This really helped me. I've been looking at other Osprey backpacks, the Nebula, the Apogee, etc but I've finally decided to get the Tropos.

This review helped me very much when shortlisting backpacks for weekend hiking. I'm pretty sure that there is no such thing as a "perfect bag"! One model is better in one thing than another and another model is better in another thing than the other. So far, I find it hard to come across a middle-of-the-road sized model that ticks all my boxes.

Excellent comparison, perfect video, as a prepper I preferred the tropos as get home bag for the reasons you mentioned, excellent backrest, comfort with greater load and if you care about fashion also excellent as an edc even if large. For me the backpack must be congenial to what I carry with me and not for how people see me whether fashion or not;) excellent videos as always thank you very much Desy

Both are great bags, Depend on what you are mostly doing either one will be better. If you are urban commuting in busy cities and just need a daily carry or work.gym bag, the Apogee is better in this regard. If you are looking to travel or if you are often away for a 2 to 3 days trip then the tropos wins due to the capacity and comfort.

The only thing i don't like about the Tropos is that it takes a lot of space, i have the Apogee and i can barely get away with putting it under front seat on a plane. If you will be in situations where that could happen or stuff like having to put your backpack on your lap (like sharing a taxi with a lot of people), then I'll stay away from the Tropos.
I feel it is for more controlled environments where space and comfort will never be an issue.

Pack smartly and efficiently. Unless you have some specialized equipment, you shouldn't need a very big bag for only 2-3 days.

@@alepolait8951 Yes, after a bunch of research, I got the Apogee late last year to use as my carry-on to travel to Colombia. I was able to pack a good amount of stuff, for my needs at least, and it never felt too heavy or uncomfortable. Plus, I think it looks good too. So for me, just right. I only used it the one time though so my experience is based on that. I had previously bought a big 40L Patagonia bag and returned it. Insanely heavy when packed out and the backpack straps are kind of thin so I didn't trust it as far as durability is concerned.

@@BlueToronto The Apogee looks slim and close to body even if you are packing it full. Good for busy commuting.

The Osprey Tropos is pretty similar to the Patagonia Refugio Backpack, but I like a backpack with daisy chain and strap on the side, so I can manually convert the backpack into an adventure backpack.
North Face Recon is a great example. I can manually add a bungee core in the front while still able to hope a smaller item like a selfie, trekking pole, on the aide. I can also hold the bigger water bottle safer because it come with a strap on the side.

Hi Desy, do you know if there will be a new tropos coming soon? the current one seems to be out of stock everywhere

I actually emailed Osprey support and was told they’ll be in stock on July. Since it takes this long, I’m expecting an update to the backpack but let’s see!

ok, I use Apogee for almost a year and I can`t recommend it to anyone. side pockets are not useful, it is small, and zip collar is a big fail

How are they not useful? If you don't want to put in a water bottle, use them for other stuff. I used this bag for international travel and put my umbrella in one pocket and some extra socks in the other. It was perfect!
