Would you ever consider doing a Deck Doctor style of video? The idea is that you take a user submitted deck, usually built around a theme, and try to make it more competitive while sticking to the spirit of the deck. (This is not an original idea. Firebat, a Hearthstone player, was the first, to my knowledge, to do a video of this style)
A story: I made a jank free to play standard deck where I would use the red steal spells and the black sacrifice to sacrifice their stuff. In my first game I went up against a proper jeskai hinata deck, with expressive iterations, all the lands, etc. This was on the play queue. I expected to lose. I won somehow. Maybe there is something to this concept worth checking out. The ogre demon was a good part of it. Admittedly I should have lost at the end when they galvaniced 2 fading hopes to remove my blockers, but accidentally used their giant hall instead of their treasures, but I still think it's worth looking into. Also, you have mentioned that you don't think fading hope is good in that deck, but it was definitely a proper deck but I think ran the fading hope as a 1 or 2 of, as this was the only one I saw and they'd gone through at least half their deck with iterations and windfalls.
Long ago, I had a control deck running the silencer. I played it turn 4 or 5 and named village rights because opponent had already used one. Many turns later we are at a huge board stall with something like 6 creatures on each side. I had them to 2 life with me at 7 or 8. Opponent drops an archfiend's vessel and snaps off village rights to get the reanimation going. It must have been 10 min later so I think they forgot. Silencer insta kill. I laughed so hard imagining what it must have seemed like on that other side.
The man's in top 200 playing Silverquill Silencer against Tezzeret+Greasefang with an off-color Chariot and Dollhouse+Ao combo. Standard is definitely way more interesting now than it was during the two Innistrad sets.
What a cool deck. I didnt like bw in the past that much, but this one I have to try. Some Silverquill love. Oh and please do more asmr videos haha. So good to watch before going to bed.
Its actually serendipitous that you made this video because i was just looking at silverquill and wanting to build around it recently since i already own a full set. Its truly an underrated card, tbh. I get its hangups for sure but it really rewards high level play.
Man, that silencer naming verse on the opponents top deck was clutch. Only the one in best of one can accurately know which cards the opponents are drawing
Interesting deck. Surprised no Paulo. Also Just when I thought the sound issues were gone.. They return in a BIG way at 38:44 There was another spot earlier then that.. but the one mentioned was a big and LONG gurgling of the sounds.
Hey CGB, will you ever get back into Brawl? I know you work on Commander videos from time to time but I really liked your in depth descriptions of brawl tactics with interesting styles.
I made a version of this deck before kimigawa with 4 of professor of symbology and one red basic. And a few tibult the cosmic imposter. Silverquill Silencer always felt good being able to pick out the meta's.
I had noticed Silverquill Silencer getting some play recently. I had an Esper Silencer deck before rotation... great fun. As someone who plays obscure, off-meta reactive control decks, it's amusing to see which spells my opponent tries to silence. I was recently playing a mono Blue deck... after 4 islands and no spells, my opponent 'silences' Cinderclasm... I just had to be playing Izzet despite no evidence of Red 4 turns in!
This autoplayed in the background and I wasn't really paying attention, but it totally sounded like a chill af old school CGB video from before the streak, the one in best of one, and the cool kids' club.
I really enjoy all your videos. I mostly watch on week days. It would be nice if you had an Off Standard day of the week whether this is Draft or Alchemy or Historic or Brawl or what not. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on those play styles.
@CovertGoBlue just met you on ladder, was really painful to start with 3 lands in hand and get none for 7 consucutive turns when you have 24 in deck :-) anyway gg i saw you were running some combo izzet but with invoke calamity wich looks interesting but i sadly couldnt play to see how it would go. wp
I know Spellbinder is a bit awkward on the curve, but it just seems such a freeroll to throw onto the battlefield and peek at the opponents hand with Tempo and a lot of pressure which the Silencers like and it holds counters well. Maybe instead of some of the Restorations or targeted discard spells?
I can always tell when a new CGB build video drops because its literally all I see people using that day when I hop on 6 games yesterday, 4 of them were this build

Hey CGB, I'm wondering if you can come up with a good decklist to utilize Moonsnare Prototype. The card definitely got a lot of talk during spoiler season, but I have yet to see anyone actually play it. Edit: Looking through your videos again I saw that you did make an Azorious list with it a month ago, but surely there is some other shell to use the card in given how dangerous cheap ramp tends to be.

After being reminded of Borrowed Time, I have determined that Intercessor's Arrest is not the choice of white removal. The only advantage it has over Borrowed Time is that you can put Intercessor's Arrest on a Bugbear's Den, Hall of Giants, and other similar land/creatures.
Duress should probably be Dread Fugue, otherwise cool deck. I run a mono black hand hate/fliers list which does a lot of work at fnm, not sure its meta for arena though.
I don't know about anyone else but soft-spoken CGB is way more menacing than normal CGB. Sounds like a father about to give a stern punishment to his opponent with that tone.
CGB, heres a cool idea. Remove 1 wedding announcement and 1 vanishing verse for 2 teleportation circles. You can keep resummoning the silverquil silencer which results in potentially naming their entire hand. Its evil 🙃

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by strategy, but Crokeyz did a mono black deck recently that might have a decent match up against this deck. It might be worth looking into.
I miss the days like in onslaught when you could play a deck of commons and still had a fair chance of winning. Now if your entire deck isn't mythic or rare, you're done.
I really feel like Elite Spellbinder is better than Eiganjo here. Eiganjo is kind of slow. The ramp isnt that great and the 3/4 doesnt come online until real late. Being able to just further disrupt the opposing hand is such a sick strategy imo.
Any other CGB fans notice Midweek Magic Shakeup is just more people playing the same 6 white life gain cards? They thought banning Asspirant would stop it? So much for the "Shakeup". Yawn.

i think that is mostly the case in mythic... especially around gold/platin the only thing you see is the same 3 decks all day
