Thoroughly enjoyed this video Stew.. Amazed at all the watering Wells with free drinking water... They sure look after their citizens. Everybodies so friendly but then you get back what you give out and I've never seen you be anything than happy, grateful and friendly Stew 😏🤗🙏💜
Those water wells/fountains or free drinking water all over the city (whole Bosnia really) has something to do with the religion of Islam. People were, and still are building them (whoever has the finances to do so) to gain something called sevap (sevap is opposite of sin). Basically you try to do a good deed to gain merit from God in this life and hereafter/afterlife. As long as people are drinking from it, even as deceased... perhaps hundreds of years so, you gain sevap (merit) for when the day of judgement comes. Then you will "cash in" all those deeds. Drinking fountain/well is like permanent merit, that's why they are desirable to built. Sevap can be gained from all kinds of things... feeding birds (animal) or helping an old lady across the street to building a mosque or donating charity. Not so different from any Christian teaching, except in Islam, I believe it's little better explained and constructed... hence the drinking wells concept. (Please excuse my ignorance if I'm mistaken. It's not my intention to compare or to compete Islam vs Christianity... my subjective feeling and knowledge that I have so far, makes me believe that Islam explains and stresses the importance of "merit concept/construct". Even my explaining of those drinking wells gains me sevap 😁). Cheers Jane and Stew 🙋🏼♂
@@kolobara08 oh wow thank you kolobara08 for that explanation, it's really appreciated and I love the concept of it 💜No need to apologise for helping others to comprehend another countries belief system in regards to the drinking wells/water, I found it fascinating so thank you once again 🙏namaste my friend 🙌🤗
I came for the pyramids and stayed around to watch more videos. Absolutely beautiful country. Not what I would have expected of a formerly war-torn region. The architecture is lovely and the food looks amazing. And the countryside and forests and pristine and untouched. Perfection!
What a joy it is to watch your videos. The way you communicate and appreciate people, your smile and vibe is so nice to see! Enjoy Visoko! Looking forward to videos from the pyramids. Enjoy it! ❤️

I'm from Visoko and not many people know, but, Visoko was also the capital of medieval Bosnia where lots of remains have been found. Sadly, not much attention is paid to it and therefore tourists don't know about it. Oh, btw, that place near the bus station is the best place you can eat in Sarajevo, you should try ćevapi, it's basically a national dish. And I hope you find yourself some Bosnian coffee lol.
Interesting, I've walked past that place near the bus station a few times when I was last in Sarajevo but never considered it as a place to eat. Next time we visit I will try it!
Just got back from Visoko last week. I was on a road trip with my wife on a way back from Croatia. Pyramids are definitely place to visit and all complex around it . Have a great time and also visit Tesanj ;)

Also my man, a very useful tip if you want to find people speaking english is to speak to the youth. The youth are extremally smart and have picked up on English, the older generations are not familiar with it as much.
I start to Like 👍 all your videos specially those in Bosnia and I must say THANK YOU for such good videos the are amazing. Also i Like your British , everything is amazing.
Glad I found Bob Ross's travel Channel guess he just gave up painting. All jokes aside, this is excellent content, and you will go far. Many of the more prominent travel bloggers are extremely negative, especially with the war going on. This is a fresh breath of air much appreciated, Stew. A little bit of positivity can go a long way in the world.
Gaining directions plus finding food in another language, dealing with broken bag straps, reaching the right bus on time...all with courage and a friendly smile. Wonder what that big smokestack or brick tower was for at 7:36?
There used to be a factory there but it was torn down a few years back. Visoko used to be one of the leading "factory" cities before the war so that is just a fragment of our history.

It may or may not be real tbh but one interesting fact about it is that many of our cancer patients go often and spend time in the Ravne tunnels as they have extremely high concentration of negative ions. It helps them enormously with going though chemo and all that as these are values that lead to a very beneficial effect on human health. Healthy people go as well, not to get me wrong hahah. In recent time, the tennis player Novak Đoković is a regular guest to these tunnels, he came there three days after his win at the Wimbledon :) Enjoy your stay in BiH and feel free to ask for tips and recommendations if you need any :))
This is only place in Sunni Muslim part of Bosnia where are Bosnian Serbs , Croats, Jews, Roma people and people from Europe safe, These pyramids spread such positive energy that they change even dangerous local sunni Muslim into normal people!
