    I didn’t think I would be commenting on this, but just by teaching this tutorial and thinking in detail about the technique...I went from 39” to 43” over a bar in one session! 😳

    My sidehops only started getting better when I started to ride with only a front brake, all of a sudden they took off (literally!) but ive never really aimed at height (because i want to work on fundamentals more) but im managing to side hop sideways by a fair bit which is quite fun to do!
    Great video as always!

      Thanks! The height comes easier when you’ve got the fundamentals locked in - great call for sure! 👊

    Yes man! Been wanting to learn this for so long. Awesome. Never thought about pedal kicking, and always wondered why I could only do some awkward mini hops. Will definitely practice in the weekend and improve from the 20 cm /8 " I can do now.

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right on! Once you get the timing for the pedal kick down with the rest of the movement, the whole thing unlocks. Can’t wait to hear how it goes!! Thanks again for the suggestion on this tutorial! 👊

    Just came across your channel, and I LOVE IT!!!! You're a great teacher!! I'm not a trials rider, Im a mountain biker, but I can't wait to try to apply some of your lessons to Mountain biking. Please keep the videos coming, and keep up the good work!

    Super great video!! Thankyou so much for this detailed explanation! I have struggled a lot with the sidehop, now have a bunch of things to improve on. My personal record is 50cm.

    Very good video. I have huge problems with this side hop. Until now I have tried it with brute (muscle) force, but without much success, and almost destroy my body. You make it look so easy. Next time trial training I will definitely look at this Viedo first. My record is four pallets (about 60cm).

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! A lot of people have reported the same issue with their technique - you will be surprised how much of a difference the pedal kick makes for your sidehop. You might need some extra pallets! :)

    This move is hard! Went from 0 to about 20 cm in the past weeks. Good point on the rear tyre pressure btw. Just tried deflating from 60 psi to 35 psi and man does it make the bike bouncy! Always thought high pressure would be best as I always "feel" the rim when landing on edges.

    I think I learned this technique wrong.
    My strong foot is my left foot, also the side I side hop. It feels natural to me, but I’m afraid I’m loosing the advantage of the proper technique. I can side hop about 18" on a 24" street trials. Do you think or would you advise me to try to unlearn what I know and start fresh and learn the proper position? Thank you for all you do. Your time and effort making these AWESOME tutorials available to all of us is very appreciated.

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Keep going with that side, the most important part is really your brake and pedal control - once you've got it dialed in, you'll be able to easily switch sides and you'll have a moment when you can do high sidehops both ways!

    Hello there!
    Today I practiced pedal kicks on my 29er Hardtail and was able to get some progress, better than I had expected. However, I ride left foot forward, but I power with my right foot forward for wheelies and pedal kicks. Rear wheel hops done from a trackstand or endo are with my left foot in front. I just cant figure how to work this inconsistency out.. I play hockey lefty but golf and baseball righty. Weird

    Im trying to fig out how to proper trials side hop with crank. As come from bmx.
    I cant hope to my rear foot even 1ft, however to front foot 3ft is ez.
    I do 2 wheels side hop towards my front padel & no crank. I'll track stand and release my brake at the time I unload. Thanks for the vid man

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That crank will make all the difference, and sometimes I think about “winding up” the sidehop when I prepare the pedal kick and crouch together. The bike leans slightly away as you wind up, and then you snap everything at once. If you’re getting 3 feet to front pedal, this should come together pretty quick once you get comfortable going in this direction. Have fun!

    So after a few tries I found it's pretty impssible to me to do it right away. So I decided to learn the front version before. I thought it's like pedal up but with jump. But it makes no use - I end up standing at back wheel. Would be glad to get some advices.

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      How are your pedal kicks and gaps coming along? Having that technique totally mastered will help bring the sidehop within reach. Also - are you in the Discord channel? It'll be a bit easier to talk you through the technique with our crew over there..

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes I put my front wheel into the obstacle and balance with it while I get everything else in place (cranks, body position, etc). Then I quickly straighten the front wheel and go for it! Maybe that will help?

    • @maxpainxl125
      @maxpainxl125 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SuperRiderTV i will definitely try that. I really suck at the first or initial hopping, but once I started a hop, sidehops becomes a bit easy.

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once you unlock that pedal kick timing and motion with the sidehop, the whole thing opens up. Guaranteed!

    "if you think in metric, just calculate it for yourself" basically :)))

    • @SuperRiderTV
      @SuperRiderTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would now recommend that you measure against the bike instead of with a ruler - since you wouldn’t ride with a ruler in your pocket. It makes it easiest to size up obstacles and give yourself confidence: for example, anything under my handlebars is fair game. Anything over requires concentration!
