    A really nice video. Thanks for sharing your insights, thoughts and experience with that tyre. 1 Minute on an all-in 1-hour ride is a lot between the top 5 tyres regarding rolling resistance. Based on your experience, I may choose the 5000 TL just because of the puncture tread, maybe even considering buying another pair of rims with Vittoria on them.

      GP 5000 TL is a better general purpose tire, no doubt.

    Thinking of these for my triathlon bike, except Waco has a ton of chipped seal roads and I’m worried about that with these…

      They are fast and comfy. You feel the difference versus a GP5000TL immediately. BUT! They wear quickly, and have minimal puncture protection. I love the tire, but I've stopped riding them because it just got to be too much effort constantly patching them :). If I was going to do a short TT on a well maintained section of road, I would totally use them. Long TT on chip seal, I'd probably opt for something else.

    Not sealed.. guess thats where the weight savings comes from .
    And thank you! I had these cued up on amazon and decide to see what TH-cam had to say and you video saved me from buying these. I love that theyre that fast, but i dont race and these would be my every day tire, i need puncture resistance to be bette than that. Also grip…i ride over dirty roads a lot and not having SOME grip over sand is a no go.

      Definitely not the tire for those conditions! Glad you enjoyed the video.

    that's close to 0,8km/h increase. That's roughly 10-15w increase... that's 3-6 months of structured training for somewhat trained amateur .. I am ordering those Vitorria's now!

      they are superfast but puncture so easily. i had mine only for 500 k then had punctures back abd front that didn’t seal. in the bin they are now

    You measured both tires at 80 psi but what psi did you settle on for each width for actual riding and what is your weight? I have used the 23’s with latex tubes and lately TPU tubes. But I always thought that a tire as narrow as 23 mm would be too small to go tubeless. But now you’ve got me thinking…

      ~83, which is technically an unsupported pressure (min is 87). It was totally fine. I'm ~70kg (~154lb). The next time I do this, I'm going to add Vittoria's tire inserts to the mix for a little extra insurance since these aren't very puncture resistant. I wish there were more 23C TL/TLR options, disappointing that there aren't.

      Thank you for the quick response and also for the overall thoroughness of your data. Much appreciated.

    What is the internal width of this wheel?

      The Reynolds are 19cm, and the Farsports are 21cm.

    would painting the sealant on with a brush before installing help? than adding more sealant later.

      It might if you were trying to mount with a floor pump.

    great video showing the bad points of the tyres, for sure we all know it is the fastest tyre out there based on bicycle rolling resistance. guess its just not that great for daily / training use given so often it is able to puncture

    Would you recommend the tyre for a 112miles ride in Ironman?

    • @Mamilian
      @Mamilian  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. GP 5000 TL is slightly slower, but light years more puncture resistant. I swapped these off and put on the GP 5000 TL before doing RAW last year, for exactly this reason.

    When you say you have punctured, did the tubeless setup not seal it?

    • @Mamilian

      Nope: th-cam.com/video/FsdemRpUCHc/w-d-xo.html

    Really, did you just say it's not sealing when there is no sealant in it?, Lol...ughhh

    • @Mamilian
      @Mamilian  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your insightful comment. As I'm sure you know, perhaps even from watching more of the video, TLR tires general need sealant to seal. Where TL tires don't always. Obviously, you still want to add sealant, but it's an interesting thing to note because it's not as well known as one might expect.
