The CRM was only going to take 10% of the children. Likely they were the best and brightest. That way they could possibly help create new inventions, new innovations, maybe a cure and help the CR survive. Amazingly enough I'm from Portland and my son would have been taken. He was tested at the 95 percentile. The rest of us would have been gassed for sure.
It was perfect, the way it was. Carl is The One Who Lives in Rick’s and Michonne’s hearts. He and his death informs their characters. Even Judith has memories, and she, in turn must talk about him to RJ. I know it hurt fans that Carl died, but as we can see, his memory looms large in his parent’s life.
I think is kinda dissapointing... like... they been telling us the CRM was going to be the biggest enemy in the whole twd universe... and got destroyed in only one episode?? For real? I mean... 500 year plan to rebuild the world, the biggest military on the planet, managed to keep Rick Grimes locked in for 8 years and got wiped out in only ONE episode just because "Rick and Michonne together can do anything"? Like it seemed so unreallistic that in one episode they returned to cascadia base and were able to kill Beale, Thorne, the whole CRM army and military, make the civic republic and portland find out about the true evil intentions of the CRM and at the end returning safe and sound to Judith and RJ who were specifically there waiting for them to land? In only one episode. I mean i understand they wanted to give it and end and not make a season 2 or make movies, and give us the happy ending we wanted. But i feel it was at the very least... rushed. Like they made us thought Beale was the biggest menace of the whole universe... and he appeared less than Gareth, and was much easier to kill... then kill Thorne and the whole of the CRM in the same episode... it just seems odd to me, like, we got the ending we wanted, but way too soon, like everything went perfect and as planned for the first time in their lifes... in only one episode, when there were like 3 episodes which their point was Michonne trying to gain back the Rick Grimes she once knew. They spent a whole episode chasing Jadis so in the end she died, but in only one episode they wiped out the whole CRM, saved portland and told everyone the CRM was evil, killed Pearl Thorne, killed Beale, AND returned to their children all in an one hour lapsus?? I would feel like an idiot if i was with the endlings on the world beyond since their whole objective was doing the thing Rick and Michonne did in only ONE episode, and they couldn't do it on an entire season. Like... the world beyond was supposed to teach us about how dangerous the CRM, Jadis and Beale actually were... and they just ended them in one episode, very similar with what game of thrones did to the long night. But anyways, that's only what i believe and u may or not agree with me. Feel free to tell me your thoughts
Rick can now just live in Alexanderia or the Commonweath. There's no pressure on him, no need for him to be the leader, others have stepped into that role, he can just be a dad and husband and live in peace.
Also one of the most forced. I was confused by the pairing when it first happened, and I don't see how these two were the great love story that they made it out to be. Just my opinion, though - glad others liked it so much.
Like Steven said in the intro, it doesn't make ANY sense that the CRM wouldn't know about different communities around the country, so I'm really glad they explained what their plan was and that they did even have spies in a lot of communities. Letting Rick know that Beal knew that Rick was actually from a group right after explaining how they plan on robbing and destroying every community they can was kind of crazy 😂
Plus Beale said they had spies abroad too, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was to give them the option to bring some reference in to the Daryl show with someone from CRM imbedded in France.
@@vickster5001 The group Daryl is dealing with in France are EXTREMELY similar to the CRM. Testing on walker AND human subjects, like the CRM did in World Beyond. The outfits. Their military structure. Everything.
Yes, that's probably right. I remember seeing the Commonwealth train in one of the flashbacks, so they must have known about them all. They had to take them (CRM) all out
Ive seen a lot of people complaining that they didnt focus more on the CRM. This series wasnt about the CRM or the friends Michonne made on the way. It was about Rick & Michonne. And they only had 6 episodes to do it in. Thats pretty difficult to pull off. I got exactly what I wanted. Rick & Michonne going back home to their kids. Also people saying they destroyed the CRM so easily. They didnt. That was just the Cascade base where the senior members (that 10% that the other 90% dont know what they do) were holding a summit. That 90% and all the citizens are still there.
@Rozzer, the force that were at the summit with Beale were all the ones who were corrupted and conspired with him. Beale told us that he was responsible for the bombing and destruction of Omaha just like they were going to do to Portland.
That was showing that they were preparing to take children from Portland. In the meeting with the slides of kids, the speaker mentioned giving them a comfort item… stuffed animals.
I loved the ending it made me cry and the little add in when they get off the helicopter to reunite with the kids Rick is wearing his boots and michonne has her katana back just made everything complete
They set out to tell a love story focused on Rick and Michonne and they more then accomplished it and it ended the way I wanted it too, while I would have loved to have seen them reunite with everyone, the rest can be left to my imagination And I appreciate they dealt with the army in a pretty believable way (And the fact that they were barely anyone around to stop them made sense as they were all distracted with the briefing) rather than having some big gunfight against a whole army which would have been the easy option for the sake of spectacle I understand some find it rushed but for me personally I thought the pace was just about perfect, nothing was dragged out too long or done too short and I think the fact Beale was a short term villain made him have more of an impact (Similar to the cannibals in the main show who only lasted for like 4 episodes) The show wasted no time and had no filler, it was super focused on and to me it’s one of the best seasons I’ve seen in the walking dead stuff
I agree completely. People spend too much time building up these scenarios in their heads and then are disappointed when they don’t come true. This show did exactly what it set out to do and was beautifully done.
I like that if you all noticed Rick did not bring the prosthetic hand with him even though that prosthetic blade could have helped him further in life because of how much of a reminder it is of what he's lost while being in the civic Republic he doesn't want those memories anymore so we left behind one of the things that most made him bond with that place at least now he'll be able to ask Aaron to make him a cool Merle prosthetic😂😂
I think it was silly to fight the last battle without it, he could have thrown it out once the fighting was over. Knowing the place was going to be filled with walkers after the explosion, and purposely putting himself at a disadvantage was goofy on the writers part. That's like if Michonne was to get rid of her sword then having to take on the walkers with no weapon, that would be a BUT WHY? moment.
TOWL is a Richonne love story. This is how it was presented and advertised. Us true TWD Richonne fans got our happy ending. Thank you Andy and Danai for coming back to wrap this up for your fans. I loved every moment of TOWL. The best spinoff by far. Richonne forever. I love their love ❤ 🔥

I thought everything was tied up in a nice little bow, very good episode. The reunion at the end was definitely a tear jerker, Andrew Lincoln wanted that reunion at the end. Even if they don't do a second season, I'm okay with that. It came full circle
AMEN. I just posted a similar comment. I'm sure the producers/director know the kid can't act, so they gave him three small lines. And even THOSE lines they couldn't get anything close to a natural reading. The director could have said "Say it like this, kid: 'I *KNEW* you'd come back'." That simple inflection would have improved that line read so much. Instead, the line is delivered with all the emotion of Vicki from "Small Wonder". 😄 And his first line "You're the brave man?" is delivered as if he doesn't believe what he's asking. It's like "YOU'RE the brave man? You?" 😄 No, kid. He's your dad. What are you, like 8 or 9 yrs old? It's "DAD", not "the brave man" - wtf?? (I realize that isn't the kid's fault - the writers made up that dumb nickname.)
33:33 I think Steve's right. Hershel (Maggie's son) is considerably older in the spinoff than he was in TWD, if I remember correctly. So Rick's return could've been old news by the time "The Walking Dead: Dead City" started.

Dead city is suppose to be set 5 to 6 years after walking dead. Lauren who plays maggie confirmed this. But yet even the ones who live writers cant get there timeline right

I was really pleased with how this episode turned out and I’m glad that Andy wanted the ending to be this way. Hopefully on Daryl’s show we see that reunion between the two.

I hate how a lot of people are focusing on the low aspects of this episode and treating it like the worst episode ever, i mean we had the Grimes family reuniting after 8 years of Rick being held captive and people are talking about "the CRM destruction felt rushed"? Really?! I was crying my eyeballs out seeing Judith and Rick together!! This spin off was never about the CRM, if they want CRM content they should watch World Beyond Season 2, The Ones Who Live is about Rick and Michonne, a love story, and in that matter it was a GREAT series!
Problem is not that the focus isnt the CRM, it is that it is unrealistic. There is no way this could've ever worked. Also the fact that Rick survived 2 bombs (the big boom and a handgrenade right in front of him) is lazy writing. Yes, it's a "Rick and Michonne" show, but that doesn't make it better, if the story of how they got away feels plot armored and/or rushed. The people complaining, are complaining about the story. The people praising this episode are the people who like visuals. Cuz other than it looking good, it didn't make a whole lot of sense realisticly
@@JarinCOD Not for everyone. For me, the CRM - the upper branches - were just fascist crazies. John Locke was a nutter. Thorne and Jadis drank his Kool-Aid. I have no issue with Richonne taking them out in an episode! Worked for me just fine.
i am so happy that they reunited at the end and rick got to finally go home!! but it’s also bittersweet that this is possibly the last time we will be seeing the grimes family 😭🤍 rick and michonne have been some of my favorite characters for years now, and im so glad that danai and andrew helped make this show perfect for us fans!! 🤍 (Side note: I have absolutely loved all of your guys' reactions to the whole TWD universe over the years!! Rick Grimes was TWD IMO. This story is complete but your 100% right that we Need a TWD ending with Rick and Morgan. They started it. But it was a phenomenal 6 episode journey. Well done Scott Gimple.
Yeah I’m guessing the next time we will see rick and michonne will be at the end of the Daryl show. I’m ok with that. The finale felt rushed but I am glad they got their happy ending
The irony isn't lost on me that after an apocalypse and completete fall of civilisation the last boss of TWD is a group that's basically the same as our real life government

Them getting reunited was so satisfying. Everything these characters have been through makes it more emotional and I didn’t want the scene to end😭. Its crazy. Hopefully we get to see reunions with Daryl, Carol and the others!

Dead City takes place about 6 years after the end of TWD. Daryl Dixon takes place during this time line. It appears that Daryl is still in Paris when Rick comes back.

Holy cow, over the last 4 years i have watched a ton of your reactions, all sorts of stuff, walking dead, vikings, chernobyl, john wick and god only knows what else, this is the closest to tears i've ever seen steven
First three episode names were season 1 pilot name but years instead of days…. And they used the name of the episode where michonne started looking for Rick 😊
1000 percent they will recast. I his defense he was casted when he was literally like 5 years old and we don't even know if he wants to be a genuine actor in his future. I think the only line that was terrible was when he said "I believe". The director should have just changed that line completely or at least do a different take. It honestly.
Now I hope that in season two of the Daryl Dixon, so we know that Carol is going to be on there and I hope that she will confirm to Daryl that Rick returned And by the end of the season, those two will have reunited with Rick and then we will get to the second season of the Maggie and Negan TV show which I think people have said it’s like 10 years in the future so maybe Maggie and Negan will have reunited with Rick and then go in her son, then got kidnapped and that’s where that show finishes with them getting him and returning
I believe everybody needs to find out Rick is alive that they need to have a final episode on the actual Walkin dead of Rick coming back episode 12 for the last episode where everybody knows that he’s still alive and they can all move forward
Decent to great final episode and the ending makes sense since a lot of the other characters that have a huge bond with Rick are on other shows so keeping it just the four of em are okay, also I'm happy Rick and Michonne got a happy ending. P.s I have a weird feeling the majority of the budget went towards that giant explosion the only other big one I could imagine was the one Carol triggered in season 5 episode 1.

tbh ever since rick left in 9x05 this all i wanted him to reunite with michonne and go home to the kids and next reunion is rick and daryl left i want and my heart will be healed and filled we already knew what the crm people done and did back in world beyond for 2 seasons and 20 episodes + 6 from towl lol Richonne killed the people that did that stuff to kids and communities and followed those horrible rulings it was always about the love story rick and michonne had and what they do for each other and for the family they have back home and the flashbacks was my favourite to showing the journey they had
Dead City is the one that is supposed to be 5-6 yrs in the future from the end of the main TWD series. I don't know how they reconcile the timeline difference to allow for the full reunion we all want to see, since TWD/TOWL/DD shows are all relatively close to each other in the timeline.
Dang, I haven’t seen Dead City but another 5-6 years. So TWOL and Daryl’s timeline are close. Cuz Daryl had just been put on the boat around the time Rick got back. Maybe in Daryl’s show we’ll see their reunion. But then again Maggie and Negan. I’m really excited to see how they’ll wrap up everything. Haven’t looked this forward to something since Avengers Endgame😂😂
Daryl season 2 finale will bring everything together... Carol told Daryl they came back... now she lookin for him to take him home to meet Rick. The end of Fear had Morgan goin back to Alexandria to find Rick. It will all tie together with Season 2 finale.
The time-line very well could be now that rick is back i think takes place around the time dixon gets the radio call from carol when she mentions that some one is back after some time away which is before he ends up in France. And now that rick has pretty much the CRM and common wealth at his disposal he will use them to get his brother dixon back home which will most likely be in Daryl dixon spinoff.. and maybe before that happens maggie may inform them of NY and negan and CRM goes after the fuel thats being made or whtevr takes place in the Maggie negan spinoff
I agree with Steven 5:45 on the CRM knowing where all the outside communities are. Do you remember early in the series Rick saw a helicopter? The helicopters have been sighted quite a few times throughout the original series.

Beale wasn’t stupid “he basically said do something Rick” and he knew Rick wasn’t going to agree with him.

Rick and Judith’s reunion makes me tear up every time
Ive seen a lot of people complaining that they didnt focus more on the CRM. This series wasnt about the CRM or the friends Michonne made on the way. It was about Rick & Michonne. And they only had 6 episodes to do it in. Thats pretty difficult to pull off. I got exactly what I wanted. Rick & Michonne going back home to their kids. Also people saying they destroyed the CRM so easily. They didnt. That was just the Cascade base where the senior members (that 10% that the other 90% dont know what they do) were holding a summit. That 90% and all the citizens are still there.
They rushed the CRM storyline, one explosion solved everything, rushed bad writing.

I loved the ending it made me cry and the little add in when they get off the helicopter to reunite with the kids Rick is wearing his boots and michonne has her katana back just made everything complete
I really hope in The Book of Carol we see the group all together at Alexandria, would be beautiful.
They set out to tell a love story focused on Rick and Michonne and they more then accomplished it and it ended the way I wanted it too, while I would have loved to have seen them reunite with everyone, the rest can be left to my imagination
And I appreciate they dealt with the army in a pretty believable way (And the fact that they were barely anyone around to stop them made sense as they were all distracted with the briefing) rather than having some big gunfight against a whole army which would have been the easy option for the sake of spectacle
I understand some find it rushed but for me personally I thought the pace was just about perfect, nothing was dragged out too long or done too short and I think the fact Beale was a short term villain made him have more of an impact (Similar to the cannibals in the main show who only lasted for like 4 episodes)
The show wasted no time and had no filler, it was super focused on and to me it’s one of the best seasons I’ve seen in the walking dead stuff

I like that if you all noticed Rick did not bring the prosthetic hand with him even though that prosthetic blade could have helped him further in life because of how much of a reminder it is of what he's lost while being in the civic Republic he doesn't want those memories anymore so we left behind one of the things that most made him bond with that place at least now he'll be able to ask Aaron to make him a cool Merle prosthetic😂😂
I think it was silly to fight the last battle without it, he could have thrown it out once the fighting was over. Knowing the place was going to be filled with walkers after the explosion, and purposely putting himself at a disadvantage was goofy on the writers part. That's like if Michonne was to get rid of her sword then having to take on the walkers with no weapon, that would be a BUT WHY? moment.
I'd have kept, don't care about the trauma it brings. That thing was awesome.

I think is kinda dissapointing... like... they been telling us the CRM was going to be the biggest enemy in the whole twd universe... and got destroyed in only one episode?? For real? I mean... 500 year plan to rebuild the world, the biggest military on the planet, managed to keep Rick Grimes locked in for 8 years and got wiped out in only ONE episode just because "Rick and Michonne together can do anything"? Like it seemed so unreallistic that in one episode they returned to cascadia base and were able to kill Beale, Thorne, the whole CRM army and military, make the civic republic and portland find out about the true evil intentions of the CRM and at the end returning safe and sound to Judith and RJ who were specifically there waiting for them to land? In only one episode. I mean i understand they wanted to give it and end and not make a season 2 or make movies, and give us the happy ending we wanted. But i feel it was at the very least... rushed. Like they made us thought Beale was the biggest menace of the whole universe... and he appeared less than Gareth, and was much easier to kill... then kill Thorne and the whole of the CRM in the same episode... it just seems odd to me, like, we got the ending we wanted, but way too soon, like everything went perfect and as planned for the first time in their lifes... in only one episode, when there were like 3 episodes which their point was Michonne trying to gain back the Rick Grimes she once knew. They spent a whole episode chasing Jadis so in the end she died, but in only one episode they wiped out the whole CRM, saved portland and told everyone the CRM was evil, killed Pearl Thorne, killed Beale, AND returned to their children all in an one hour lapsus?? I would feel like an idiot if i was with the endlings on the world beyond since their whole objective was doing the thing Rick and Michonne did in only ONE episode, and they couldn't do it on an entire season. Like... the world beyond was supposed to teach us about how dangerous the CRM, Jadis and Beale actually were... and they just ended them in one episode, very similar with what game of thrones did to the long night. I thought everything was tied up in a nice little bow, very good episode. The reunion at the end was definitely a tear jerker, Andrew Lincoln wanted that reunion at the end. Even if they don't do a second season, I'm okay with that. It came full circle

AMEN. I just posted a similar comment. I'm sure the producers/director know the kid can't act, so they gave him three small lines. And even THOSE lines they couldn't get anything close to a natural reading. The director could have said "Say it like this, kid: 'I *KNEW* you'd come back'." That simple inflection would have improved that line read so much. Instead, the line is delivered with all the emotion of Vicki from "Small Wonder". 😄
And his first line "You're the brave man?" is delivered as if he doesn't believe what he's asking. It's like "YOU'RE the brave man? You?" 😄 No, kid. He's your dad. What are you, like 8 or 9 yrs old? It's "DAD", not "the brave man" - wtf?? (I realize that isn't the kid's fault - the writers made up that dumb nickname.)

33:33 I think Steve's right. Hershel (Maggie's son) is considerably older in the spinoff than he was in TWD, if I remember correctly. So Rick's return could've been old news by the time "The Walking Dead: Dead City" started.

Dead city is suppose to be set 5 to 6 years after walking dead. Lauren who plays maggie confirmed this. But yet even the ones who live writers cant get there timeline right

I hate how a lot of people are focusing on the low aspects of this episode and treating it like the worst episode ever, i mean we had the Grimes family reuniting after 8 years of Rick being held captive and people are talking about "the CRM destruction felt rushed"? Really?!

This spin off was never about the CRM, if they want CRM content they should watch World Beyond Season 2, The Ones Who Live is about Rick and Michonne, a love story, and in that matter it was a GREAT series!

They've built CRM for 5 episodes and then finished them in 5 minutes. That's bad writing whether you care about CRM or not.
Problem is not that the focus isnt the CRM, it is that it is unrealistic. There is no way this could've ever worked. Also the fact that Rick survived 2 bombs (the big boom and a handgrenade right in front of him) is lazy writing. Yes, it's a "Rick and Michonne" show, but that doesn't make it better, if the story of how they got away feels plot armored and/or rushed. The people complaining, are complaining about the story. The people praising this episode are the people who like visuals. Cuz other than it looking good, it didn't make a whole lot of sense realisticly

1000 percent they will recast. I his defense he was casted when he was literally like 5 years old and we don't even know if he wants to be a genuine actor in his future. I think the only line that was terrible was when he said "I believe". The director should have just changed that line completely or at least do a different take. It honestly.
This was needed to complete the original series and it made it all worth it.

At first I thought Rick was a ghost and was watching Michonne reunite with their family when he was standing in the back. Glad he was not dead ,
They were only going to take 10% of the children. Not all the children.
And “liquidate” the rest. That sounds all too familiar.
Now I hope that in season two of the Daryl Dixon, so we know that Carol is going to be on there and I hope that she will confirm to Daryl that Rick returned And by the end of the season, those two will have reunited with Rick and then we will get to the second season of the Maggie and Negan TV show which I think people have said it’s like 10 years in the future so maybe Maggie and Negan will have reunited with Rick and then go in her son, then got kidnapped and that’s where that show finishes with them getting him and returning

Decent to great final episode and the ending makes sense since a lot of the other characters that have a huge bond with Rick are on other shows so keeping it just the four of em are okay, also I'm happy Rick and Michonne got a happy ending. P.s I have a weird feeling the majority of the budget went towards that giant explosion the only other big one I could imagine was the one Carol triggered in season 5 episode 1.

tbh ever since rick left in 9x05 this all i wanted him to reunite with michonne and go home to the kids and next reunion is rick and daryl left i want and my heart will be healed and filled we already knew what the crm people done and did back in world beyond for 2 seasons and 20 episodes + 6 from towl lol Richonne killed the people that did that stuff to kids and communities and followed those horrible rulings it was always about the love story rick and michonne had and what they do for each other and for the family they have back home and the flashbacks was my favourite to showing the journey they had
Thorne survived the blast because it was set to blow in the opposite direction from her. Towards the army.
The episode was fire, and we finally got happy ending in TWDU.
Dead City is the one that is supposed to be 5-6 yrs in the future from the end of the main TWD series. I don't know how they reconcile the timeline difference to allow for the full reunion we all want to see, since TWD/TOWL/DD shows are all relatively close to each other in the timeline.
Dang, I haven’t seen Dead City but another 5-6 years. So TWOL and Daryl’s timeline are close. Cuz Daryl had just been put on the boat around the time Rick got back. Maybe in Daryl’s show we’ll see their reunion. But then again Maggie and Negan. I’m really excited to see how they’ll wrap up everything. Haven’t looked this forward to something since Avengers Endgame😂😂

The time-line very well could be now that rick is back i think takes place around the time dixon gets the radio call from carol when she mentions that some one is back after some time away which is before he ends up in France. And now that rick has pretty much the CRM and common wealth at his disposal he will use them to get his brother dixon back home which will most likely be in Daryl dixon spinoff.. and maybe before that happens maggie may inform them of NY and negan and CRM goes after the fuel thats being made or whtevr takes place in the Maggie negan spinoff
