    You will enjoy CLEEF. Regarding snow gear, remember that Mt San Jacinto is just before Idyllwild and can be treacherous. Sanjac Jon is a guy who goes up on the mountain almost daily during early hiking season. His channel is San Jacinto Trail Report. His channel will show what you will see before you get there. Nice video. Hope that screaming guy gets some help.

      Thank you! That is some great information. We will definitely watch his channel closely starting March 1st. We will set up our snow gear, packaged to be shipped ASAP if we request it early.

      Early start is good. There is water on sections, A B and C. Goes dry quick, so then 6-8 liter water carries needed. Get thru San Jacinto early. Hard solid pack snow better than re-melting ice sheets. Sierra same.. If storms come just hangout in Idyllwild for a few. Good luck you'all. Watching 2025 pct hikers is my superbowl. 2652 miles from mexico to canada. Last great american adventure.

      Truckee is worth visiting. Best candy store on trail!!! Super easy hitch from the ski lodge. Acton town near KOA has a great organic grocery store. Buy there as there is literally nothing in Agua Dulce. Like you guys, I try to eat super healthy as much as possible prior to hitting the PCT. This makes such a big difference.

    Good luck. If you know how to travel and camp on snow, going through the Sierra before the big melt is probably safer than after it all starts melting.
    P.S. Plan on nothing going according to plan.

      Interesting. That's the first time we've heard that. We're definitely expecting our plans to be ruined, but we'll research the snow-camping more. One of us has trained to camp in snow. Thanks for the information!

    My start date is March 11th so we may see each other from time to time. I'm planning on taking my time before KMS if the snowpack in the Sierra looks bad. If not, I'll have my hiking legs at least somewhat so I'll be able to open the throttle and turn over kilometers.

    As for Bridge Fire, the PCT was initially closed for about 20 miles. The latest closure order is 12 miles. Hopefully there will be more revisions to the closure order to come. Keep our fingers crossed.

    • @JennickHikes
      @JennickHikes  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fingers and toes crossed. If it's still closed we're going to have to make a long reroute. We really don't want any breaks in our continuous foot path.

  • @MalFunktion1

    Oh BTW, did you plan for bear canisters between KMS and Donner?

    • @JennickHikes
      @JennickHikes  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We're not exactly sure where those places are at the moment, but we are planning on hiking with our bear canisters from the beginning up until the last point we need them. If that's just a little bit beyond the Sierra, we'll keep them until then.

    As a Oregonian enjoy our state, it is beautiful. Definitely hit crater lake, ramona falls and tunnel falls detours. They are beautiful and basically PCT at this point.

    • @JennickHikes
      @JennickHikes  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the recommendations! We were planning on moving there, but maybe someday much later. We were going to hike every inch of the PCT, but my wife convinced me that we should hit all the great detours instead. Continuous foot path is our goal so we can hit all the good spots.
