I also worked on a show with Noel Clarke and can attest that his reputation for bullish behaviour is well-known. However, it's crucial to acknowledge that he is not the only individual in the film & TV industry exhibiting toxic behaviour. Sadly, such behaviour is widespread within the industry. Throughout my career, I've seen numerous producers and directors engage in unacceptable conduct. For instance, on the same show, a producer brought a post supervisor to tears due to her abusive antics. This happens all too often and is never acceptable. While I'm not dismissing the specific allegations against Noel Clarke, it's important to recognise that this issue is part of a larger, systemic problem within the industry. The culture of the industry has, in many ways, permitted such behaviour. It does strike me as odd that Noel Clarke was singled out when the issue is so pervasive.

Worked in security for some 15 yrs now on the.v. and films. We are on set, watching equipment, do not leave the site for the 12 hr shifts we do. Generally we go unrecognised but we see, hear and know everything that goes on on a shoot, apart from decisions made at the top. Because we are not classed as a " department " we have everyone coming up to us with their complaints about the job because we are no threat to them. I.e. they won't get a reputation for moaning. This is why the security staff get to know everything, especially when the shoot turns toxic which happens quite often. While production staff sit in their nice warm caravan most of the other staff have to brave the weather and anyone who says production knows everything that goes on is simply wrong

I’ve worked with him on Bullet Proof - the guy is a bully. I was about 6 foot away from him when he was flipping out on his mobile phone because the chef asked him what he wanted for lunch. He was outraged because he’d already told someone what he wanted. That is no reason for him to talk like he did - perhaps the chef just wanted to make extra sure he got the order correct? Either way, it was ridiculous. I’ve never lost so much respect for someone in an instant. Honestly you hear about/imagine diva attitude with actors, but that was the only time I’ve ever actually seen it. 95% of the time people just turn up and do their job. Actors are only one piece of the puzzle on a set. There’s lighting department, camera department, sound department, makeup department, costume department, prop department, locations people, art department, extras, security all on set together all making the thing work … there’s no need for attitude or aggression, just like any other work place.
Also, the guy is fucking tiny. Which means he ended up just being the purest example of “small man syndrome”.
It’s such a shame because what he achieved with adulthood and kidulthood was so inspiring. For me personally as a creative.
He can talk about passion and wanting people to be on time etc and talk in a reasonable way like now. But sadly, the way he spoke about his lunch order was disgraceful - so no, just saying “I’m a driven person who just wants people to show up on time and bring their best game” doesn’t cut it or excuse his behaviour.

None of us on here know Noel or the truth. All I can say is I met him once at a Dr Who event and I queried why his fee for a photo and signature was only £20 when others were much higher and he replied that he didn't want to price out children from meeting him - and I later found out from an organiser that he donated all the monies he made that day anywhere. I spoke to him with my daughter for ten minutes and he seemed a nice guy.

Anyone can come in here and alledge they did projects with him. What projects? A lot of people don't want to work hard anymore they want things handed to them on a plate. If your a hard crafter and you expect excellence not everyone will like this and yes sometimes you may come across a certain way. Particularly if your a black man. Yes I had to out it here as its relevant so get over it. Where your whole being is scrutinised. I do wander why people waited until now as in when they came foward. Noel has been around for years. Bullet proof was on the screens for a While. But they waited until he was to receive a Bafta award and his TV show that he produced. Something is amiss here and I do feel People were envious of him I can imagine that then they go and dig out These instances that happened how many years ago? This could not have been handled internally? By having a word? No you just wanted to Wipe him off the screens so he would never be heard of again for the rest of his life? Is that fair? When he has not been found guilty of anything yet? No trail no investigation? Is that how we serve justice in this country now? What is happening with these allegations? What has become of them? They just dropped a bomb, and walked away? Are saying that's fair? Do not want to know the outcome? This could happen to any one if us. This is Cance Lloyd culture gone mad. And for those saying he walked away and was not asked to. I say to you what choice did he have when his TV production was taking away from him. Which O don't even understand how that's possible. So essentially his livelihood taken away. His TV show removed from the air waves Sky pulled out of working with him essentially all Media productions any company essentially doing work with him pulled put in what 24 hrs? And you wanted him to do what renain And do what exactly and with what? And all of thus by the way Where he has nit been charged, not spoken to by police no outcome of any investigation taken place. And we think that's right do we? You don't have to like the man but We should want Fair treatment of any human being? We are allowing our emotions about him get in the way of the Law of Justice. That is how I've looked at this. Until he has been found guilty of anything these are just allegations.

We live in a strange world today where anything can be taken as sexual harassment. If you tell a women, her dress, hair, or face is pretty, that's considered sexual harassment. I watched Noel Clarke last night in the 2016 movie, Brotherhood, Monday April 16, 2024. I enjoyed the movie but my inner spirit is telling me, these allegations are true about this young man. He would be better off to admit everything and tell the world he is making changes and plead for a second chance.
He does not come across a likeable person. It is a shame because he has so much to offer with his talent and it is going to waste. I hope he can realise the truth and become a better person, and that people can forgive his past actions.

    • @The_Studioworkshop
      @The_Studioworkshop ปีที่แล้ว

Why do you think he’s lying? Until court is all cleared up, or evidence is published, any law enforcement wouldn’t be able to establish guilt without, proof, statements, corroborating stories, and so on.
It is important to consider that anyone can accuse. We know what the media do.
I’ve been on both sides. I’ve been assaulted and subsequently accused. School manipulated a statement, sent info to the wrong police force. Social services did confirm I was assaulted but the abuser was still allowed to continue at the school.
The second instance, I wrote a statement, no police involvement, social services… the accuser, weeks later took back the allegation but the damage was already done. He then went onto homophobic bullying.
Both instances, no official response or action from the school. I was instead made to have a member of staff follow me around. The official reason was to “ensure other students are safe”… whatever that means…
I could explain in more detail but it’s really upsetting. I’ll never get over it fully.
What I am trying to portray to you is souley it is destroying when it is a lie - or when it is true and accusations do not go anywhere.

This interview has blown me away. Well done Rob Moore! Noel Clarke is obviously an intelligent, gifted and talented man. To hear that a journalist doesn’t need to verify his facts. All he or she needs to do is claim they believe in any gossip or rumour that they were told. I’m appalled! I am seventy and in my twenties/thirties/forties, it was expected that any journalist would have proof of any claims they made in their articles. It was called investigative journalism. The problem started in Thatcher’s time when right wing tabloids like Express and Mail were allowed a scam that meant they could sell newspapers in this country but by claiming their headquarters were in a Scandinavian country they were allowed to pay a paltry sum of £1 in taxes! This meant there was an inordinate large amount of monies for big money prizes in tabloids and any articles, where the so called ‘truth’ was fabricated about an individual and the tabloids were taken to court for defamation, plenty of monies were available for any fines. At first, large money fines were given to celebrities, as it seemed the best way to make the tabloids suffer by hitting them where it hurt the most, in their pockets. But then, judges started to say the monies given were too large and therefore, winning should be enough. So their money pit grew again. There should be a big fines for all journalists, who have maliciously and lazily, printed fabricated information that resulted in someone’s career, reputation and life being ruined. I believe Noel Clarke has been capable of being very generous but, unfortunately because he was so driven he didn’t make the close relationships in his career that would have given him more protection. How long was disgusting Jimmy Saville protected by his powerful and elitist friends? Decades! Noel Clarke has been very badly treated. Once again, we are being shown how people are prepared to believe any rubbish in the paper, either because of lazy ignorance or pure jealousy. Something needs to be done about these people, who farcically call themselves journalists. They are unscrupulous scandal mongers. My daughter is a journalist and I’m proud of her because the difference she has made and makes is due to her doing proper investigative work to bring down the people, who deserve to be shown up as the TRUE bullies and ruthless individuals they are! Not Noel Clarke, whose life was unfairly destroyed within 24 hours. In those 24 hours, I remember reading that he was asked to return his Oscar. No mention of Harvey Weinstein returning his accolades, which included his many Oscars! The shortness of Noel’s demise stinks of prejudice and being unjustly targeted. He was not questioned or spoken to directly. English tabloids have a habit of putting our heroes on pedestals and then, having great pleasure in knocking them down! I hope that Noel Clarke is suing not only the publications but, also, the particular journalist/s because if these journalists can hide behind their paper (who can afford the court fines!), than they’re not being made personally accountable too..

This is a psychological phenomenon. It is akin to group fainting, in a strange way. Sadly, this has been growing since #MeToo. At the start a few opportunists made high publicity claims trying to make ordinary behaviour seem dubious. Some wanted to raise their profile, others knew that men will settle in the US as a civil court case can be very expensive.
People who are bright and perfectionists tend to give succinct, but not harassing, instructions. This has been understood for years but we are seeing resentment, not wanting to do tasks, and envy of success creeping in. This has been leading to people recontextualising an perfectly acceptable experience into something sinister. Then embroidery starts and is continued from unfindable 'sources'.
The way the newspapers report these claims crosses a line. An assumption of guilt underpins pages of reports. When a Not Guilty verdict is returned it will typically be not very prominent and worse it may subtley undermine the verdict. For the sake of real victims of assault and people wrongly accused, reporting should be curtailed. Trial by Media is happening weekly.
So what makes people make a spurious, untrue allegations as part of a group. It is hunting pack behaviour really. Genuine victims are underpinned with very deep fear. Women and men who lie often do this maliciously, underpinned by resentment. They thoroughly mess up the system for victims. And they can ruin the lives of people falsely accused, mud sticks. We need to change the law regarding newspapers planting an assumption, a belief, of guilt way before the trial. Trial by Media must stop. Women are again being started to be seen as a liability to employ. Men are confused. And real cases go unprosecuted every single day, in favour of celebrity headlines. I am so sorry this happened to you. The reporting was woolly, suggestive and pernicious. It must stop.
I wish you well for the future. For any trolls, I have never met Mr Clarke. I speak as a victim of familial assault. You will notice that, like me, he is traumatised,- in other words he is a victim.

I think Noel is mostly telling the truth. One thing that was concerning was how almost boasted about being a loner. It has its perks, but it also makes you a sitting duck. If he had powerful allies, the media couldn’t have run him over like that.

He was allowed to tell you whatever he wanted without scrutiny and you never confronted him with any of the rumours that have been cited as the reasons for his cancellation.
