Please come visit again! 🎉
Thank you for the recommendation and for taking the time to watch!
Wow! You two are really covering U.S. food. Amazing job!
Thank you 😋 and thanks for watching!
It's amazing how something as simple adding caramelized onions can greatly improve the flavor of a basic burger.
Onions and ground beef are just made for each other.
Your so right! Thanks for watching
Thanks for the advice! we will have to give that a try in the future!!
Oooh shoot, you were in KC?! I’m ready for your BBQ reviews! I’m so excited to see where all you went!
😉Thank you so much for your excitement! Stay tuned for some delicious BBQ reviews from KC!😉
Thank you for sharing such a nostalgic story! It's amazing how food can hold such sentimental value. Thank you for the recommendations as well.
Soi delicious I've had them for years truck driver from Pensacola Florida
They are so good!! we would love to know if you have any more recommendations for us?
Insanely good review of the Oklahoma onion burger! Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for your kind words! your comment has made our day!
George Motz, the Burger Scholar, is famous for recreating the fried onion burgers & I've only seen him use onion, burger, and cheese on an Oklahoma fried onion burger. No pickles, no mustard.
Hope you had a great time in my home state! If and when you come back, I highly recommend Big Truck Tacos.
I’ve been wanting to try one of these ever since America’s Test Kitchen had an episode about them.
They are so good! we would definitely recommend them if you get a chance to try one in the future.
Great tour of America and all the great food. 👍🤗
Thank you so much for watching and enjoying the tour!
Enjoyed this one! Also learned onion burgers exist which I’m a bit shocked I never knew. I lived in Dallas Texas for many years and ended up in Oklahoma many times for work yet I never found out about these. Now I wish I had and tried one
I'm glad you enjoyed the video and learned something new! Thanks for watching
Absolutely, sometimes simplicity is key when it comes to letting the flavors shine.
My family has been in Oklahoma before it became a state, so I have been eating onion burgers all my life. The best generally come from a well seasoned griddle with someone who has been around a day or two 😉 If you come try one, welcome, we're glad to have you 😊
Thank you for sharing your family's connection to Oklahoma and those delicious onion burgers! We loved them!
Glad you are showing everybody what great food Oklahoma has. I wouldn't live anywhere else. And I have been to 14 different countries
Thank you for sharing that tip! It's always great to hear from fellow burger enthusiasts. Let's keep spreading the knowledge!
Tucker's is great but Syd's is where its at! Not an onion burger but it's one of the best around...check out Nic's Grill (original location at 1201 N. Pennsylvania in OKC). You won't be disappointed! Also Patty Wagon a few miles up the road is amazing too.
Thanks for the recommendations! we'll have to try Nic's Grill and Patty Wagon next time we are in the area. Thanks for watching
I just really like you guys so much you make everything so fun… I have never had an onion burger, not like that and it looked fantastic… Keep on going… Florida girl😊
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoy our content.
Philadelphia is waiting for you!
We can't wait to go!
@@thebritstry If you come to the Philadelphia area you have to try scrapple and of course cheese steaks . I would recommend visiting Lancaster PA while in the area and to checkout an all you can eat place called Shady Maple .
Nic's Grill has one the best onions burgers in oklahoma, imo. Great experience, fresh and amazing burgers. I highly recommend this place if u guys come through Oklahoma again.
Thanks for the tips! We would love to revisit in the future...
You should try Nic’s grill the next time. It is far better than the others in my humble opinion. But what do I know, I don’t have a you tube channel. Great show!
We appreciate your suggestion and kind words about the video, We will give Nics grill a try next time! thank you!
glad to see you are trying some real unique food in the U.S. I am 80 (not close to OK) and never had an "onion-burger", but it sounds great
They were delicious!! Thank you for taking the time to watch us.
Ahhh.... Y'all made me hungry lol! Those looked soooo gooood!!
Love and prayers from western NC❤❤🙏🙏
So good! Thank you for watching! 🤗
'Highlander' with food. - "There can only be one"!
Which one would you have chosen?
OMG YES, i commented before watching it all..YES You went to Roberts haha...Ed owns it hope he is their. Not much to look at but I can't wait to see which one you pick......so exciting my favorite I live over 30 miles from it I will go totally out my way to eat at Robert's.
Welcome to Oklahoma! I'm a big fan of Tucker's myself. Especially for being a fast/casual restaurant
Thanks for the warm welcome! Tucker's is definitely a must-visit spot in Oklahoma.
I've lived here in OKC for so long and still haven't tried tucker's.. Definitely goimg for lunch tomorrow..
I love how many unique restaurants we have here
Tuckers is so good!
You should! It was very good!😀
We agree!
Etc...
Thank you for sharing your nostalgic memories! It's amazing how certain places can bring back such vivid recollections of the past.
You know you’re not that far from Amarillo Texas where they have the 6 lb steak challenge
We are planning to revisit Texas in the near future!
This is so cute. I live here in El Reno. I saw y'all filming outside of Sids! They are pretty great there. You should've gotten a peanut butter shake to go with your burger, so good!
Wow! small world... We loved our time in El Reno and will definitely head back in the future and will give the PB shake a try. Thanks for watching
Hello from Enid, Oklahoma! Love your videos!
Hello Enid! Thank you for you kind words and thanks for taking the time to watch our videos
@@thebritstry how exciting! Cant wait to check those out!
I never knew this was a famous oklahoma burger, ive been making burgers like this since a kid when i was being taught how to cook, i LOVE sauteed/ caramelized onions and peppers on my burgers 😗🤌🏽
That's awesome that you've been making these burgers since you were a kid! Homemade burgers with sautéed onions and peppers are the best.
Sometimes I'll mix some Liptons onion soup dry mix into my hamburger meat and grill them outside, pretty good!
wow, thanks for the tips! Thanks for watching!
Thank You for more great content. That first bite of the last burger was obviously to hot but you went right back in and that says so much about how good it was.
Thank you for your kind words and for watching the video! Onion burgers are great!
You should try George Motz' version of the onion burger in New York! I think the restaurant he's opened it's called American Burger
Oklahoma has all sorts of different types of foods. You definitely won't go hungry here. There's something for everyone here. Sweet Potato fries are very good too if you ever get a chance to get them
We agree! Oklahoma has so many great food options we had an amazing time there. Thanks for watching!
None of them put the onion in the meat. You put the onions on the grill, place meat on top and smash it into it. This is why it’s not seared on one side. I make them at home often, I’m an Oklahoman.
Thanks for sharing your technique! It sounds like you've mastered the art of grilling onions and meat. Thanks for watching!
Nicola's voice is so sweet and classy.
Thank you for watching!
So you did try the famous Oklahoma fried onion burger ! nice.
You guys need to come back in May for El Reno onion burger festival. They make a huge burger bigger than Roberts Grill.
Wow! that sounds amazing!! we will have to look it up. Thanks for watching
there is always wind in Oklahoma
Thanks for watching
There's another Sids here in Minco...the El Reno location is best though. My neck of the woods. I grew up in Mustang. Went to vo~tech in El Reno, worked years there. Also was a Sids in Yukon, where I've lived mostly. Hope you two enjoyed Oklahoma ❤️
Thank you for sharing your experiences! we loved Oklahoma and would love to visit again to explore more, We have more videos to come soon
@@thebritstry i shamelessly admit the over four years I lived in Lahaina Maui (2015 to 2020) were far better than here...but this not a bad place to live and grow up, West OKC suburbs.
Amazing that you didn't agree this time but that's good, lol. They looked amazing.
Haha, sometimes a little disagreement makes things interesting!
@@thebritstry Facts! Especially when two people have been together as long as you have been :).
When you said you want your fries to taste like potato it reminded me of this customer that came in about a month ago and started screaming at me wanting there food for free and a refund because their fries tasted like “potato”. I had this dumbfounded confused look in my face because fries are potatoes lol.
It's amazing how some people can have such interesting complaints about the most obvious things! Thanks for watching
😂🤣 That's funny.
But I do suspect that maybe they were doing that just to have a free meal. I can't imagine someone genuinely wouldn't know that fries are potatoes.. But it is 2024, so.
That was Ed at Robert's Grill! Hey Ed!
We had a great time trying these onion burgers! Robert’s was really good 😊 thanks for watching
The last time I was in Oklahoma was 1998. I loved Roberts.
It's amazing how certain places can leave a lasting impression on us! Roberts was very good! Thanks for watching!
So glad y'all made it to El Reno! I grew up there and have to grab an onion burger any time I'm in the area. Johnnie's is my personal favorite but you can't really go wrong with Sid's or Robert's.
Thanks for watching ! Onion burgers in El Reno are like a rite of passage! It's was like a delicious initiation into the local food scene. next time we will have to give Johnnies a try.
Thanks for sharing your preference! And for watching
Thank you for sharing your love for Oklahoma and your favorite onion burger spot! Next time we will have to check out Bunnys
I think y’all would have a good time trying different Kansas City BBQ. Some local faves are KC Joes, Q39, and maybe a newer place like slaps, chef j, or Wolfepack. We have over 100 bbq spots to try and other great cuisine.
Thanks for the BBQ recommendations!! Watch this space😉😉
This has my mouth watering
us too! those burgers were amazing! which would have been your choice!
You guys are such a cute couple with amazing chemistry. Love your videos. Keep at it, I'm sure you'll hit 100k, then 500k at somepoint. Sometimes it just takes time and a bit of luck.
Thank you so much!!!!! It was amazing to wake up to such a wonderful comment! your comment means a lot and has definitely made our day! Thank you.
That a classic Oklahoma Smash Burger you got to start off right there. Contemporary twists add sliced fresh jalapeno. You can try it at home with a gas burner and a cast iron skillet.
Thanks for the feedback, Thats a good twist we should try in the future. Thanks for watching
YOU WERE IN MY TOWN! EL RENO! Roberts is my fav!
Yeah! we loved El Reno... Roberts was a great experience and great food. Thanks for watching
Appreciate the insider tips on where to find the best Theta burger in Oklahoma. Can't wait to try them out next time we visit!
I have never tried the third place, Guess I need to make a drive up there to try it.
Burger scholar George Motz liked Sid's onion burger so much, he made it part of his menu at Hamburger America.
Wow, that's awesome news about Sid's onion burger making it big at Hamburger America! Thanks for letting us know.
Need to go down the road to Meers Ok for the best burger ever!!!!!!
Thank you for the recommendation, we'll definitely check it out next time!
@@thebritstry Yep, Meers is just down the road from me. It's way off the beaten path but a cool place to see.
makes me hungry!!
I'm glad the video sparked your appetite!
