  • In this video I go over how to disassemble a PTO shaft, clean it, grease it and reassemble it. This shaft is off of my 2019 Frontier RC2060 Rotary Cutter. Other shafts are very similar in this process. Hope you enjoy. Thanks for watching. Remember to subscribe, click the notifications and smash that like button. Have a blessed day.

Great explanation & appreciate your time to cover the details. Pulled mine today & ran into some issues separating the shaft cover but this helps a great deal. Thanks.

Great instructional video. I will need to do this on my Land Pride cutter. Thanks for sharing

Never a bad idea to maintain the parts no one else thinks of.

Great video but I would think you would have taken the snap ring off and cleaned, inspected and greased the most important safety feature, the coupling locking feature. I had mine fail on me which is why I mention it.

I have that same coupler and it gets stuck on the PTO every time I use it I want to get a different coupler that won’t bankrupt me

Look at some of the PTO easy hook ups. I blew this cutter up doing commercial work. Now I have a Deere MX5. Yeah the cutter cost more than twice as much but so many better features including the PTO shaft.

How do you get the shaft off the cutter?

On mine I just had to pull the bolt that went through the shaft on the gear box. If you have dont that and its not sliding off, look in the u-joint that is closest to the gear box. The shaft may have a snap ring that prevents it from sliding off.

@@BBLandServices That is the question. Is there any way to get that snap ring off without disassembling the clutch? On mine it is deep inside the "clutch hub" and you can't even see it.

How did you get that shear bolt out with the guard on? After struggling with it I was finally able to get the bolt out. But, the slip clutch doesn’t want to budge off the gear box shaft. Any suggestions?

@PanioloBee mine just slipped off I think. I had greased it when I got it. Maybe tap with a hammer around it to free it. Maybe some PB blaster or something

@@BBLandServices Thank you. I came close to cutting that shield off but I held strong. My big problem was getting a wrench on the nut so it wouldn’t spin as I was ratcheting the bolt. I’m thinking if there is a way to modify the shield on the nut side to make it easier.
