Such a beautiful home, it’s actually amazing that with all the concert and wood it does not feel cold, I love the use of one or two materials that really make it feel grand and simple but luxurious at the same time...definitely one of my favourite I have seen on this channel
I watched this build in another show , all i can say is that he has an incredible strength and understanding of design and spaces, so many architects and owners just want one big white box, this shows how much people don't know how to make a space have a feel. People are more interested in making homes show off. Yes just my opinion but i see this every day. Beautiful job.
this is probably the best house to live in for me (at least ), the concept, the design, the colors, the placement describe my mood in the best way possible. I guess that I found my dream house, literally this house fits me perfectly.
What colors? There's only the saddest grey i've ever seen and a completely nonsense white stair I respect your opinion but I really don't understand it
@@kevin-uy3yh hahah its really weird that after 4 years i still adore this house, and i just saw your comment btw. i kind of understand your point of view, but after thinking about why i feel this way about it, the grey isnt sad but rather calm. its not totally dark, but yet its enough dim to make every single piece visible, you know what i mean? like every single little light or little object will have more presence in the house, so these type of colors gently show all the details, and i love details. plus, the location of the house is so beautiful, colorful, which is a total contrast of the theme of the house, which i guess balances it in a way. i know my answer seems kinda pholisophical but honestly thats how i feel about it all if i needed to put it in words.
The concept, design, architecture and placement are great, but those grey shades are very depressing, to me! I would prefer warm wood paneling such as oak or any other quality wood!
You would probably like a pitched roof and dormers too I suspect. Try and leave the commentary to the professionals. You know.... The ones that actually do things in world.
would be interesting with more technical details, on how it was built and not that much of interview scenes. Also a bit better overview on how does the house look as a whole.
Hi Rimantas, We used a highly flowable and dense concrete so the exterior is extremely waterproof even without any sealer. The insulation within the outer concrete works to create an extremely warm home. Thermal massing of areas creates this and makes the house perform better than any other type. A lot of time was spent on creating the cantilever over the manacle and I wanted to eliminate the post also but this proved to be not possible. The build required a lot of planning to optimise the use of the small crane I had and also how each wall finished at the top so all fitted into the roof build without any issue. The Finn walls have a weatherboard patten but we could not use standard w/b as these have a small cavity behind them. If I was to pour against these then these cavities would cup. There's a few areas which hopefully help out. Glad you took the time to view. Ross
Reminds me of an under ground parking garage. Disappointed in the dark gray to black interiors, sorta cave-like with no stalactites or stalagmites. The chandeliers look totally out of place and context with the modern style of the building. From the exterior view, with the oriented framing of views through the large glass panels, the building looks quite good. I do like the vertical light gray concrete with the wood patterning from the concrete forms or shuttering.
Loving the shiplap effect of the concrete walls. The tilt slab pour with the deliberately exposed retention points is so overdone. Personally I would have liked some warm colour inside .. all that grey and dark hue would send me into suicidal depression.
If I were instructing an architect on how I wanted my house designed, I would tell him that ALL THE WINDOWS MUST BE EASY TO CLEAN. That would eliminate skylights. It would eliminate any window that could not be cleaned (indoors or out) by means of a fairly short ladder; in fact, on the exterior, windows not easily reached from the ground should have a balcony/porch (or perhaps an engawa) on which the window-washer can stand. High windows under very high ceilings are a foolish choice. Asked by a friend for a bid on her house, a window-washer told her, "You couldn't afford it. I would have to rent scaffolding to reach the high windows; the labor required for erecting, climbing, and dismantling the scaffolding would cost you way too much."
The home itself is beautiful. I'm a fan of the architecture. The only issue I have is it doesn't really fit the outside. A home like this would fit more with a mountain view, not a palm tree/ocean view.
Many gorgeous elements, yes it is a work of Art or make a GREAT museum but I wouldn't want to live in it, pay for maintenance and daily upkeep, nor live in such a cavernous space. Can this be scaled down in size to middle class sprawl ? ;) Enjoy!
You know . . . you know . . . blah, blah, blah . . . you know. He said "you know" so many fricking times I had to stop watching. Sorry. Lovely house. But turn off the sound.
Just because you have money does not mean you need to live in a museum size building. Its people like this that will bring humanity to its downfall all because of their low self esteem.
Oh man, this fashion "boxes" are so far from being a home...why would anyone want to live in a fricking black bunker?, I mean, if I wanted to depress someone to death I would make a big black box like this, he just swallowed the whole emo decorating magazine hahaha...listen 3:33 "we got a really WARM house" (WTF) "there's a loooot of concrete on it but not too much" hahaha!!...yeah, I think you miss a spot in the bed...pillows could be concrete too "you know", my God some rich people are so messed up.
dark ugly and unlivable.. Horrible vibe... Hope you don't suffer from depression and visit this house.. You will end up needing to see your therapist .. These architects think they built something and it's a cave on a hill..

Thanks Chuck
A beautiful house. The form work must have been a work of art in itself. The stepped glazed openings are a real treat. Well done to all involved.
Man, those colours are just amazing!!
Absolutely brilliant. Classical decoration as a counterpoint to Rustic and Natural Concrete. Only the best can do it !

Jarmo Havela Havela what show ?
@@namastenadine6690 it was a while ago , but it was on tv in Australia, Australian grand designs. He almost lost an eye when the concrete hose burst.

Gorgeous house and wonderful architecture, love it. ;-)
I hope you won an award for this project
Stunning. Would love to experience this home for a few days... weeks... years... the rest of my life...
i watched the way they built this "concrete house". love it
Beautiful architecture and materials.
Beautiful Home... congratulations
This house looks modern but in a way that it's still full of life
Absolutely stunning!
Stunning architecture
This house is gorgeous! #timelessbeauty
I really appreciate the design & the location.
Amazing angles! Would have been fun to explain what made it challenging 👍
Absolutely perfect.
Stunning
crazy huge house with a wildly impractical kitchen
The concept, design, architecture and placement are great, but those grey shades are very depressing, to me!

Yeah I would agree, but I'd much rather have this house be set near a forest with a small waterfall/creek as the front view
All woods turns gray sometime soo.
It's wabisabi-inspired perhaps

@@rossbannan6138 all in all beautiful project :)
Ah yes the soul-crushing power of gray steel tearing the last remains of humanity buried deep down.
AHAHHAHAHA
it's a vile house and an insult to the site
Gorgeous architecture beautiful home.
Восхитительно!
Love the house! Not so convinced when it comes to the furnishings . . .
its a gorgeous house and I've been in it 🤭
Amazing 👏👏
Lovely...
Stunning ! beautiful =,=
How is the timber coloured and how is the Formwork set to create that effect?
Beautiful and depressing at the same time
❤️🔥❤️🔥
Impressive!👌👍

You might want to watch Grand Designs New Zealand - they did an episode on this house. A very good watch and a very personal impact on Ross.
@@banyantree8618 Would you happen to know the episode and season?
No Good Name Season 2 Episode 1 according to the TV channel web site
It was presented on Grand Designs
How much did it cost?
Love what you are doing
For me it’s like some sort of a big company’s headquarter rather than a home
기가맥히네~~나이스!!
Beautiful home 👍🏻
if this builder can build this , I know why my house build cost so much,im in the wrong game
very nice..ya know
The bedroom/master bath seems a bit dismal...all that grey and the cheap Z gallerie furnishings...I was expecting more on the decorating end.
How much is it?
the architect's (david ponting) voice though :o
Loving the shiplap effect of the concrete walls. The tilt slab pour with the deliberately exposed retention points is so overdone. Personally I would have liked some warm colour inside .. all that grey and dark hue would send me into suicidal depression.
People who talk about architecture often have a breathy voice.😂
Seductive philosophical stillness?
some houses can be breathtaking.
As architect agree, just the good ones
wow, wow, wow
lots of shots are from the same angle. so redundant

What did he say about concrete? “By itself it could be..” what?
By itself it could be a bit overpowering. :)
Shrisha thanks but I don’t think that’s what he said. I heard something like “apparent”
@@shrisha9236 You are correct, Ross Ponting (Architect) does say that it can be a bit overpowering. Go to 1:53
Are there no thieves in these cities or something ?? i cant have anything like this in my countryside

Looks like a plush hotel. Missing the ambience of a home

sorry .....dont get it ....its not warm....its angled.... its too many levels.... cedar from indonesian palm plantations>?
f.. awesome
Concrete only last 100 years, doesn't it?
longer than any other product. Romans seemed to enjoy working with it until the skill was lost for a long time
The architecture is stunning but I personally hate concrete. Too much grey.
Wonderful design but it's a bit too, grey.
Gives me wax-works musuem/movie theater vibes
Warm......?
Solid as F#$K
а что тут делает Андрей Малахов?
SUPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The outside is interesting but the inside is kinda horrible and decoration is really kitsch, but each their own I guess.
Who Says Home Has To Be Ordinary.
Must be cold AF in there.
Carlos Ontiveros Most certainly has radiant floor heating. Would make the marble and concrete very cozy to walk on.
Warmest house you'll even be in as the concrete is insulated within utilising the thermal massing of the concrete
the exterior is beautiful and so as the interior but the interior could use other colors as well since right now it looks very depressing
Delicious!
Seems a little "grand" or even "governmental" for the site.
This gives me strange ''Parasite'' vibes
Ahahahah thought so too

Life can be great with a lot of money eh.....
I'll buy it for $10k
Funny how some humans think that building something as small and as mediocre as a house is a challenge.
The issue is not with them but with how your mediocre mind would prefer to stay in mediocrity
If you never built one, you should try it. If so, you should see a psychiatrist !
Guess you're a legend then and created so much more
How much ? lmao
yea...
About buck five
