When I see video of whole homes on the coast falling into the ocean during huge storms it makes me think of all the wonderful and often sentimental items just waiting to be found once the weather settles.

The item at 13:24 is a revolver bullet/projectile probably .38 cal. called a wad cutter. it cuts a neat clean edged hole in the target to make scoring easier.

13:20 that's a semi wadcutter. It's a bullet and they do cut a nice hole through a paper target. That one appears to be a .38 caliber.

Lmao no you don’t saw through the paper. It’s a special type of target practice bullet that punches Symmetrical holes in the paper making scoring easy. Regular bullets tend to rip the paper and can make scoring harder.

Metal detecting is hard work! How do you manage your energy levels for long hours? I finally got a chance to walk in the shoes of a detectorist and i'm completely drained today after walking around twin lakes yesterday. I came across a guy using an equinox 800 on park mode and 4kHz, he said it finds gold pretty good on beaches? I'm not entirely convinced due to the saltiness of the sand, but it's worth a test next time i'm down there.
It sure is! My secret weapon is ingesting way too much caffeine. That way if I stop moving I’ll explode, kind of like the movie Speed. 🤣🤣 But it really does take it out of you. I’m usually totally whooped after those 5-6 hour days. But I do spend my entire works days on my feet, averaging about 40,000 steps (17ish miles) per day, so I’m used to it. Yikes 4kHz on Park mode! I would imagine that would be chattering like crazy
@@MontereyMagnetMan I see! So it's just about working up your endurance, and with the help of some caffeine! After being at the beach yesterday for 7 hours chugging a monster energy zero ultra really hit the spot, along with a redwood sandwich shop sandwich.
Yeah they guy said that it's about listening for tones and that usually the stuff in the higher 30's is going to be junk. Said he got lucky with a gold ring at scott creek beach and on those settings!

I just checked, it's in the video description!
I put them in the video description on each video. But I mostly run:
Beach mode
Multi wet (even on dry sand)
Sensitivity around 25
All metal mode
Recovery speed around 4 or 5, sometimes lower
Iron filter 2 or 3
Stability between 1 to 3 (unless it’s very mineralized sand)

I just arrived in Monterey for a few days of detecting w/my Nox 600 - Asilomar to Marina. I hope to find BIG GOLD too! It'll still be great to be outside even if I don't.
I hope you get some good finds out there! I bet Carmel River beach would probably have some good stuff. Also the small beaches in between Asilomar and Lovers point. Happy hunting 🤙🤙🤙
@@MontereyMagnetMan - 9am: Lovers' Pt thru Asilomar, all the viewpoints & much of the walking trail were chained off - closed! Got in thru a gap & found recent drop pocket change. Then tried Sand City / Marina. Lots of trash, weird EMI near big building, someone's fresh unfilled holes + gridlines & a coin spill. Tnx! Maybe Carmel River beach tomorrow.

the beta version of 1.10 has bottle cap suppression as well, what version is your machine at? I heard that bottle cap suppression at 1-2 works well, but i have yet to test it out.
I was looking at that, should come in handy. I’m still on 1.09 for now. I’m going to wait until the final version is released before I install it.

50 year surf hitting Cali this year! I watched the Eddie at Waimea Bay yesterday 30-50 ft faces! Been 7 years since they held the contest as they have to have all the right conditions for it. I surfed Waimea a few times in the early eighties when I lived there in 83' to 86', when it was much smaller of course! All I did there BITD was fish, surf and smoke 420! lol! Caught a 460lb marlin there. I lived my dream retirement years long ago because it isn't that great as those days now that I am almost finally there. lol! Enjoy each and every day!.....Great hunt MMM! 🤙

That was a waddcuter bullet, made for target practice, it just cuts a plain hole so you don't destroy your target and can see your hits

4:08 , 5:12 What makes that pattern in the sand?
That’s from the water running back to the ocean. The sand there is much more coarse and loose so it gets stripped away easier. That pattern is generally what I look for on a beach because it usually means you’re close to the bottom layer of sand.

Not sure why quarter hoarder does the banana thing but, I did do some fishing guiding in Canada and it was common practice that bananas on boats are bad luck and to never take them on board.
I heard a few stories about this and the one I like is that Long ago when a cheif and his tribe where sailing to a different island and it was a long trip so they decided to take bananas for food as it was the easiest to take but, during the voyage a banana spider bit the cheif and he died before making it to the next island. Ever after it has been bad luck to travel by boat with bananas.

Yes, and bananas are bad luck on fishing boats also, one year out of SF, a crab boat skipper was gifted a bunch of bananas and he threw them overboard! The next day his boat crashed on the rocks as they returned up to the north

Hahaha I don’t know! I gotta give credit to the storms I think. I’m sure that bracelet was a fresh drop. Someone probably got smacked by a wave and it flew off.
@@MontereyMagnetMan I was thinking the same thing. The storms have been brutal on us, haven't they? Especially out along the coast, in your neck of the woods. It was a great not having it rain on me at the Niners game, for once .
The waves from the storms changed the topography of the pacific coast beaches and, therefore, the waves will come up higher on the beaches. Be safe out there. Never turn your back on these waves for now until it's established what "normal" tide height is from here on out.
