    easier solution. Pop out plastic end caps from each pipe and use a hacksaw to cut off 1 1/2" from each pipe, smooth out each end and pop the plastic and caps in again. works like a charm, still snug but a hassle-free installation now..

    Thanks for posting. Going through all same issues with them right now. There is no way this company should be in business!!

    Thank you for your idea. I may try that one before I pull out the hack saw. "Ill wind" I love it!

    Thank you for this video. I had the exact experience just yesterday. The original canopy had seen it's better days I threw it away, and ordered a replacement back in the winter. Waited until the weather permitted to attempt installing it and it didn't fit over the top prongs. This is a nightmare, as not even the company that made it is still in business. Green winds sucks.

    Thank you so much for relaying your experience. This company just lost my business. I have a sewing machine and a large unused shade cloth. Think I’ll just make my own.

    I’ve had similar problems with the canopies from garden winds. Rip-stop is nowhere near what it’s name implies. In a season it dries out and ripped. It ripped at the pockets the first installation. I’m working on installing a metal roof shortly. The heck with buying new canopies every year. Thanks for the video.

    Thanks for this video. I should have watched it before. I ended up doing the hacking off the ends to make it fit. It's possible that if I followed your instructions, I would have a less permanent modification. Now I am wondering does the material stretch over time?

    • @ronmarciano
      @ronmarciano  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My experience is that it doesn't stretch and shrinks if anything. It also becomes brittle and will rip if you attempt to stretch it over a pole (like you might have gotten away with last year). Good luck!

    I am experiencing the same problem for the same reasons. My sympathies. Garden Winds does not deserve to remain in business.

    The same exact thing happened to me yesterday. My canopy was on back order last spring when I ordered it and it didn’t arrive until fall so I didn’t even bother to put it up. I got around to putting it up the following spring (yesterday) and it was so tight that I broke one of the grommets that go over the corner piece. I got it on but I think it not going to last too long before that corner rips and the canopy will be useless.

      Mine ripped this spring when I tried pulling the center (not corner) pocket over the pole. I found a product called Better Boat tape on Amazon. It's clear and sticks to fabric very well. We have to keep these canopies going as long as possible before buying another. Good luck!

    Hello Ron, We just has a nor'easter rip through the mid-Atlantic over the weekend and it shredded the canopies on my grill gazebo and the 10'X12' gazebo like the were toilet paper. Now I bought these Sunjoy Oakmont's in 2019 at Big Lots and have never taken them down once and I'm surprised they lasted this long considering the pecan trees and squirrels on my property. Now that I'm in the market for replacements, it seems Garden Winds is the only replacement manufacturer around. Even Big Lots sells replacements for the Oakmont gazebos but guess where they get them from, (Garden Winds). Sunjoy doesn't carry the grill cover anymore and out of stock on the 10"X12' cover. I've searched the web and can't find replacements anywhere except Amazon, again Garden Winds. So what is a guy to do, make them yourself or make them fit? Hell, even the originals were a little snug when I first installed them. A little nip here and tuck there!

      Hi Michael. I'm guessing Garden Winds is the only game in town. As long as you are sure you want to keep the canopy before the 30-days run out, you should be OK. Good luck!

    JUST DIScovered the garden winds canopy i ordered last fall is too tight. I already hacksawed a little bit off a few poles 3 years ago to make that canopy fit, now I will have to do it again for this new even smaller canopy. these gazebos are a pain in the azz. frame lasts 10 years, covers last 2 years if you are luck.y

    Honestly, my Garden Winds canopy is too baggy and won't even attach at the sides...just flops over. I'm not returning it for that because I can lash it down somehow.

    you say ga-zay-bo, I say ga-zee-bo 😂

    • @ronmarciano
      @ronmarciano  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be pronounced as ga-ZEE-bo or ga-ZAY-bo, according to The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language (5th ed.) and Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary (11th ed.). The Oxford English Dictionary, however, gives only one pronunciation: ga-ZEE-bo. We fought the British for the right to pronounce it ga-ZAY-bo. 😄

      Nice to hear from someone carrying water for Garden Winds. That water would not come from the canopy as the drain holes are in the wrong places and the water needs to be pushed off with a broom.

      Thanks for sharing 👍 I have a 10 x 10 but posts that extend out a foot out past the leg posts. I've gone through 2 replacements since we owned ours. I'm seriously thinking of having a custom built cedar roof top.
