Robin Birdhouse (Nest Box) from woodwork scraps for my mother-in-law - eeek!

- My wife asked me to make a Gift for my mother-in-law and I had a few ideas... There was a bear trap, a guillotine, a broom stick storage rack...
Strangely my wife rejected all these ideas so I had to be a bit more thoughtful about the gift.
Eventually I decided to make her a Robin Nesting Box from scraps of wood I had lying around. It's an easy woodwork build with very little carpentry skilled required, and I've shared it here for you along with a little humour - with the emphasis there being on 'little.'

In case you're wondering, here's exactly how my Mother-In-Law responded, word for word. She's a good old stick really : )
"I LOVE IT THANK YOU SO MUCH,JUST WHAT I WANTED ,SO FROM YOUR OLD COW OF A MOTHER IN LAW,TO MY BUGGER OF A SON IN LAW ,,KISS KISS KISS THANK YOU"

Its a beautiful lil box, well done. A really fine set up with saws etc. Very jealous of that.
But i find it amazing that with all the care you took and finish, painting etc, that you did not cover the two screws in front.
If I recall correctly these are rust resistant screws and I always make sure I have removable covers for access. I admit, though, with the Robin boxes it's not as important as they're fairly open anyway 😁

I like this gift idea; the mantrap would´ve used a great deal of copper, after all, if you´d cast it in bronze.

It's dipped in a preservative / insecticide and that's the blue colour : )
