  • Sit back and grab a cup of coffee because it's time for another 5 Minute Photo Adventure! In this episode I head to Stowe's Hill on the edge of Bodmin Moor near Minions in Cornwall for a spot of landscape photography. With some of the most unique rock formations and tors I've ever seen, I wonder why I've never been there before.

Glad you stood on the rocks - showed how big they were! Great photos and thank you for sharing

Thanks Lee...always good to show a bit of scale because its hard to appreciate how big some of these rock structures are. :-)

I cannot believe you have not been there before. It definitely looks like a place you should photograph. I expect you will go again for better light. And stay away from the cliff. Unless you are looking up. Thanks for sharing.

Nice video Julian. I visited Bodmin once and really enjoyed wandering around there. The rock formations don't look very big from a distance but as you climb up to them they are quite big! Now that you are aware of the location you must return another time with better conditions. Cheers, Jeff

Cornish American here. When I was visiting my cousins, we went to Bodmin Moor. We didn't stay long -- I think I remember one cousin saying that the moor was haunted and that being there frightened her.

    Hi Julian,
What a great location and fantastic rock formations.
I have got the Photographer's guide to Cornwall too as you know and guess what i haven't been to any locations yet and like you i forgot all about it.
I think it's time to get using it and going to some of the locations.
    Great images as usual mate.

Great location Julian and I really enjoyed watching. I was fascinated with the actual scale when you stood next to one of the stacks. Prior to the context of a person, the piles only looked several feet high and even with the final images!

    • @jbairdexp
      @jbairdexp  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks David. Even when you are there it's hard to understand the scale....it's not until you stand under one that you realise how big they are! Thanks for watching. :-)

I am hoping to go down to the Lizard later on in the year when the visitors have gone home, maybe I drop in on the way back. You made me feel so much better as I am not the only one who gets flat light. Great video. Thank you.

Julian hi another really enjoyable video. I came across Bodmin moor last year after years of holidays in Cornwall. It is a stunning place we went to hurlers stone circle and then carried on to a Rocky outcrop which was awesome you’ll love it 360 degrees view and some lovely rock features like you had. You can park in the village of minions yes that’s right minions 😀 unfortunately didn’t have my camera would have loved to have vlogged it doesn’t seem to be many videos from Bodmin. Anyway great video and some lovely photos to. Take care Trev

Cheers Trevor....I asked a local how to pronunce Minions....just in case it wasn't the way it looked! lol You are right, not many videos from Bodmin. An untapped market?!

Those rock formations really are interesting! I didn't realise how big they were at first! Shame about the flat light but I think the images you captured are great. Really like that first image at 4:34.

Hi Jules: Another great video. Between you and Thomas Heaton, Ellen Bowness is getting lots of visibility for her books. I am trying to find these books via a Canadian distributor. It is always nice to find a new location to explore that has the potential for some great images. Cheers, Keith

True enough. We have a contact name at the actual distributor in the UK so I will likely reach out to them directly. My wife likes having the books well in advance for planning purposes. Cheers, Keith
