Lydia Greyrose is actually from a world called Karamelle in the Candied Isles, as was revealed in Ravenwood Roll Call. She was the first professor recruited to teach at Ravenwood, after saving Merle Ambrose from the Brothers Bonbon. She is not from Gobblerton, although I believe Gobblerton might be located on one of the other Candied Isles.

I also choose to believe that Prof. Greyrose was not originally from Karamelle, just living there at the time. It would make much more sense if Greyrose was originally from, or raised in Weirwood, in Avalon, considering her affiliations with the Council of Light

Also about Merle... In Khrysalis when you get shadow pips he says: (translated from the german version) You touched the shadow. Even though I would never teach shadow magic at Ravenwood, even though I could, I think you can handle it. This means he also has shadow magic

what? storm is one of the best schools, with a high damage output. you can up your accuracy with gear, and constantly heal with a death or life mastery. pretty good in my opinion.

Omg yes. Like everything with Duncan Grimwater and the witch lady (forget her name) from Firecat Alley. This game was made years ago but they made everything fit together so perfectly. I adore W101 to bits!

Ah Gretta. Yes, that's her name. And yeah, I totally agree. It's very smart of them, and they aren't just like "oh, yep, beat this world, K BAI never looking at you again!" You revisit completed worlds for future quests, and revist older characters. Not many games have as much planning as Wizard101 does.

They made Merle Ambrose from the world of "Avalon" (+knights), only because he is very obviously based on Merlin Ambrosius, the powerful wizard from the well-known legend of Arthur and the knights of the round table. This wizard was born when a powerful spirit / demon impregnanted his mother, which gave him the inborn ability of unspoken magic. He was known for being the foundation for the formation of all schools of magic and for his ability to influence both time and space as well as life and death. So it would be very difficult to say that Merle had a school at all, since the wizard he's based of's abilities essentially encompass all schools and in theory, he is truly the creator because he was the first of his kind (and the one who formed the rules of teaching / learning magic through self-practice). With the existence of mastery amulets available (as well as the ability to use spells from other schools), it seems most likely that while each wizard has a dominant, or strong, preference towards one area of magic more than others.. they do have the capability and ability to be strong in any / all schools of magic just like Merle. A theory to this could be that during his time learning magic, Merle noticed that young wizards are born with an innate talent for a certain area of magic (making them more powerful in - and more naturally able to focus - this magic) and so that is how he split up and formed the schools in the first place.
However, the wizard Merlin was also incredibly well-known for a powerful ability to shapeshift as well as for his use of astrology (both for prophecy and to aid Arthur), which would probably most closely align with the polymorph ability in the game. So if you were to say that he wasn't the original founder of all magic, and just a student himself, then perhaps Merle's own "innate talent" would be with an astral school - specifically the moon school?
Of course, these are just theories based on observation and speculation.

I've always wondered why this school hasn't been closed down due to student endangerment, I thought Hogwarts was dangerous, and wondered what the heck everyone meant by Hogwarts being the safest school. Now I understand. Ravenwood is mcuh worse lol

When I was playing wiz for the first time, I remember grandmaster (50) was the max level and that if you were max level, when you teleported, instead of your school color or explosion, it'd be something like fireworks. Ambrose had the same thing. I thought he was ice because he wore blue, but then after the fireworks I assumed he was every school, and much better than me

dude, I have a challenge for you. Do a video on the Nidevelir area in Grizzleheim. There's a lot of cryptic stuff there, but you'll be sitting there for hours translating runes and researching because the mystery of that place goes way deep.

There is a post about Merle Ambrose of what school he is in official page by developer specifically Headmaster Ambrose guy. He said at various time he spent long , long years at mastering both triangle magic Inner and Outer ones which mean (outer elemental schools and inner spirit ones) so he have mastery on all . But at the time of the post he said that he was now actually studying a third triangle of school the Astral one which explain his robes (but the post was back in 2008 way back at the beta test and the astral school didn't exist than and his robes where more like a mystery) Presumably since that time he have mastered all schools , he is a very old and powerful wizards back in time when peoples of spiral started to discover wizardly.

Well, it says Merlin in the balance description, but Merle Ambrose is kind of based off of him. (Merlin Ambrosius is Merlin's full name)
The Onis are classified as “elephants” (“undead” if they are spirits) and “demons.” We already have a world with elephants.
I wonder if we will have a world with “demons.” The only demons we have faced were Oni-looking. They also seem to be quite powerful, like the Onis are, almost like possessed elephants.
Wouldn't it be interesting if Morganthe was the professor of the Shadow school in the Arcanum.. It would also be interesting if the player delved too deeply into Shadow Magic and we would have to fight somebody like Ambrose or Grandmother Raven to pull us out of it. Or also if, since there is a counter-school to almost every school (except Balance), if Kingsisle were to create a shool of Light. Just a few things that have been on my mind...

ForsakenGrimm there are schools that are the opposite of shadow: they are every schools we know. In the beginning, Raven had light magic and Spider shadow. When spider got trapped, shadow disappeared mostly from the spiral. Then, Raven used the light magic to create all schools we know. It was once told in a history thing. So, the pips we use are light pips for light spells.
How about a chaos school for opposite of balance

I mean really you can just treat the end of each arc as an ending, that's kinda how wiz is structured. The devs can expand infinitely on what they already have and i think that's great.

Wizard101 has so many worlds that haven't been explained along with characters that haven't been fully explained either and I really hope they implement these worlds that we hardly get any information on.

Hey, much later when pirate101 took place which is in a dimension way further in the future than wizard101, and I have a maxed buccaneer, and working on a witchdoctor, I also am level 50 on wizard101 ( life), but here is what is interesting about witchdoctor, the back story of the main trainer in witchdoctor is quite interesting, supposedly Vadima got kicked off of piswick academy for studying "black magic" , she lived in Darkmoor, and then she came to skull island, but I think she was actually studying "Shadow Magic", because they both sound like the same type of magic, but upgraded into 'black' magic.

I haven't checked myself, but I've heard people say that when you're making a new account and you're on the selection phase, if you select a school it gives you a list of people who were in that school. If you click Balance, it shows that Merle Ambrose is part of it. But I also read on a forum that he's currently studying Astral and he has studied every school at some point. Not sure if anybody has already commented this so I just decided to point it out. Hope this helped. :)
I think Merle is life cause in the beginning you get hurt and he heals you before he summons you to his castle.
Plus, the gobblers were forced out of their home by witched. Candy witches maybe because they were eating all of their stuff?

I think I can clear up one facet of the Lydia Greyrose mystery: Gobblerton is without a doubt in Candyworld.
The evidence to support my theory? Baron Rotunda’s monstrology page says he “earned his title in the Swallowing of Candy Mountain.” Unless there are other worlds that have mountains made out of candy, I think it is abundantly clear that the Gobblers come from Candyworld.
Or the Candied Isles, as Jamie Hood said.

You know how Avalon has a lot of creatures? She could Lydia could be like an ice fairy from there.
I know I'm like really late but I had an epiphany,(although these may be obvious ) merle could be based off of merlin (king arthur and the Knights of the round table and he's from avalon and him being balance could be why he's so adept at handling all schools of magic since balance is all the magics combined) and I have a feeling that artorious is king arthur and morganthe may be morgana and the entire world of the spiral could be like a recap of merlin's adventures but instead of merlin, the player lives out the adventure, becoming arthur's most trusted ally, defeating morganthe and malistaire (who is most likely based off of one of merlin's many rivals ) and saving the spiral in general, while having knowledge over each of the school including shadow and light magic
I am guessing that Merle Ambrose is a master of all schools just because he is a headmaster and has a lot of power just by looking at his appearance

I think the shadow professor is Gretta DarkKettle in Firecat Alley. Gretta was removed from the school, like the shadow professor.

At various times I have spent a few centuries devoting myself to the study of each of the different magic schools. Currently I am studying the Astral magics, a school of thought that is barely recognized and little known.
You see, at Ravenwood, we teach the core essentials of both the Inner and the Outer triangles of Wizardry: the External magics, which deal with manipulating the forces of Nature (Fire, Ice and Storm) and the Internal magics, which deal with the elements that compose one's self (Mind, Body and Spirit ... or, as you know them, Myth, Death and Life.) The Astral schools aren't really that powerful, but maybe there is something we don't know about them yet?
I always thought that Ambrose Is a higher, more powerful balance magic user or a type of magic user that allows him to be able to cast all the different schools. Maybe if we have shadow magic we could very well get light magic.
Imagine they skip Empyrea and just do Candy World. Lol.

I think Ambrose knows spells from all of the schools. Every spell of all the schools from storm to balance, he knows. His main school however I think is Astral, because he did found the spiral and his robe has moons stars and suns on it. It'd also make sense because he may have unforeseen power to summon astral bodies, such as the worlds in the spiral. The schools I think he knows the least in is Shadow, mainly because that is Morganthe's power and he wanted to stay away from it. That's why he founded the council of light, ironically, creating all of the members of it into astral bodies (again, a theory as to why he may be Astral based)
Ambrose might of looked at the stars and moons like you said, but then looked into the astral school since its compared to stars and the moon. He might of created astral of his own and taught himself, but then created other schools with his power and confidence. Later on, he might of started to learn more of the schools and spells with brought other spells to schools and that's when everybody else came to wizard city.
Merle Ambrose knows all the normal magics and was studying sun/star/moon in a 2008 devpost.
Merle is Universal. The Sidhe gear set has universal stats, and the exact same patterns a shown on his clothing. Thus, he is Universal.

That being said, if you think about it, technically...
Slight correction on the first part; what actually happened was that the professor was intending to summon those snowmen to help deal with the undead crisis, however something went wrong and the gobblers showed up as well, creating an even bigger problem.
I've gone through WC enough times on different characters at different times in my life, that this detail is burned into my memory by this point XD
I believe that the girl that we met was an apprentice of the Shadow School and Merle Ambrose is the shadow school professor. Back in like khrystals of Avalon, I believe Morganthe saw a book of "Foreign Knowledge" that Ambrose had and read it. That is where she got shadow magic. So my question is, where did Ambrose get the forbidden knowledge?
I think that Merle Ambrose was from a Space School, but then when Masterial went crazy Masterial destroyed Merle Ambrose's school. Then, I think the other Schools helped Merle Ambrose and teached him some things about their schools. Then, Merle became powerful and the rest is history.

Helephants and Onis are demons, so they probably don't actually have their own world. That's why they're being summoned. From the underworld or whatever the counterpart to hell is in this game

The world Greyrose is from, nicknamed Candy World, is actually called Karamelle (not Gobblerton). We learned that from the Greyrose rollcall in a monthly newsletter. So, we do know where she's from. The Gobblers are native to Karamelle.

Maybe there was an old school that Ambrose used to attend, and then that school was raided by a much evil force. And then he was seen by bartleby, and bartleby taught him about the spiral. Because bartleby was created at the beggining of time
Merle is a Balance Wizard. The game tells you when you are selected as a balance wizard that famous sorcerers in Merlin. And with the addition of Avalon it is clear that Merle is Merlin and Morganthe is Morgan La Fay both of which are from the King Arthur stories. In fact Merlin's last name is even similar to Merle's. My guess is the game creators based Merle off of Merlin which would make him a balance wizard. And if they decide to continue the similarities that means Mordred will probably end up being the next arc after grandfather spider.

If we can learn from the school of shadow later, we should have a parting story arch where we can choose to be a good or bad wizard. 👀🔥

I'd say Morganthe is gone. Cobb survived being there mainly because he's a primal deity, and is part of Raven.
